I was very alarmed to hear about this from a friend today, I checked it and found it to be true. The NHS can share your medical records for research purposes but there is no further info on the organisations they send it to.
This is a travesty of data protection; with your confidential medical records you should be given the choice to opt in, not opt out. Apparently there are notices on notice boards in GP surgeries amongst all the clutter of other notices on their notice boards - but who has managed to get to see their GP for over a year?
We should all have had a letter about this! I'm going to write to my MP about this, it's disgraceful and I hope that you will too if you feel the same.
I suspect this is how some immunisation centre got my details and wanted to know why I had refused the vax and phoned me about this. The woman who phoned me had quite a bossy tone, like the fearsome ward matrons of old; I wasn't going to be intimidated by that but others might.
So, to opt out - click on the link below, they want your name, DOB and either NHS number or postcode. They'll send a code to your email address or phone and then you'll get the option to opt out.

Update:
I forgot to add - when looking into this opt-out, I saw that it was introduced in 2018 so I suspect that the scamdemic was long in the planning.
