Mandala
Jose and Miriam Arguelles
P12. The earth is a living mandala. The center is the beginning of the mandala. “The beginning was the center.” In the center lies eternity.
P13. The center of time is now. It is the burning tip of awareness. There is nothing but now and now is all that will ever exist. One’s existence unfolds like a mandala. In Sanskrit mandala means circle & center.
P15. The Mandala is essentially a vehicle for concentrating the mind so that it may pass beyond its usual fetters.
P19. Each human is a mandala unto himself. Only the source of energy is eternal and energy maintains itself through transformation.
P20. Mandala is a centering and wholeing technique. It’s a technique for the creation of this vital energy.
P23. The mandala is fundamentally a visual construct which is easily grasped by the eye. Vedas is a Sanskrit term that relates to vision & wisdom.
P26. Mandala example: Fire in Solomon’s Seal. Henry Sultan. Link (http://www.worlddreambank.com/3/Mandala/FireSolomon.htm)
P30. Ajna is the eye of wisdom or eye of knowledge. The third eye is often symbolized as a double-petalled lotus which can also be viewed as the infinity sign. Go to the center to know the whole. Follow this path. Link (http://yogaalive.net/ajna/)
P44. Each man is a cosmic unit and that the society in which he lives is a reflection of a map of the cosmos. The magic of the mandala is derived from its attunement to the creative forces. Through the mandala man lives as a cosmic citizen. The process of history is itself a mandala.
P46. There was a reference to the philosopher’s stone.
P54. Man is the conscious center of the mandala which heaven and earth are in the process of creating.
P55. Inversion is a basic law of harmony.
P60. The center is the nameless, the most supreme, the oldest, ever-present and continually pours forth its energy. It is self-renewing.
P64. There’s a rendering of the mandala of sixty four kua (I Ching symbols). Link (http://www.phaistosgame.com/Phaistos48.htm)
P67. In kabalistic tradition 28 is the number of the whole man which is 1+2+3+4+5+6+7. There’s a pyramid rendering comprised of 28 circles/dots.
P73. Chakra means circle or wheel. It’s often visualized as a lotus mandala.
P78. The I Ching is a fundamental aid in articulating the depth and scope of the mandala as a key to symbolic systems. Kua means line or sign and pa means eight.
P82. The very definition of life is moving from one transformation to another in a continuum.
P129. Light is eternal. It is the eye and wellspring of the creator.
