Amazon is greatly expanding their surveillance network, and if you have
an Amazon surveillance device such as Ring or Echo they will
automatically sign you up in a week (June 8th) unless you opt out. It
uses your wifi for your neighbors' Amazon devices and their wifi for
yours.
It seems Amazon no longer considers Amazon devices to be personal surveillance devices but instead as part of a larger surveillance network that is designed to never go down due to a single person's network going off line.
