Just when you think Haiti is most deserving of a break...
Baby Doc tries a come-back (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/8264366/Jean-Claude-Baby-Doc-Duvalier-returns-to-Haiti.html)
Former dictator Jean-Claude "Baby Doc" Duvalier made a surprise return to Haiti in the midst of a political vacuum left by disputed presidential elections. Returning to his homeland for the first time after 25 years , most of them spent in exile in France, Duvalier told reporters at the airport, simply: "I've come to help."
This is a bit like inviting Charles Manson into you home to "straighten out a few family problems".
And in a show of extremely good judgment...
PORT-AU-PRINCE — (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/41135181/ns/world_news-haiti_earthquake/)Haitian authorities will question former dictator Jean-Claude "Baby Doc" Duvalier to determine whether he should be prosecuted for stealing from the treasury during his rule, a senior government official said Tuesday.
"He will be questioned and he will remain at the disposal of the judicial system," the official, who asked not to be named, told Reuters.
The statement came as senior police officials and a judge were holding a private meeting with Duvalier.
After all, if he really wanted to "help", all he had to do was write a check for what he and his father stole from the people.
