My pleasure to provide the info, but my heartbreak to know if it. Will assume that your question is rhetorical. I wish we knew. I have wondered if in the case of oceans/tributaries, if the BP Oil Spill hasn't had some impact.

It's probably a rogue arm of the army, like a crazy general, testing different species via DNA in order to fine tune a weapon.
