When I saw this in today's newspaper, my jaw dropped and I felt unutterably sad for this child whose parents would risk its life for a few 'likes' on social media.
Seriously, what on earth is going on in these people's heads?
Posting this brings to mind something I read a couple of years ago, and the thought of which haunts me to this day.
A 'woman' murdered her two young children because they were getting 'in the way' of her love life....

Oh my, on levels of stupidity that is stellar. What has happened that has made people lose their common sense, and to do that to a child?
This is crazy; "Network Rail said that there have been 433 such incidents, now popular on TikTok".
I come from a railway family and it was always drummed in to us kids NEVER to step onto the track and rails, but that was widely understood by everyone to be dangerous; no longer, it seems.

Yet more anti-human psuedo-scientific seed planting balderdash from Futurism magazine this time. I'd say this is a level of stupid.

Stupid, certainly, and not at all true in any way possible. Castrated men live shorter lives, real lived-in lives adapting to the challenges that are always naturally occurring. This can be seen in the lives they live, and that does not mean those who have had them removed without choosing to do so, by accident or uninformed surgery, when we should know that the soul determines outcome, far beyond any physical limitation. Stupidity does take some effort to create, all on it's own.
Those ridiculous studies should have some very special requirements imposed on the ones who spend the time involved in them. I would suggest both the scientists, researchers and those who paid for the grant that funded that study be required to take the all inclusive castration, brain implant and genetic altering, current shot cocktail mix. Then they should be tried for the crimes they commit using taxpayer funding.

This thread has reminded me of the public safety films of the 1970s... some of them were quite graphic and gruesome! Maybe they should bring them back.
This one stuck with me for years, we were all shown it at school; although only a minute and a half long it gave me nightmares. Narrated by Donald Pleasence.

There was also a railway one, The Finishing Line; I don't remember this one.

This comment of mine is a bit off-topic… so ignore it if you feel it’s too far. :silent:
If we are fine with the assumption that IQ is good meter for intelligence, it is actually very weird how much 25% change can do for person. For example Feynmann was said to have ”only” IQ of 126. But then again the majority of top scientists (Einstein, Hawkins, da Vinci) have all being ”genius level” I.e. above 130. These people are the ones that are able to shape history. People below (with some exceptions) are objectively said here to grind food, produce new labour force and keeping the consumption rolling + also gathering experiences for God if one decides to believe so. Only when the IQ drops around 70-79 the ordinary life becomes difficult and person is qualified as borderline retarded.
I think it is possible that the most people around IQ 100 dont have the tools to think the consequences of their actions. And that explains why they place their kids on rails, or participate any ”stupid” trends. When even the group pressure can get smarter people to do stupid things.
Ps. I have never been officially tested for IQ, but life experience says I am NOT a genius… far from that (although I also have some ASD traits like urge to explain things I know:facepalm:…)… also I am not trying to advocate high IQ people being more valuable than others. They just are smarter and I am fine with that. We need super smart people to invent new tools and systems for the better future. And to ban things which not-that-smart-people are not able to use properly without supervision.

That's possible Arak, though for my part my family were solidly working class; two and three generations back they were all in manual trades but then the kids got free state grammar school education and moved up the social ranking ladder.
What I would say about the older generations, despite being poor, with basic education and probably didn't have high IQ, was that they were extremely practical and - most importantly - had a lot of common sense. They also obeyed rules to a greater extent which today may be considered servile, but when applied to rules such as "Keep off the track" was a very useful character trait.
I really don't know where that common sense has vanished to these days.

I don't know who George Carlin is, I'll look it up, but whenever I read or remember that quote of his, I'm amazed by his wisdom and the truth of that statement. My guess is that some 50% of people today are imbeciles more or less.

George Carlin, maybe the funniest most honest and confrontational comedian in my life time. A true gift to our world. I grew up on him as a kid from the Ed Sullivan show and on.

George Carlin had the uniting enemy as the corporations. Still holds true today. He has a broad appeal spanning red and blue pill. In conversations I found him to be a uniting force; "I'm with George Carlin"

IQ has actually nothing (?) to do with knowledge, it might be that they could have had high IQ without any education… that is because IQ is measured by geometrical problem solving if I translated it right (its more about solving patterns and predicting outcomes). But what has a lot of to do with the degree of IQ is childhood nutrition and also if one is the first kid or not. Also genetics play important factor, smart parents tend to have smart kids and not so smart… well you get the point…
There are also data that shows that women tend to be more intelligent in average, but men have more of the extremes. Also tall people have been recorded to have higher IQ, as well as people with symmetrical features. All intelligence related science and studies are highly sensitive in nature, and are be seen as very controversional by many.
