The Big Business t-shirt reminded me of this one:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aFv6h0mqTRU
I remember talking with a friend in San Francisco who was in a bunch of punk bands, and when I put these guys on he said, "You can't do that to your sound," as if he was offended by their distortion and playing at maximum density, as if there were rules you had to follow when playing music. I also remember visiting friends and my brother in Washington in the 90's as a lot of fun, it wasn't until I moved there later that I hated it, everyday some smartass painted the sky gray and then thought it wise to immortalize the town's drug problem with a giant needle with a flashing red tip. p.s. no offense meant to any rednecks by the posting of this post.

Yeah, I saw them play with Mudhoney at the Crocodile and talked with Jared when he was selling shirts and cds, so many good shows at the Croc. Grunge, funny time in music, and did funny things to that town, your last vid reminded me of godheadsilo, saw them in LA:

Sting - Shape of My Heart (Official Music Video):
NlwIDxCjL-8
Lyrics:
He deals the cards as a meditation
And those he plays never suspect
He doesn't play for the money he wins
He don't play for respect
He deals the cards to find the answer
The sacred geometry of chance
The hidden law of a probable outcome
The numbers lead a dance
I know that the spades are the swords of a soldier
I know that the clubs are weapons of war
I know that diamonds mean money for this art
But that's not the shape of my heart
He may play the jack of diamonds
He may lay the queen of spades
He may conceal a king in his hand
While the memory of it fades
I know that the spades are the swords of a soldier
I know that the clubs are weapons of war
I know that diamonds mean money for this art
But that's not the shape of my heart
And if I told you that I loved you
You'd maybe think there's something wrong
I'm not a man of too many faces
The mask I wear is one
Well, those who speak know nothin'
And find out to their cost
Like those who curse their luck in too many places
And those who fear are lost
I know that the spades are the swords of a soldier
I know that the clubs are weapons of war
I know that diamonds mean money for this art
But that's not the shape of my heart
That's not the shape, the shape of my heart
That's not the shape, the shape of my heart
Shape of my Heart - Dominic Miller 1993:
XqzFcOWPlWc
Great band with Mike Lindup of Level 42 (https://www.youtube.com/@level4260/videos) on keys. Excellent!
"Shape of My Heart" is a song by British musician Sting (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sting_(musician)), released in August 1993 as the fifth single from his fourth solo album, Ten Summoner's Tales (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ten_Summoner%27s_Tales) (1993). The song was co-written by guitarist Dominic Miller (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dominic_Miller) and features harmonica played by Larry Adler (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Larry_Adler). It was used for the end credits of the 1994 film Léon (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/L%C3%A9on:_The_Professional),[2] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shape_of_My_Heart_(Sting_song)#cite_note-2) starring Jean Reno (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jean_Reno), Gary Oldman (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gary_Oldman) and Natalie Portman (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Natalie_Portman), and within the 1993 film Three of Hearts (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Three_of_Hearts_(1993_film)).[3] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shape_of_My_Heart_(Sting_song)#cite_note-3) Despite failing to reach the top 50 in the UK upon its release, it has become a pop classic (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pop_music) and one of Sting's works most closely associated with his solo career. It has since been sampled in many tracks since its release, including "Shape (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shape_(song))" (2003) by Sugababes (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sugababes) and "Rise & Fall (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rise_%26_Fall_(Craig_David_song))" (2003) by Craig David (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Craig_David). Ann-Margret (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ann-Margret) sang a cover over the opening credits of her 1996 movie Blue Rodeo (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_Rodeo_(film))[4] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shape_of_My_Heart_(Sting_song)#cite_note-4)The song's guitar riff was also sampled by Nas (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nas) for his track "The Message" in 1996 and interpolated (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interpolation_(popular_music)) by Juice WRLD (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Juice_WRLD) on the worldwide hit "Lucid Dreams (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lucid_Dreams_(Juice_Wrld_song))" (2018), on "You’re Mines Still (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/You%27re_Mines_Still)" (2020) by rapper BLEU (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yung_Bleu) and in "Parkstone Drive" by Russ (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russ_(rapper)).[5] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shape_of_My_Heart_(Sting_song)#cite_note-5)

Absolutley love the Cure's Robert Smith. He's so down to earth. He once helped me out carrying a really heavy old TV (40" cathode tube generation).
If you ever meet him in person you would realise he's built like a tank nowadays, yet a gentle hearted lovely guy.

Jambo,
One of the best shows I ever saw was the Cure in '85. Didn't really know anything about them except for their radio and MTV hits but my friends and I thought we'd go sneak in at Irvine Meadows, CA, as we frequently did back then (getting in was half the fun!), and take some mushrooms. What a night. I remember meeting girls at these huge elephant hangars (it was next to Lion Country Safari in those days), watching my friend tracing lines with his cigarette as he spoke to them (the girls not the elephants), and a friend telling me later that he saw me walk through barbed wire sneaking through the last of the bushes to get in, ahhhh, good ol' mushrooms...
But the music that night was truly other world. I snuck down pretty close and just stood like a statue mesmerized as one song after another just pummeled me and transported me to another world, like one of those Grateful Dead experiences, ya know? Been a true fan ever since.

"I wish I could just stop
I know another moment will break my heart
Too many tears
Too many times
Too many years I've cried for you
It's always the same
Wake up in the rain
Head in pain
Hung in shame
A different name
Same old game
Love in vain
And miles and miles and miles and miles and miles
Away from home again"

Music ok, but punks with masks? if you are really a punk(not the poster, I mean in "general") you piss on everything
that the Matrix construct "offer you"...you have a natural disgust for "plastic culture" you want it raw and real...
How can celebrate with your Colleagues in tribe, beer contest and the such?...wait! I must put my mask again!
how to kiss the sensual lips from your new hottie that night? (if she is sooo dumb to pick you...)
Be a punk with mask? then you are a fraud, a poser.
I feel sorry for that young adults, listen music and dancing with mask... their are lost in the Matrix, that's the opposite from rebellion.
you want to be a punk? then collect all masks from all people and BURN it ! :flame:

Sweet Dreams: How Eurythmics Outraged America and Made MTV I New British Canon:
aOWZJkQDoLw
When MTV first launched, there simply weren’t enough music videos to fill their 24 hour format. This forced the young channel to take a chance on previously-unknown-in-the-US artists to fill time, including A Flock of Seagulls, Adam and the Ants, The Buggles, U2, Spandau Ballet & Visage. It paid off: within a couple of years a whole wave of videogenic British New Pop bands would take over the Billboard Chart, almost single-handedly creating what was called The Second British Invasion. But even in the age of MTV, The Eurythmics were striking. Annie Lennox's orange close-cropped hair and sleek tailored suit stood apart from other female pop stars of the time. The swirling darkness of their breakthrough single would define the sound of the 80s forever more. This is New British Canon and this is the story of “Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This).”

Vicus, I couldn't agree more, and to take it one step further, I always thought punk was a really stupid word and why would anyone want to be associated with such a stupid designation? I always found straight punk extremely boring, three chords played fast over and over, and got really tired of the uniform - docs or converse, jeans rolled up, tight t-shirts and leather jackets, tattoos, blah, blah, blah. I always considered myself anti-punk. I refused to get tattoos out of principle, as if to say, "**** punk rock and all the posers associated with it." I'm not punk, I'm just me, but I can appreciate the spirit that started it, the raw attitude that originally inspired it, and yes, masks are the antithesis of that untamed spirit...

[Verse 1]
I've been drivin' all night, my hands wet on the wheel
There's a voice in my head that drives my heel
It's my baby callin', says, "I need you here"
And it's a-half-past four and I'm shifting gear
[Pre-Chorus]
When she is lonely and the longing gets too much
She sends a cable coming in from above
Don't need no phone at all
[Chorus]
We've got a thing and that's a-called radar love
We've got a wave in the air
Radar love
[Verse 2]
The radio's playing some forgotten song
Brenda Lee's "Coming On Strong"
The road has got me hypnotized
And I'm a-speedin' into a new sunrise
[Pre-Chorus]
When I get lonely and I'm a-sure I've had enough
She sends her comfort coming in from above
We don't need no letter at all
[Chorus]
We've got a thing that's called a-radar love
We've got a line in the sky
Radar love
[Verse 3]
No more speed, I'm almost there
Gotta keep cool now, gotta take care
Last car to pass, here I go
And the line of cars drove down real slow
And the radio played that forgotten song
Brenda Lee's "Coming On Strong"
And the newsman sang his same song
Oh, one more radar lover gone

Ring, ring, it's 7:00 A.M.
Move yourself to go again
Cold water in the face
Brings you back to this awful place
Knuckle merchants and your bankers too
Must get up and learn those rules
Weather man and the crazy chief
One says sun and one says sleet
A.M., the F.M. the P.M. too
Churnin' out that boogaloo
Gets you up and it gets you out
But how long can you keep it up?
Gimme Honda, gimme Sony
So cheap and real phony
Hong Kong dollar, Indian cents
English pounds and Eskimo pence
You lot, what?
Don't stop, give it all you got
You lot, what?
Don't stop, yeah
You lot, what?
Don't stop, give it all you got
You lot, what?
Don't stop, yeah
Working for a rise, better my station
Take my baby to sophistication
Seen the ads, she thinks it's nice
Better work hard, I seen the price
Never mind that it's time for the bus
We got to work and you're one of us
Clocks go slow in a place of work
Minutes drag and the hours jerk
Yeah, wave bye, bye
(When can I tell 'em what I do?)
(In a second, maan, alright Chuck)
Wave bub-bub-bub-bye to the boss
It's our profit, it's his loss
But anyway the lunch bells ring
Take one hour, do your thang
Cheeesboiger
What do we have for entertainment?
Cops kickin' gypsies on the pavement
Now the news has snapped to attention
Lunar landing of the dentist convention
Italian mobster shoots a lobster
Seafood restaurant gets out of hand
A car in the fridge, a fridge in the car
Like cowboys do in TV land
You lot, what?
Don't stop, give it all you got
You lot, what?
Don't stop, huh
You lot, what?
Don't stop, give it all you got, yeah
You lot, what?
Don't stop
So get back to work and sweat some more
The sun will sink and we'll get out the door
It's no good for man to work in cages
Hit the town, he drinks his wages
You're frettin', you're sweatin'
But did you notice, you ain't gettin'
You're frettin', you're sweatin'
But did you notice, not gettin' anywhere
Don't you ever stop, a long enough to start
Take your car outta that gear
Don't you ever stop, long enough to start
Get your car outta that gear
Karlo Marx and Frederick Engels
Came to the checkout at the seven on eleven
Marx was skint but he had sense
Engels lent him the necessary pence
What have we got? Yeah, ooh
What have we got? Yeah, ooh
What have we got? Magnificence
What have we got?
Luther King and Mahatma Gandhi
Went to the park to check on the game
But they was murdered by the other team
Who went on to win fifty-nil
You can be true, you can be false
You'll be given the same reward
Socrates and Milhous Nixon
Both went the same way through the kitchen
Plato the Greek or Rin Tin Tin
Who's more famous to the billion millions?
News flash, 'Vacuum cleaner sucks up budgie'
Ooh, bye-bye, bub-bye

Being a teenager in the 80's, I always loved the Carpenter soundtracks, everyone of them has such vivid memories for me and added such depth to his films, the simple piano notes to Halloween was masterful. I remember a friend and I in 6th grade were going to camp in the back yard after watching The Thing - um, f' that! That movie scared us so bad even inside the house was a challenge, outside in a tent - forget it. But I never saw this poster before, or if I did, I never noticed the words under the title. Brings it to a whole new level:

Ultravox - Vienna [Official 1080p HD Remastered Video]:
VVkHZz0WOqs
You are watching the official remastered HD video for ‘Vienna’ by Ultravox.
A timeless classic, ‘Vienna’ reached number 2 in the UK charts in January 1981, selling over half a million copies in the UK. The video was directed by Russel Mulcahy
filmed on location on a day trip to Vienna and in Covent Garden and the Kilburn State Theatre in London. The video perfectly captures the early 80’s video boom.
Video Remastered by Nacho
Taken from Ultravox's Vienna [Deluxe Edition] 5CD/DVD 40th Anniversary box set is out now:
ultravox.lnk.to/vienna40th (https://ultravox.lnk.to/vienna40th)
Lyrics:
We walked in the cold air
Freezing breath on a window pane
Lying and waiting
A man in the dark in a picture frame
So mystic and soulful
A voice reaching out in a piercing cry
It stays with you until
The feeling has gone, only you and I
It means nothing to me
This means nothing to me
Oh, Vienna
The music is weaving
Haunting notes, pizzicato strings
The rhythm is calling
Alone in the night as the daylight brings
A cool empty silence
The warmth of your hand and a cold grey sky
It fades to the distance
The image has gone, only you and I
It means nothing to me
This means nothing to me
Oh, Vienna
This means nothing to me
This means nothing to me
Oh, Vienna
I was 15 years old listening to this for the first time and was in love with all kinds of "Synth Pop (https://spinditty.com/genres/Best-Synth-Pop-Bands)" bands that has Soul !!

I also love watching the faces in his audience as they respond to such exquisite perfection - his voice literally transports those who can resonate to higher realms.
And the PURITY of his - Malakai, 13 year old on Britain's got talent - again, the responses of the audience to such angelic purity are really enjoyable.

In the early 90s, the owner of the best little record store in town tried to turn me on to these guys but I just didn't get it, too much good new music coming out to look back. Today, seeing the live clips, I understand. This is one of my all time favorites, shows Joy Division at the height of their powers, and you gotta love those moves by Ian:

Nice live energy! I can throw in an early half man half biscuit off the back of that one, one of their rare recorded appearances. I went to see them live after their third album (McIntyre, Treadmore and Davitt which is my favorite of theirs so far), but they mostly sang songs about the state of football . Was great to see them even if I didn't relate to that one.
They always do funny songs but in a bitter, sardonic way. We had a childrens show called Trumpton, which featured a bunch of stop frame animation puppets who lived in the fictional village of Trumpton, and half man half biscuit wrote a song about them having riots, some characters getting a gruesome end.
Here it is!

Luv - No Johnny No Can Do
Super trio Luv was widely popular and scored a string of hits in the late 1970's and early 1980's.
At one point they were nr. 1 in 19 countries at the same time, sometimes visiting 3 different countries in 1 day with their private Concorde.
This fabulous track appeared in 1994 on a comeback cd but was totally overlooked. At that moment in time I had a relationship with the girl in the middle and she still is one of my closest friends.

I'm listening to this again. It really is a very nice bit of breakbeat in my very humble opinion.
Mixes like this should be compared to classical concertos, but with DJ mixes the musical components made by individual teams or people, then the DJ melds a choice selection of those into one long musical journey. The hours of production that go into each track in the mix, then mixed cohesively and deliberately by what could be compared to a conductor I guess; it's the closest match when smashing the two paradigms together. But otherwise a DJ and a conductor couldn't be more different.

Incantations-
End of days end of days - This is how it starts - this is how things fall apart - and we’re
left in the dust just spitting up pieces of broken hearts - you - you I name you - a
crawling doubt - may you turn to bone meal - I cast thee out - you shall become the
loam - as we watch like hawks on a pole - crossing into the mist - straying over the
boundary - seething - in the teeming undergrowth - hidden where none can see - the
center can’t hold - ‘cause at the center is greed - we’ll bury you in the deepest trench -
shackled - in the sea - burn you out from your hidey-holes - erase you from history - end
of days end of days - you - you I name you - fade with haste - may you turn to bone
meal - and be laid to waste - for you - your time has come - you’re through - your reign
is done..

That's a better cover than this one that it brings to my mind: but this one is ok; Pitman off the album "It takes a nation of tossers".
Pitman makes his own lyrics, inspired from his "life as a coal pit worker" which is his theme. For example he says "Me mam said give you a clout", but it's a clever parody/tribute to the original imho
But that death metal one you posted is really good!

I don't know who's more wasted, Ultra Vivid Scene or The La's? In both songs the innuendo is not subtle but it hides in plain sight.

But unsubtle drug references didn't help them, and The La's evaporated into Cast because that other guy who was in it walked away.

Lyrics:
If I was a king of a land
I’d free every woman and man
I’d let them go
I’d set them free, to serve You
If I knew every fish in the sea
And every bird in the tree
I’d hear their call
I’d hear them speak Your name
If I ran the schools of this world
I’d teach every boy and girl
I’d let them learn the truth
I’d let them know Your glory
If I had stairs to the sky
I’d raise my voice up there high
I’d want the world to hear
Your perfect words and thank You
If I had a mountain of gold
I’d try to feed every poor soul
And give them hope again
And let them taste Your bounty
If I could reach every dream
I still would search the unseen
To find a way
That leads us to Your mercy
If I was a king of a land
I’d free every woman and man

Most of the time I'm working on my blog, a music blog, mostly about Indonesian music but I also post other music from Asia, jazz, post-punk, hip hop, all kinds of stuff. So I'm almost always busy recording, uploading etc., trying to find information about the artists that I post about which, when it comes to Indonesian music can be HARD, so many forgotten artists here, specially when it comes to traditional music.... There loads and loads of foreigners coming here, a steady stream, looking to buy vinyl and tapes, but mostly they return empty handed, there's just almost nothing to find anymore these days, emptied out by those foreigners plus the youngsters have gotten into collecting like crazy now, it's insane... I've been collecting here for some 22 years and I have an insanely huge collection now, thousands of records, thousands of tapes....
Right now I'm recording/listening to jaipong music. Jaipong has an interesting history, back in the early 60's Indonesia's first president, Sukarno, was waging his war against "decadent Western music", especially against The Beatles. People who had a "Beatles haircut" would be arrested, brought to the city center and shaved bald, it's a crazy, crazy story really, maybe I'll write more about that later.... Sukarno challenged the Indonesian artists, "Come with something new, something that has the pure Indonesian spirit". A young choreographer/composer named Gugum Gumbira took up the challenge and for the next 15 years or so he traveled all over West-Java, studying the various forms of traditional music and from that he developed a style of music called Jaipong and he developed a dancing style that goes with it....
He came out with it in 1978, at a show in Hong Kong, started his own recording company called Jugala and put out his first cassette called Daun Pulus Keser Bojong and it set Indonesia on fire, hundreds and hundreds of groups started recording, many, many schools opened up where you could learn the dances.... In the 90's the popularity of jaipong started to decline, but nowadays it is as popular as ever again, specially in the villages and the shows can get very wild... Some 10 years ago I met Gugum Gumbira and we became good friends, up until his death some 3 and a half years ago....
I posted this one on my youtube channel a few days ago, it's just one of the many styles of jaipong in existence:
FVrwJlcL7ZE
Hope some of you here will like it :)
Oh, and many, many jaipong tapes to download here on my blog, all for free of course:

A few days ago I posted some Indonesian jaipong music and I talked briefly about Indonesia's first President, Sukarno, and the war he was waging against rock 'n roll music and his intense hatred towards The Beatles.... One band that caught up in all this was Koes Bersaudara (Koes Brothers), they were putting out albums at the time that were heavily influenced by The Everly Brothers. In the beginning of 1965 they were going to play at a private party of an army general in Jakarta and during the sound-check they played the beginning chords of The Beatles song I Saw Her Standing There. They were immediately arrested and spend the next 6 months in jail. They came out when the great slaughter began, the CIA sponsored coup that saw Sukarno ousted ans Suharto taking power (for the next 32 years). Nobody knows how many people were slaughtered during those terrible times, estimates range from anywhere between half a million to around 4 million... When the madness started to die down in 1967 a bit Koes Bersaudara came out with their first album after their jail time, a very, very angry album, called To The So Called The Guilties, great stuff and I would call it proto punk....
Here's a song from it, directed at Sukarno.... Poor Clown....

Speaking of getting into trouble because of music....
In 2005 I put out an album, called 18 Slingshot's, I produced all the music on it, working with some 21 Indonesian rappers and musicians, lots of hip hop and experimental music. On that album there's one song called Pajagalan (Slaughter House) with Morgue Vanguard from Bandung's rap/punk outfit Homicide. Profanity is not done in Indonesia but on this song Morgue went all out, calling out the generals, the politicians and the right wing extremist Muslim organizations in the worst language you can imagine.... Morgue was already in hot water over a track he and Homicide put out called Puritan (Godblessed Fascists) and the Pajagalan track was the last straw, we were both put on the death-list of some very violent organisations, the Islam Defenders Front one of them... I wasn't all that worried, living far outside the city in a small village but Morgue had to go underground for a while, always with protection from folks out of the punk community here.... I'm still surprised we never got arrested over our track and even now, after 18 years that song remains very popular in the Indonesian, Singapore and Malaysian underground.....
XbU_dEF9RkM
This track deals with book burnings by extremist right wing Muslim groups in Bandung in the early 2000's, they would come to bookshops, beat every body up, very, very violent and destroy the shops and all their books....
FY-TTmyJiqY
Over the years I've worked with a lot of folks, here's a track I did with a few rappers from Spokane, Washington State....

Lot of people doing that around here too and they got hit by a touch of rain yesterday after they cut it, but it wasn't too much so should be ok, especially with the hot weather hitting this weekend. We got ours in early this year and now just waiting for a second cutting of alfalfa, non-gmo of course (then again who knows with all that **** they keep spraying us with...)
Loved the potential in the music back then, really popped off the page you know, you really felt it? Then it morphed into that 90s sound that was definitely my favorite decade for creativity, experimentation, and high strangeness. Peace.

Funny you should say that because a traumatic past is definitely what i've been digesting some three decades now. I'm better now and have a more grounded outlook thank god, that which doesn't kill us... Ironically, on that note, the iconic american saying originally said, "the right to life, liberty, and property" and they took out property and inserted "the pursuit of happiness" because they want us to eating bugs and being happy right? Happiness is illusive, unattainable, it's like hope, setting your sights on the future and not being here in the present, I really think that's why they replaced property with happiness, yet another diversion... Sorry, much love to all, had a couple drinks and now I'm running on.

L.O.E - Secret Societies Rule The World-
Secret Societies Rule The World is our dystopian look at how the global elite control our societies.
The establishments are shrouded in secrecy and corruption is a worldwide machine that
continues to be fed by mainstream media propaganda.
Secret societies seem to rule the world and the news outlets only serve to fuel an already biased
narrative in favour of the super rich. Lies & distrust are amplified and spread until they plant roots
that divide us all.
Secret Societies Rule The World was inspired by a powerful feeling of unease at our current state
of global affairs and the misinformation that is fed to us by news sources. We wanted to create a
soundtrack for our frustrations and despair at the inequality and injustice that we all face.
This song was initially inspired by classical orchestration and film scores. It is incredibly powerful
how classical compositions can underpin a narrative and create such dramatic emphasis.
Secret Societies Rule The World began its life as a string and piano piece that paired perfectly
with John F Kennedy’s powerful address to the American Society Of Newspaper Editors in 1961.
The full band instrumentation aims to capture the frustration and aggression that built at the
growing disparity amongst us all.
Secret Societies Rule The World is our war cry! It is our reminder that together we are stronger!

Floydsbreakbeat knocks it out the park again. He must spend all his time listening to breakbeat, he makes it look easy. This guy must have that DJ obsessiveness and from my humble experience I would advise not talking to him about sound engineering at a party unless you are NOT bored by a twenty minute monologue brain-dump of sound-nerdness. What I don't say is, is it really that complicated? Just turn those knobs up till everything flashes red and its so loud you can't see straight because your face is throbbing and your head explodes.

if you dont like rap read this;
This is the master thesis underneath the deepness
Come to micclub.net where you can read this
Run a plot on a map hyper space 'ya
From the society for scientific exploration
Color is vibration, vibration is sound
Sound resonates through the mouth check it out
What I say vibrates no less than 9 ways
South, South East, West, south west, east
North, North east, North west
And the black and white images fade
To great sound waves
Track my adversaries like a mouse in a maze
With a bewildering array, of lyrical display
The best of Bis oribtially rearrange
Mono atomic elements, with a deft intelligence
The highest professorship, my English etiquette
Compels me to not say it if I can't spell it bitch
My circularised 3rd Eye, sees all
Atlantis was surrounded by 4 sea walls
I read one-fourth of the Library of Alexandria
Before it was burnt to the floor
I wish I could've learned more
About the shapes of the sacred geometry they used to draw
They were new millennium but Euclidian in form
Ancient in many ways but not nearly as old
Carved from Egyptian gold molded in Assyria
With processed Beryllium by the quintillion
They cooked on symmetrical stoves
With my logo etched above the hole where they inserted the coal
And they barbecued birds to the bone
They burned incense in a Buckminster Fuller type dome
I talked to Mr. Fuller over the phone
And he said he had a contract to rebuild Rome
Said he didn't want to do it alone
I told him I was busy writing poems
But I'll think about going
The process was slow, and the dough was low
But I took it as the perfect opportunity to grow
Plus I never traveled that far from home
But I heard about the beauty of Sydonian (city of ancient Phoenicia) snow
Neon green grass, statues made from translucent glass
I'll be crazy to pass
I like nigerian Jazz
The blue twilight band
That plays tunes from a laser black sax
It sounds so laid back
It helps me relax
I brought the album after seeing K-Pax
Ooh how I miss my nautilus
I was told faren goat and mcdotilus did not exist
You have a modest case of scaphocephalous
I prescribe some neo gothic anti-biotics
Words concocted from the lyrical lock smith
Deadly as 10 droplets of Ricin toxin
From every angle the competition gets boxed in
Its Dr. see indoctrinates his doctrine
Translate the English alphabet
To the omega text
Life is now and death is next
Post bond out on bail from the belly of hell
Communicate through diatonic and pentatonic scale
These dark side tales might affect sales
I set sail and hunt down erect sperm whales
Use the aphrodisiac to get a female
Call ginger tie her up and drink her ginger ale
Grand maryey for me scotch on the rocks for you
Your vocab is smaller than a cup of jewels
In the studio with james lipton
Reminiscing about the script that was written
Before the beginning
All of a sudden the boo's turned into applause
My jaws stronger then the kenenday Macaws
Can't even count the bars
I've expended so far
Don't want to rap no more its been so long
I wish the clock would hurry up and tick
I'm out in the bush and the sticks
Humpin a hundred clicks
Dr scholes gave me a good fit
Me and him went to school together back in 86
When I was really ill
Puttin flank energy in a rhyme the size of a Tylenol pill
You wanna laugh now
And cast your belligerent doubt
Show you what poetry is really about
The side affects will make you pass out
Followed by skin rash
Itching diarrhea nausea and dry mouth
You want a time out?
You better spit a rhyme out
Before the community of real mc's die out
College students say to me "you ain't smart"
Record label A&Rs say: "this ain't art"
These are the contents of the covenant of the art
Listen to my chest beat tell me this ain't heart
You gotta be as obsequious
As the Disciples of Jesus
This is my MASTER THESIS

Saw him live in Amsterdam, in Paradiso, he's way, way more harder live than his albums, fantastic concert, he stage dived right on top of my head which wasn't so good but not as bad as when Sen Dog from Cypress Hill stage dived on top of my head, back in '92, their first concert in Holland, he lost his sneaker during his stage dive and they stopped the show, refused to continue unless the sneaker was returned,"We want the sneaker!!!!" Audience: "**** THE SNEAKER!!!", went back and forth for a while but when he finally got his sneaker back the show went on, insane that show, when I came out I somehow lost my t-shirt and it was winter, had to make my way back home to Rotterdam freezing....
Seen a lot of really good shows, my first one was Public Enemy, EPMD, The Afro's, Inteligent Hoodlum and the Young Black Teenagers, I think '89, maybe '90, they didn't want to sell me a ticket, said "you're white! you won't last out there!!!", but I got my ticket, place was packed, Ahoy in Rotterdam, 6500 people, maybe 10 whites in the place if that and I had a blast, blew my mind.... Eric B & Rakim back in '91 was incredible as was Das Efx the year after.... Gang Starr around that time was amazing too, way before they blew up, one time just Guru and Dj Premier, one time with Jeru....
A really incredible concert was The Disposable Heroes Of Hiphopricy in Den Haag, probably '92.... They blew up the speakers so they had to get other speakers. That took an hour or so but it didn't matter, they just did an amazing acoustic jazz set, Michael Franti doing poetry till new speakers came, don't see many acts that could do that.... The Roots maybe :)

Always thought Sade was something special, lot of good memories attached to that voice. The End of Days David Icke intro reminds me of Bukowski in Barfly, "Hey, Toni baby, nobody who could ever write worth a damn could write in peace...Jesus." "I take it you don't care for my world," she says. "Baby, look around, it's a cage with golden bars."
And thanks for reminding me of The Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy (that word was hard to remember, always just wanted to say hypocrisy.)

Great time in music back then, still kicking myself for missing the Beastie Boys, Cypress Hill, Rollins Band show in 91 or 2. This was more my neck of the woods in those days and is a good snapshot of the high strangeness I mentioned earlier.

Oh you did :) Seen Public Enemy twice actually, second time was with Anthrax when they did their Bring The Noise tour in '91.... Like I said, you really didn't see a lot of white folks at those concerts back then, hip hop was seen as militant and political as hell and for me, coming out of the old punk scene (yeah... I'm old) it was the next logical step at the time, it was black punk rock to me... So many great concerts.... Krs-One was fantastic as was De La Soul... Lords of the Underground.... Masta Ace with Punch & Words with Dj Avee on the wheels was amazing, El-P with Mr. Lif and RJD2, Akrobatik, Son of Bazerk (twice), Tim Dog, Kool Keith (twice) was fantastic, Slum Village was incredible, another really great concert was Black Moon, Heltah Skeltah, Smiff & Wesson with Sean Price, The Pharcyde was great, Saw The Fugees before they blew up in a little venue and later again at a big venue when they were big, Nas was Lauren Hill's boyfriend at the time and he did a set on a small stage before the show, nobody knew him yet back then.... And what's that Southern band again, they were huge for a short time in the 90's.... Arrested Development! That was a great show!! Beastie Boys were cool, saw them in Belgium.... And so much more....
Missed a lot of concerts too 'cause I was working in a cafe in Rotterdam, bouncing, usually ready at 2.30 AM and then go out and party, wild, wild times, loads of ehrrr... stimulants :)
One cool concerts was The Goats, I think they were from Miami, I had a spontaneous wrestling match with one of the rappers which was fun, ended in a draw and a big hug :)
BJQaAsg0yHs
One thing that would happen.... Acts that had the audience waiting.... And waiting.... An hour, two hours late, and then only perform for 15 minutes, very, very arrogant, I saw Onyx do that, and House of Pain.... Give me Jeru the Damaja, saw him twice, one time with Gang Starr one time solo and he would just jump off the stage after the show, get a beer and mingle....
But that was the 90's.... The very best concert for me will always be James White (later James Change) & The Contortions in Rotterdam, 1981, I was 16 and it was the very first concert where I danced, danced and danced, two hours of insane funk.....

I like that San Diego clip :) Looking back musically the most interesting time, for me anyway, was what they now call the "post-punk" era, so many great band and so much inventiveness, I still listen to bands like the Talking Heads, The Stranglers, This Heat, The Slits etc. ...
One time in Rotterdam, around '94 a very tall, very weird American guy came in the cafe where I was working. My job was cleaning the tables, collecting empty glasses and bottles, keeping the fridges full, handle trouble if there was trouble and selling weed and hash, and this guy bought A LOT. Only after he left was I told that that was Helios Creed. I wish I'd known! I would've given him a big block of Moroccan hash for free just to thank him for the music. He was a member of Chrome together with Damon Edge and I was a Chrome Head for years....
kZfGrdRcTyc
And still beating myself over the head for missing Metabolist when they played in Rotterdam back in '82....
nIfPGxOtpNo
But one of the bands that made the biggest impact on me was This Heat, those guys were phenomenal.....
wtuo57K3ERQ
Man, listening to this takes me back... So many incredible bands back then... Gang Of Four, Wire, Palais Schaumburg, Abwaerts, Einsturzende Neubauten, Teenage Jesus & The Jerks, The Residents and Snakefinger etc. etc. etc. ....

I remember hearing Chrome songs on the college radio stations when I had a delivery job driving the streets of LA. They tried to send me to Compton the day after Reginald Denny got pulled from his truck during the Rodney King riots. I said, "No way man. Do you remember what color I am? I'm not going there today." So they sent me to Beverly Hills instead. I drove down Hwy 10 and it was a scene out of a war movie. The city was on fire and there was so much smoke it felt like night. I got to BH and walked into office to make the delivery and there were these two girls at the front office - one white and one black. The white lady is pacing around frantically and says, "The news just said the rioters made it to Beverly Hills and they mentioned a street nearby." And the large black lady says, "Ah child, you just relax. Ain't nothing to worry about, everything gonna be fine." I just laughed. I'll never forget that exchange.
Later I made a delivery to Hollywood and had to turn around at a major intersection because burning furniture had been thrown from the stores into the street and had it completely blocked, and while I was stopped trying to figure out how to turn around along with everyone else, I glanced around and saw nothing but young black men running around, some of them eyeing me angrily like they wanted to rip me from my truck, while tv crews chased them trying to get it all on film. It felt like I'd driven onto the set of Escape from LA.
Being another white guy, I only skirted the rap scene back then, although I did enjoy some of the early stuff of that era like Public Enemy, NWA, Ice Cube, Ice-T, Body Count, back when they were still fightin' the power and not just singing about sefl-indulgence and ego. I got more into that experimental era after punk, post-punk and hardcore I guess you could call post-hardcore or emotive hardcore. You sound a tiny bit older than me as I was...

How Reginald Denny survived that attack is beyond me and I've seen an interview with him, amazing guy, no hateful feelings at all.... Those riots in LA were something else. The Koreans were freaking amazing, and you are very, very lucky to have come out ok....
In 1998 when the Suharto regime fell I was on my way from Bandung to Jakarta to take a flight to Holland and my taxi got stuck in one of the mass demonstrations, close to the airport. They started smashing in the windows of the taxi and only the quick thinking of that driver saved me. He hid me under a blanket and somehow managed to get out and drove me all the way back to Bandung.... At night we saw Jakarta burning that night, on tv, pandemonium at the airport with Chinese trying to get out because they were killing and raping them in Jakarta.... Next morning, stupidly, I tried again, took the train to Jakarta but half way there the train stopped because the whole station (Purwakarta) was on fire... We were picked up bu busses and brought to Jakarta, an English couple sat in front of me with a daughter, maybe 3 or 4 years old. I saw them later again, on tv, they were dragged out of a taxi, mercilessly beaten and robbed.... When I arrived in Jakarta it was already dark. Everything was on fire, houses, stores, malls, groups were running around looting and I was alone walking the streets. Military in tanks would come up to me shouting that I was insane, a bule (white person) alone there. Made my way to Jalan Jaksa where all the backpack hotels were and everything was boarded up... What to do?? Then I saw a taxi and he stopped, to the airport!! The driver was HUGE, I mean, he must've been 300 pounds with a huge, huge afro, it was like sitting next to Andre the Giant, and after a while I realized that he was not driving to the airport and I got scared, I'm going to get robbed at least.... My Indonesian was still pretty bad back then but we were talking a bit and at one point I said "Alhamdulillah" (Praise be to God) it's what they say all the time here and he stopped the car, asked me, are you a Muslim??? Yes, I am (I'm not but my wife and her whole family is) and he hugged me, said "you are my brother!!! I will bring you to the airport!!!" and he did. At the airport it was crazy. Not a soul, nobody while the day before it was insane there, so I easily got a plane to Holland.... Very, very lucky, two English guys were found on that road close to the airport with their throats cut, other foreigners were murdered here in West java...
I've been in quite a few pretty insane situations, got taken prisoner by Karen rebels in North Thailand with a small group of tourists, that's really a very crazy story, back in '92... Got caught with weed some 15 years ago and went through some torture here, cost me my upper teeth and quite a bit of money to stay out of jail... Tropical diseases.... Insane stuff when I was still living in Holland, growing weed in greenhouses and stuff, working with Feyenoord football hooligans (and I never was a Hoolie myself).... The punk/neo-nazi skinhead wars back in the early 80's....
Just happy to be still in one piece, kind of, 58 years old now and just being busy with music all the time, up in the mountains in a small village on the slopes of a mighty volcano :) Being a father and a grand dad....
Like the youtube vids, didn't know those bands! Ah, I saw Ice T with Bodycount btw, at Roskilde Festival in Denmark in '95 :) Some pretty insane stories there too, I was working at festivals in Germany and Denmark that year...

Madrotter,
You're a damned war veteran after all those crazy experiences, or maybe you're actually a cat, be careful, I think you're down to one or two lives at this point. I made it to Indonesia in '94 during my year in Australia. We met some models from Jakarta. One of them was one of the most beautiful women I'd ever seen. While we were dancing at a club she got angry at another girl dancing nearby, they had words for a moment and then all seemed to be fine again. A moment later, while passing close, she slammed a beer bottle over her head, it shattered and the girl crumpled to the floor, and the model went on dancing as if nothing happened. Security took the injured girl out and did nothing to the culprit. I let another Australian take her home that night, lol. Heard Jakartans are not the friendliest bunch, especially to non Muslims, so never made it there. Apparently the Jakartan models came to Kuta to find husbands to get them off the islands. Karen rebels, sorry, that sounds really funny in today's world, I picture you held hostage by that montage of screaming and crying little sjw's with colored hair, yelling at you to stop using mean words and for not using the right pronouns, haha.
This was the song playing when she hit that girl. To this day, I can never hear that beat without seeing that scene.

Hahaha I never made that Karen connection :) My very first backpack trip, '92... Didn't like Bangkok, too busy, too hot, took a train to Chang Mai right away and in the hotel they asked if I wanted to go on a 3 day jungle trip the next morning... Sure thing! It was me, and Irish girl, a Canadian couple and three Italians.... The Italians didn't know a word of English, all they knew was marihuana pleaaase, opium pleaaase!!! First night in a small village in the jungle, the whole smoking opium thing, didn't do much for me.... By the end of the second day, after walking the whole day our guide came clean... "I'm not a guide, my brother is but he got sick and now we're lost.... " More walking and we came upon a group of men, only dressed in loincloths and armed with guns and they took us to a very small village. It wasn't even a village, just some huts. Our guide told us to be very careful, to do anything they told us to do, to give them anything we had on us because they were Karen rebels and very, very dangerous... The Italians had no clue to what was happening, they just kept begging for weed, and after a while somebody came and dumped a huge pile of weed in front of us and somebody said, you have to eat, so they took a small pig and cut it up alive with huge knives, put chunks in a huge pot over a fire with pineapple and rice, most of us didn't want to eat it but I did, ravenous... Smoking and all off our heads but scared too and it was night.... An old man came to us. Told us he was the leader of that group and would we like to hear a song, sure!!! of course we want to hear a song!!! So he started singing and we're all listening 'cept for the Italians who didn't have a clue and were laughing loudly over that man's singing, his eyes were shooting daggers at the Italians.... Somebody came and whispered in the old man's ear, and he said, sorry, can't finish my song, somebody walked on a mine, his legs are blown off and we have to bring him to a place where a helicopter will come.... Now we're freaked out....
Our guide comes, he's pretty drunk and tells us not to worry, one of them is his old friend, he used to fight together with him in the Red Khmer, the Khmer Rouge!!! Can it get any crazier??? It can... They decide it's late and they walk us to a barn. We get blankets that stink of urine and they lock us up with a guy in front of the door with a machine gun and one guy with a machine gun inside with us... He farts all the time and he edges closer to the Irish girl all the times who edges closer to me, terrified. It's crazy cold... I'm talking to the Canadian couple and the Irish girl, no use talking to the Italians, they're out cold. I said let's try overpowering that guy inside with us, kick in a hole in a wall and get the hell out and they tell me I'm crazy, even if that works, where to go, we're in the middle of the jungle!!! In the end we all just pass out....
Early in the morning our guide wakes us up, tells us to be really quiet, all the Karen's are out cold, from drinking all night and we slowly, quietly get out of there, sometimes walking over a sleeping Karen and we make it into the jungle.... After a while we come up to some guys with elephants, and that's how we got out, on elephants.... Back in the hotel in Chang Mai I'm sitting on my bed thinking, so this is Thailand??? And I still have to do two months here??? Well I went with the Canadian couple to the South of Thailand, to the island of Koh Phi Phi and had a blast, great, great times and I went back the next year and the year after that, all together I spend some 8 months in Thailand, great country but over run with tourists and, back then, very, very dangerous if you didn't know what you were doing....
What you saw in that discotheque in Bali doesn't surprise me at all, Bali can be a rough place, been there many times, way, way safer here in West Java, for a foreigner that is....
The music is incredible here..... I filmed this a little while ago....
xGXUjgBrpLQ
And this, right in front of our house, kuda lumping trance dancing, where the dancers go into a deep trance, get possessed by spirits, change into animals, monkeys, tigers, buffalo, can get very violent at times and you gotta be careful 'cause they can bite, they will rip coconuts apart with their teeth, eat glass, crazy stuff and I love it. It was a bit messy, it's a volleyball field and they were renovating it at that time....
P6VecvUdtA8
Looks like this now... I saw a neighbor last time, she took one of the bamboo horses for fun, moved around a bit, went all white, foaming at the mouth and collapsed, took her a while to get out of it, you do not mess around with this stuff....

First off, apologies to everyone on this thread. Second, your stories conjure up images of Kyle Rittenhouse or the adventures of Harold and Kumar meet The Deer Hunter, fun and crazy at the same time. Guess that's what we do when we're young, though I always tried to opt out of war zones. Glad you're still breathing brother, wild tales. But the Italians always looking for pot reminded me of the Australians always looking for beer and tail. Not long after the LA Riots I quit that job, about the same time all the freeway shootings were starting up. Those freeways were bleak, believe me, but it made me enough money to take off for a while, so I flew to Oz with an Australian who'd been staying with us. Imagine my pleasant surprise when the local surf club is holding their annual awards banquet one week after my arrival, and these blokes were dressed to the nines, women like you've never seen in beautiful gowns, I was falling in love at every step. So everyone's milling about and I'm meeting all the boys and talking to some girls and then it starts - the awards ceremony. Now I grew up surfing competitively in southern california during my youth at one of the real surf meccas in that state, (watch this one
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pAVldo9_6oA I know all those guys, went to the same high school and junior high school with them, surfed contests with them, partied with them, grew up on the same beaches. I was a year younger than Archy so was right in the middle of all it) so was expecting your standard awards ceremony, you know, dinner, then awards for first, second, third, most improved and all that. So while we're eating, the first guy gets up and starts in, very professional but in a humorous way so that he got the crowd involved too. Then the award: "Alright, now I know you're all waitin' for this one so I'll get straight to it." Hoots and hollers from the crowd. "For some of you who may be unfamilia' with the boys, we like to travel and are often away for whole weekends when we hold our contests, make a real go it. Lot happens on those trips eh boys?" Guys are now yelling inside jokes and insults at the commentator who gives it right back like a seasoned roaster until he says, "Right. So this year, the award for the bloke who slept with the ugliest girl goes to ..." and he yells out the name. Now you have to understand that these guys are sitting with their girlfriends, and girlfriends who've spent hours getting dolled up and looking like fricking brides on their wedding nights. The room erupts and some poor soul was forced to stand up before his girlfriend and make the true walk of shame. The next award went for the fattest girl! I just laughed and looked about the room thinking, "So this is Australia huh? It's gonna be a good year."
One of my best friends in the club they called Squidy. This boy was nuts, but in the best kind of way, always smiling, laughing, cracking jokes and just in the best spirits always. They called him Squidy because he was always on the make. Had the most beautiful and sweet girlfriend, I mean gorgeous, yet would go out nights and hit on everything, and he had a strange habit of pissing at the bar while he was ordering drinks, sometimes while even talking to girls, don't ask, like I said, he just didn't operate that way. So we'd be out all night, till nearly four and if he didn't get lucky he would call his girlfriend to come pick him up - and she would! I'm thinking, "where do I get a girl like that?" He and I would always go second and third in the comps they put on, good fun. Funny side note: the guy who always got first drank Miller Genuine Draft thinking he was drinking THE American beer, the power of advertising, and with all those amazing beers right there in Oz, I couldn't believe it. Like Fosters in America I guess...
And got to spend three of the best months of my life in the Margaret River area south of Perth picking grapes at all those beautiful wineries and surfing those amazing uncrowded waves. Lived in a caravan park right at North Point, one of the best waves in the world when it's on, and the owners were a sweet married couple who would tell us, "Alright, if you wanna work show up to the meetings at seven and we'll give you work. If you don't, don't." That caravan park became a big family those months and they were like our parents. We had a group from the Netherlands who'd been following the picking season around the country a couple years, big tanned handsome youths that the girls in town would fight over, literally, never saw anything like it, guys from england, girls from switzerland, a few kiwis, lots of aussies and even some aboriginees. Great memories. After the streets of LA it was like getting my first breath of air. One of the last nights we were all together, we hiked down into one of the caves, lots of caves in the Margaret River area, a good twenty or thirty minutes until we reached a huge cavern with a dry sand floor. It was like three football or soccer fields wide. After placing candles around the perimeter, we set up right in the middle of it and smoked and drank and played guitar and sang songs, it was truly a magic night. Looking back on it, if our lights had gone out I don't think any of us would've made it out alive.
They're not war stories but thought you might get a kick out of em nonetheless. And on the very off chance any of my old mates are reading this, it's been too long and would love to see you all again. This one's for you:

The Specials - The Lunatics (Have Taken Over The Asylum)
"Oddly prophetic and socially relevant"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dy4RZgMmb68&ab_channel=MarkSerrano
Lyrics
… See a clinic full of cynics
Who want to twist the peoples' wrist
They're watching every move we make
We're all included on the list
… The lunatics have taken over the asylum
The lunatics have taken over the asylum
… No nuclear the cowboy told us
And who am I to disagree
'Cause when the madman flips the switch
The nuclear will go for me
… The lunatics have taken over the asylum
The lunatics have taken over the asylum
… I've seen the faces of starvation
But I just can not see the points
'Cause there's so much food here today
That no one wants to take away

Don’t you know: I see this thread pop up many times… I don’t think I’ve really paid attention to it. Always a pity; I’m KAV, which means, when I’m not feeling my way through life, I’m surely listening to how it feels.
Given everything that’s been going on lately, my feelings go back to what I once heard as a hormonal and desperately poetic youth. Two songs, from the same artist:
rSZzyGXCTQk
This one couldn’t be more relevant for me, some 28 years later. Now that I’m entrenched in the mountains, reluctantly leaving the ocean and the beaches of my childhood, I find myself in an entirely different but necessary reality. A long way from ‘home’, armed, self-sufficient, providing for my family and quietly hoping that no-one knows where I am, or that I even exist, I occasionally look out across the mountains to the west; I breathe a sigh of relief that I made a tough decision to leave the big cities. It’s a surreal reality I never thought I’d want, let alone be hoping to be ready for. Yet here I am, and this song is uppermost in my memory:

Wow, very cool post. Thanks Tigger (KAV). You and I are truly brothers in arms living parallel lives on opposite sides of this world they call The Twilight Zone. I had to leave the beach cities of California for the Rockies and now live a mere 30 miles from the Canadian border. Yes, an entirely different yet necessary new reality - armed with cows, goats and growing our own food far from the maddening crowds of the scamdemic. Never saw it coming either until we were living in San Francisco when Trump got elected. Those lunatics lost their minds, constant protests in the streets blocking traffic and chanting nonsense. You ask them a question and get screamed at because they couldn't answer it, it was literally turning into the zombie apocalypse . So we left, after 47 years, in 2017, we left California, and thank god we did before 2020. Never put on a mask, so yeah, we're out in the sticks too. Know what they call summer out here? Getting ready for winter. But I've got Norwegian blood so I like it, growing up in socal (southern California) I would dance like a madman when it rained, we didn't have seasons there, just sunny and hot 12 months a year, was always sunburned. Back then it was a surfboard, guitar and a girlfriend, now most days involve a chainsaw, tractor, and a wife, though I still find time for the guitar. :highfive: One of my girlfriends back then really loved Dire Straits and we listened to the first album on a lot of road trips - I clearly remember driving through the night on mushrooms from Phoenix, Arizona to Albuquerque and Santa Fe, New Mexico and all those amazing red plateaus coming into view around us with the day's first light and then the sun rising perfectly symmetrical and balanced on the highway before us as we drove due east, like we were driving into a beautiful red portal. It was a magic hour, felt like we were entering another world, and Dire Straits first album was on the stereo.
Absolutely loved Australia when I was there in 93/94', truly a crime what's been going on there the last few years. Hang in there brother, I can feel something coming in my bones and I don't think it's what "they"re wanting. Thanks for sharing and jumping aboard this ship of fools. As a friend once told me when I was leaving SF, "If I don't see you in the future, I'll see you in the pasture."

These bring back happy memories; we're off on a long road trip this weekend, one of the previous times we went there we had Jean Michel Jarre's Rendez-Vous blasting out on a cassette tape in the car, no. 4 is my favourite.

Also I've been transported to happy times; 1975 - great friends, great times, long hot summers and our futures ahead of us. The sound of Supertramp just sums up the zeitgeist.

For we are opposed around the world by a monolithic and ruthless conspiracy that relies primarily on covert means for expanding its sphere of influence -- on infiltration instead of invasion, on subversion instead of elections, on intimidation instead of free choice, on guerrillas by night instead of armies by day. It is a system which has conscripted vast human and material resources into the building of a tightly knit, highly efficient machine that combines military, diplomatic, intelligence, economic, scientific and political operations. Its preparations are concealed, not published. Its mistakes are buried, not headlined. Its dissenters are silenced, not praised. No expenditure is questioned, no rumor is printed, no secret is revealed. It conducts the Cold War, in short, with a war-time discipline no democracy would ever hope or wish to match.

One from ‘Down Under’. I used to listen to this on my “Sony Walkman” when sunbaking on the beach in 1985. I was a teenager, and at the time I felt like the world was full of wonder, adventure and potential. I wonder if kids feel the same these days…

Snuck in to see INXS at Irvine Meadows in '85 or '86, good show, I was a teenager too. Just heard Sinead O'Connor died. Can't believe she took the shot - twice. Always thought she was pretty, even without hair, figured anyone who can pull that off's got something goin' on. Very sad.

"Every night we light the candle
that stands beside our bed,
but sometimes the flame's too much to handle,
that's what you said...
Your green eyes they don't miss a thing,
they hold me like the sun going down,
warm me like a fire in the night, without a sound...
...the first time I ever saw your laughter break loose inside and tumble out to me,
my heart knew it had found what it was after, and it came so easily we should know.
After all the years of the hard and lonely times,
now our days go by like best friend's story lines,
yours and mine."

Life has definitely not been easy. The swings from good to bad can be pretty extreme these days. Pain and pleasure are swings in the arc of a pendulum, to the degree the pendulum swings into pleasure it will swing into the same degree of pain. I remember having one of the worst days of my life on the streets of LA and then one of the coolest yet saddest songs I'd ever heard came over the radio, you can imagine the effect it had on me. I won't post here out of respect. But anybody remember these guys?

Let's see how much you'll burn in a day
I'd bet my right arm and my right leg
You'll turn all that's sacred ashen grey
Turn off and parade
Gesture toward the entrance of the cave
Shift my lips and send me on my way
I'll keep on edging shadows pace
Promise me I'll end up catching shade
Turn off and parade

I've posted this already, but I found a version with all the dance moves.
Here it is. I just need another three volunteers and we can do a set. When you've learnt all the moves let me know
This is recorded gameplay from a game called Just Dance 2023 Edition, which I've never played, but it adds audio dings when the person playing achieves things which are part of the game not the song. It's just a phenomenal pop song imo. This game edition is very faithful to the original pop video (here (https://youtu.be/3VTkBuxU4yk)), except Kai'Sa doesn't have wings, Ahri doesn't even have one tail let alone nine, and Evelynn lost her evil glowing eyes and lizard death tail. Since they got the key dance moves I find it easy to gloss over.

I've been selling my soul
Working all day
Overtime hours
For bullsh*t, pay
So I can sit out here, and waste my life away
Drag back home, and drown my troubles away
It's a d*mn shame
What the worlds gotten to
For people like me, and people like you
Wish I could just wake up, and it not be true
But it is, oh, it is
Living in the new world
With an old soul
These rich men north of Richmond
Lord knows they all just want to have total control
Wanna know what you think
Wanna know what you do
And they don't think you know, but I know that you do
Cause your dollar ain't sh*t, and it's taxed to no end
Cause the rich men north of Richmond
I wish politicians would look out for miners, and not just minors on an island somewhere
Lord, we got folks in the street, ain't nothing to eat
And the obese milking welfare
Well God if you're 5 foot 3 and you're 300 pounds
Taxes ought not to pay for your bags of fudge rounds
Young men are putting themselves six feet in the ground
Cause all this damn country does is keep on kicking them down
Lord, it's a d*mn shame
What the worlds gotten to
For people like me, and people like you
Wish I could just wake up, and it not be true
But it is, oh, it is
Living in the new world
With an old soul
