Sensational Pianist Lucy Stuns Everyone at Leeds Train Station. This is the incredible moment Lucy, a 13-year-old who is blind and neurodivergent, played a highly complex Chopin piece 'Nocturne in B-flat Minor Op.9 No.1', leaving Mika and Lang Lang speechless.
Two of the world's most respected performers, Lang Lang and Mika, secretly watch on as passionate amateurs play the public pianos at train stations.

Congratulations to Lucy, Sean, Danny and Jay on a spellbinding performance last night on the finale of Channel 4’s The Piano.
We continue to be awestruck by Lucy’s ability, and the best part is that we hear her play every single day, which is an incredible honour. Her music is the soundtrack to everyday life at Ravenscliffe, and our entire community is so lucky to have her with us.
Quite rightfully, her teacher Daniel Bath has been recognised for the patience and devotion he has shown to Lucy and her family for over a decade. Daniel is a hugely talented musician in his own right, and also founded Music for the Many, a charity which provides instrumental tuition and other musical opportunities on an equitable and inclusive basis, free of charge, to children and young people. To learn more about their work, or if you would like to support them, please visit their website: music4themany.com (https://music4themany.com).
We would like to also thank The Amber Trust, who have supported Lucy for many years. They are an incredible charity who give partially sighted and blind children the best possible chance to meet their musical needs and aspirations. If you would like to learn more about what they do, or feel able to make a donation to support them in their incredible work, please visit their website theambertrust.org.uk (https://theambertrust.org.uk).
If, by any chance, you missed last night’s show (or just want to watch it again, and again, and again!) here is Lucy on stage at the Royal Festival Hall in London.
We are privileged to have played a small part in Lucy’s story so far, and we can’t wait to see where her journey takes her next.
Lucy is playing "Arabesque No. 1" by Claude Debussy.

Watch a very special performance, as the exceptional pianist who won Channel 4’s ‘The Piano’ plays deeply emotional Debussy to an audience of 6,000 in London’s iconic theatre.
Lucy, from West Yorkshire, is blind and neurodivergent. She is taught by Daniel Bath, who joined her on stage.
The performance took place as part of Classic FM Live with Viking. You can watch it soon on Sky Arts.

My only passion in life was (and is ...) MUSIC. My CURSE in this incarnation: I'm not a musician ...
Just today I came to realize that in reality I'm a PUNK! but not in the sense only we all have in mind from this picture: beer ,aggression, etc
But in the sense from transgression, break the "Matrix" molds ,piss on the plastic "reality" and music is a very good vehicle for that! plus the "reveling" text...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wCh1IPJnuII
My interest in music was about breaking molds , what s the next icebreaker ...no matter what style : progressive rock, industrial, punk, jazz, Drum & Bass ,whatever but authentic, like a punch in your face!
None "commercial", just tra la la...etc.
This "position" in life was always like the Sun for vampires...from my teens...I was the "weirdo" , but always respected for my DJ performances...(from the distance...)face to face rarely connections...

Finally got to see them in SF. A girlfriend and I went to the Fillmore and were going to watch the show without drinking. It started off terribly, so we decided to have a drink. Well, with each drink the music got better and better. After intermission, Shane was walking straight toward me and just as I thought he was going to puke on me, he turned, passed, and continued down the aisle. We still laugh about it. They put on a great show.

Wanted to say thanks for laying it out Vicus. Like you, music has always been THE THING. I tried my hand at writing for a while but then, you know, you wake up, literally. Probably a good thing, was emulating Charles Bukowski a little too much and things got dark. "That which doesn't kill you" right? But it was difficult to pursue writing after seeing through the matrix.
But music has always moved me deeply. I used to yell at my brother who always wanted to sing along with the songs, "I'm trying to hear the music!" We were like eight. My mother was a concert pianist so I guess it's in the blood. Like you, I always just wanted to hear something new, instinctively I knew music had so much more to offer. Definitely gravitated to the darker, harder, heavier sounds back then, but really just wanted to hear something new, something different, "breaking molds" like you said.
Love the Wire, they were excellent. Don't really have any music I want to post at the moment. But recalling the posts in the Nostalgia thread, it's funny how much I'm enjoying the lighter, cheezier stuff from the eighties lately...

Fun fact: The first Continuum was released 26 years ago, and its development started over 40 years ago! Also, its worth noting that Continuums are handmade, one at a time, and the machining process and components are extremely expensive. Haken (https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=%22Haken+Continuum%22) Audio is a very small company (basically 3 people), so for now, the price is set for them to simply break even.

The Haken Continuum Fingerboard is a combination of an extremely sensitive surface and and powerful and complex synthesizer, tailor made to take advance of its expressive sensors. The Continuum has been refined over the past few decades by Lippold Haken, and includes an on-board synthesizer called the EaganMatrix - created by musician and sound designer Edmund Eagan.
This review goes in depth into why the Continuum stands out as a unique instrument and the various ways it can be played. I also explain in detail how its internal synth is designed around using the surface gestures to impact sound design.
The EaganMatrix contains synthesis engines far beyond traditional subtractive and FM synths, and also includes various physical modeling and additive capabilities. Presets using those various engines are shown.

He makes the beats and invites random folks to do vocals. All of it is improvised from scratch on the spot, and is fascinating to watch. Lyrics:
I'll remember it
And Dublin in a rainstorm
And sitting in the long grass in summer
Keeping warm
I'll remember it
Every restless night
We were so young then
We thought that everything
We could possibly do were the right
Then we moved
Stolen from our very eyes
And I wondered where you went to
Tell me when did the light die
You will rise
You'll return
The phoenix from the flame
You will learn
You will rise
You'll return
Being what you are
There is no other Troy
For you to burn
And I never meant to hurt you
I swear I didn't mean
Those things I said
I never meant to do that to you
Next time I'll keep my hands to myself instead
Oh, does she love you
What do you want to do?
Does she need you like I do?
Do you love her?
Is she good for you?
Does she hold you like I do?
Do you want me?
Should I leave?
I know you're always telling me
That you love me
Just sometimes I wonder
If I should believe
Oh, I love you
God, I love you
I'd kill a dragon for you
I'll die
But I will rise
And I will return
The Phoenix from the flame
I have learned
I will rise
And you'll see me return
Being what I am
There is no other Troy
For me to burn
And you should've left the light on
You should've left the light on
Then I wouldn't have tried
And you'd never have known
And I wouldn't have pulled you tighter
No I wouldn't have pulled you close
I wouldn't have screamed
No I can't let you go
And the door wasn't closed
No I wouldn't have pulled you to me
No I wouldn't have kissed your face
You wouldn't have begged me to hold you
If we hadn't been there in the first place
Oh but I know you wanted me to be there oh oh
Every look that you threw told me so
But you should've left the light on
You should've left the light on
And the flames burned away
But you're still spitting fire
Make no difference what you say
You're still a liar
You're still a liar
You're still a liar

The Story of 'House of the Rising Sun' – From Folk to Fame:
Bf-C5tT6t8k
Dive into the untold history behind The House of the Rising Sun, the iconic song that defined a generation. In this video, we explore its roots, starting with its first recording by Georgia Turner in the 1930s, thanks to ethnomusicologist Alan Lomax. Discover how this haunting ballad evolved through folk legends like Leadbelly and Bob Dylan, before finding its ultimate expression with Eric Burdon and The Animals. From the song’s Civil War-era origins to its rise to #1 on the U.S. charts, you’ll uncover fascinating details about how The House of the Rising Sun transcended genres and became a cultural touchstone. With versions by legends like Nina Simone, Joan Baez, and Dolly Parton, there’s no shortage of incredible covers, but no one did it quite like The Animals.

Lyrics:
[Chorus]
There is a house in New Orleans
They call the Rising Sun
And it's been the ruin of many a poor boy
And God, I know I'm one
[Verse 1]
My mother was a tailor
She sewed my new blue jeans
My father was a gamblin' man
Down in New Orleans
[Verse2]
Now the only thing a gambler needs
Is a suitcase and a trunk
And the only time he'll be satisfied
Is when he's all drunk
[Organ Solo]
[Verse 3]
Oh, mother, tell your children
Not to do what I have done
Spend your lives in sin and misery
In the House of the Rising Sun
[Verse 4]
Well, I got one foot on the platform
The other foot on the train
I'm goin' back to New Orleans
To wear that ball and chain
[Chorus]
Well, there is a house in New Orleans
They call the Rising Sun
And it's been the ruin of many a poor boy
And God, I know I'm one

lol. Hey all, are yous familiar with song-poems?
The song poem racket was a vanity operation where any amateur with $$ could write a song and buy a semi-professional pressing of it played by some anonymous studio hacks. They'd glance at a poem, figure out an approach, then grind the number out in a single take--then on to the next one, in a chain of 30+ improvised songs per day. The musicians were fueled by boredom, fatigue, substance abuse, and creative madness, a wonderful recipe for creating warped gems from strangers' personal obsessions.
A dear friend introduced the gendre to me today, her quotes above and below. I quite fancy this audacious way of rocking!
my favorite song poem. "The Beat of the Traps" is from a poem written by a housewife named Dorothy something-or-other. Dottie's deathless lyrics were immortalized by tormented song-poem master Rodd Keith and a bunch of session men, who recorded it in one take late in the day when they were all seriously fuuuuuuuuucked uuuuuup. This sloppy-ass song is frickin' MAGIC!

Most will hate it , few will love it . Saw them live some years ago and listened to most of their music over the years . Its usually just 2 guys with guitars and a drum machine/laptop for a beat but some of the stuff they have made in last 3 decades... not the kind of music most likes but few will appreciate it.

As one comment puts it Xnoybis. A gesture of benediction or ritual praise to a god or gods. A word known to the Romans and Greeks, although I don't think it comes from either Latin or Greek. It is the name of a stunning piece of music for chamber ensemble written by Italian composer Giacinto Scelsi. It is literally the ONLY other time I have ever seen the word used. Given how literate and musically adventurous Justin Broadrick is, I would be astounded if this is not where he first heard of the word.

I watch this often. I think I even posted it on Avalon a while back. This performance, was and will always be an amazing event. Everyone could use listening to it the whole way through once or twice in their lives :) By way of an explanation - here is one of the Japanese commenters:
Hi, I’m a Japanese, & there is a few Japanese comment.
So I want to make sure for what this concert was held.
This concert was held after big earth quake and tsunami hit Japan & many people more than the people who joined this concert…
This is the requiem for the dead people, and also cheer from the people other areas where didn’t suffer severe damage.
So this concert was really special for us.
And I got the real meaning of the ward “soulful”.
Most of us really moved and got power from this concert.
I really respect who joined this concert & Beethoven.
My English is still bad, but hope some people understand the real meaning for this concert

Recollecting a specific era (from a Sydney perspective) of various nightclubs I once DJ’d at, here is one of my non-live mixes, recollecting a long-gone era of early house music in various Sydney venues throughout the 1990’s. Timings are approximate:
0:00.00 - 0:35:00:
Deep House (as per the 1990’s definition of it). Modern-day eclectic intro. Reminiscent of ‘The Albury’, circa 1993-94.
0:35:00 - 1:00:00:
Classic ‘Kinsella’s Middle Bar’ circa 1993-94
01:00.00 - 01:30.00:
Those classic tracks you heard at ‘Q-bar’ (Sydney) and / or ‘Kinsella’s’ (Sydney) in the mid-1990’s
01:30.00 - 02:00:00:
If you heard it at ‘Blackmarket’ (where “The Matrix” was filmed), there’s a good chance I was on the turntables on Thursday nights (“Hellfire”) [1993-95]
02:00:00 - 02:33:47:
Who remembers those early house days of the mid-1990’s at DCM on dance party recovery sets? Chances are, I was there [1994-1996]

The Oldest Song In The World:
w8tfBLvlN98
This song to the Hurrian goddess Nikkal (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nikkal), is the oldest piece of music for which we have both the words and the accompanying musical notes. The work was written on clay tablets around 3500 years ago, and was discovered by archaeologists in the 1950’s in the ruins of the ancient city of Ugarit.
The tablets, which are written in the Hurrian language using Sumerian cuneiform script, have been studied for years by a number of eminent scholars, and several theories have been advanced as to how the music should be interpreted. In my opinion, the most thorough and convincing interpretation (and by far the most musical), is that offered by archaeomusicologist, Dr. Richard J. Dumbrill, and that is the one which you hear in this video.
The long-necked lute you see me playing is a cross between the Turkish baglama and the Persian setar. I made this instrument myself as an experiment. It has four strings but the bass notes are a double course. It is tuned F-C-F. Lutes of this type have been played since the most ancient times throughout Mesopotamia and Anatolia.
The pipes you hear are replicas of the 5000 year old silver pipes discovered in the Sumerian city of Ur in the 1920’s. These are reed instruments but since I cannot play wind instruments and sing at the same time, I sampled the pipes and I am playing them by means of a pedal keyboard, similar to the kind of pedalboard used by organists. My left foot controls the lower register pipe, and my right foot the higher register. Players of these instruments used the technique known as “circular breathing”, which is still used today for wind instruments like the Armenian duduk, and the Australian didgeridoo. This song was performed live, in a single pass. Nothing was added or overdubbed.
The text of the song is not well understood because the Hurrian language has not been thoroughly studied and the original tablet has bits missing. The goddess Nikkal, like most lunar deities, was associated with fertility and childbirth. Here is a very rough idea of what experts believe is being sung by the singer. I have tried to make this poetic rather than literal.
I have made offerings to the goddess
That she will open her heart in love,
And that my sins will be forgiven.
May my jars of sweet sesame oil please her,
That she may look kindly upon us,
And make us fruitful.
Like the sprouting fields of grain,
May women bring forth with their husbands
And may those who are yet virgins
One day be blessed with children.

“ All the wars that were won and lost don’t seem to mean very much anymore”
yjOeWiPZeZw
All the stories have been told
Of kings and days of old
But there's no England now (there's no England now)
All the wars that were won and lost
Somehow don't seem to matter very much anymore
All the lies we were told (all the lies we were told)
All the lies of the people running round
Their castles have burned
Now I see change
But inside we're the same as we ever were
[Chorus]Living on a thin line
Tell me now, what are we supposed to do?
Living this way, each day is a dream
[Verse 2]Now another century nearly gone (gone)
What are we gonna leave for the young?
What we couldn't do, what we wouldn't do
It's a crime, but does it matter?
Does it matter much, does it matter much to you?
Does it ever really matter?
Yes, it really, really matters
[Bridge]Then another leader says
"Break their hearts and break some heads"
Is there nothing we can say or do?
Blame the future on the past
Always lost in bloody guts
And when they're gone, it's me and you

It's John Carpenter (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Carpenter)'s turn to receive the ZeroPi treatment with a violin cover of his Escape From New York Main Theme!
Like, comment, subscribe and share if you enjoyed it!
ZeroPi (Sarah Leo on violin and Marco Negro on keyboards, programming and mixing) is a duo playing instrumental 80s synth pop - new new wave original tracks, covers of some great eighties classics (Depeche Mode, Eurythmics, Ultravox, Yazoo, A-ha and more) and revisited traditional Irish tunes.
All the sequencing is done on hardware gear, just because it's more fun! 😉
Gear used:
Yamaha QY700, Novation Circuit, Roland Juno 2, Waldorf Streichfett, Waldorf Pulse 2, Vermona Mono Lancet, Arturia Minibrute.
Mixer/FX/other stuff: Allen & Heath Zed R-16, Korg SDD-3000 pedal, t.bone RM 700 ribbon microphone, JoeMeek sixQ, Sound Skulptor STS.

Breaking out is impossible ...
Breaking in is insane!
Love the movie! ... Saw it in the cinema when it came out! (I was 16 years old back them!)
Spielberg has Williams, Nolan has Zimmer, Burton has Elfman.
Carpenter has John Carpenter (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Carpenter).
John Carpenter is the film maker’s filmmaker. The guy who writes the script, directs the movie and then writes the musical score for it. And did most of his work back in the days before computers and CGI, making every bit of any of that process harder. We NEED more filmmakers like John Carpenter today now more than ever. An absolute legend.

I like to watch 'Snake Plisken', the tough guy. Its so corny and satisfying. But there's only escape from LA available.
I would love to watch Escape From New York again a few times.
Ya, I'll watch a movie I like ten times rather than suffer through some worthless tripe they serve up these days.
I cannot quite understand why this song keeps playing in my head whenever I think of my wife, which is often:
Ze9oY6zaGYQ
I go to sleep to this song, wake up to it, hear it all day long, for months now.
But I think it is my protection from other songs, our songs, that would probably send me into emotional havoc - they have tried to creep in from time to time and my heart has done a few back-flips in terror, while my mind instantly starts up this song.
One day I will forget this protection, and I will have to face the music...
OH, Oh, Oh, OOOOH!
It isn't fair to take away my only dream!
Some one help me, help me please!
This was not a puppy love!

Earlier this week I discovered a video he did a little over a year ago. I like the bluesy aspects.
I'm not so much into the whole vampire/horror type thing, but the musical genre fusion in the video was interesting to me, as well as the production, cinematography and editing... spot on. He's playing with what he can do creatively and it's fun to watch, not just this video, but the overall trend of his body of work.

If Johann Sebastian Bach is the greatest composer of all times –
if Bach’s work for keyboard is the greatest achievement among his various achievements –
if his 20-piece 90-minute Die Kunst der Fuge (The Art of the Fugue) is his greatest keyboard work –
then Die Kunst der Fuge (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MYlPSQNTbiI) is the music to take with me to the dormant volcano snowtop where I would prefer to depart
...
In the world of serious music more and more young geniuses arise who understand that perfection is only possible if one abandons oneself wholly to the spirit of genius of the greatest among the greatest..
The Italian Filippo Gorini (https://www.filippogorini.it) is only from 1995 – but he plays Bach every second at a level almost beyond my comprehension..

Yes, I was in a student concert (around 1988?) where they performed.
A shameful memory from that concert:
I was not a great fan of their music, and so dared to boast to a girl,
that sooner or later I could do much better music.
Life went to another direction, but my shame lingers.

Here’s a mix for the Gen-X clubbing fraternity:
Here's a video that captures that time perfectly, this one from the northern UK. Shot in 2011, but looks like camcorder footage from the early 90s. The clothes, cars, decor, vibe, every detail is perfect. A unique era in dance/rave culture, no phones, no violence, just good times.

For the nth (?) time – recommended to the strong hearted among the lovers of real music:
to Pierre Boulez (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pierre_Boulez)’ last version of his Dérive 2 for eleven instruments, performed by the Ensemble Intercontemporain, conducted by Boulez himself, a few weeks before his passing.
The absolute perfection of "his" musicians, the sobriety of his conducting, all hints understood... And the late masterwork – I compare it to Beethoven’s Diabelli Variations...

I watched this the other day and it keeps coming back to my mind. Music, to be "real" must be a living, breathing entity that grows with humanity. This young man, Josiah, challenged himself with a fusion of his two great loves; jazz and classical, in this case, Chopin. And the two men commenting are hearing through their own hearts, as well. It's like light glistening off the mountain.

Take On Me should NOT have been a hit...
Ccv3VFdHC-8
Take On Me by A-ha is a synth-pop masterpiece. A smash hit all around the world, it made Morten Harket, Magne Furuholmen and Paul Waaktaar-Savoy's band a household name. Made famous by it's iconic music video, which had ample airplay on MTV at the time, you might assume this song was always destined for greatness. However, you'd be wrong. The path this song took to success was incredibly chaotic. It actually flopped three times before finding success. The band even considered giving up altogether.
This video explores the full history behind Take On Me by A-ha. We'll explore its origins, the difficulties the band faced in making it and how the song eventually became a global hit.

Thought about this song while attending a memorial this weekend and found myself relating stories from my past concert travels and experiences, just listened to it now, and then remembered this thread to post about it in.
I have had this less famous Pink Floyd album, Obscured By Clouds, since mid-70's, and always appreciated it.

One, two, free four
The memories of a man in his old age
Are the deeds of a man in his prime
You shuffle at the gloom of the sickroom
And talk to yourself as you die
Life is a short, warm moment
And death is a long cold rest
You get your chance to try in the twinkling of an eye
Eighty years, with luck, or even less
So all aboard for the American tour
And maybe you'll make it to the top
And mind how you go, and I can tell you, 'cause I know
You may find it hard to get off
You are the angel of death
And I am the dead man's son
And he was buried like a mole in a fox hole
And everyone is still on the run
And who is the master of fox hounds?
And who says the hunt has begun?
And who calls the tune in the courtroom?
And who beats the funeral drum?
The memories of a man in his old age
Are the deeds of a man in his prime
You shuffle at the gloom of the sickroom
And talk to yourself as you die
Songwriters: George Roger Waters
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Obscured_by_Clouds
Obscured by Clouds is the seventh studio album by the English progressive rock band Pink Floyd, released on 2 June 1972 by Harvest and Capitol Records. It serves as the soundtrack for the French film La Vallée, by Barbet Schroeder. It was recorded in two sessions in France, while Pink Floyd were in the midst of touring, and produced by the band.
Obscured by Clouds is among Pink Floyd's shorter albums and makes heavy use of the acoustic guitar. Lyrically, the songs centre around love, a theme the album has in common with the film. The album's only single was "Free Four". Obscured by Clouds has been seen as a stopgap for the band, who had started work on their next album, The Dark Side of the Moon (1973). The album reached number six in the United Kingdom and number 46 in the United States; retrospective opinions from both fans and critics have been mixed, some critics noting the similarities to their later material.

Ahh Phil Collins. I like to listen to old songs remixed or mashups sometimes. And just roll through them finding other cool ones. this one is amazing with some decent ear buds. I'll be on the sky train listening wishing i could just make everyone else listen to it too lol. thinking about unity and how if everyone understood that every moment should be a party, maybe we could kick off the awakening and all dance to the drum of the new coming frequency.

Here's some early 90's hip hop.. just a little obscure: only peaked at 86 on the billboard Google tells me. But this is good sh!t. It's my era, and I dig it. Got that gritty NYC sound. It's called Who Got Da Props, by a group called Black Moon:

😄 only if he can sing, unlike this dude.
Ha, back in the day, a guy in army uniform hit on me at the pub while I was at the bar getting a drink.
"Thirsty?" I asked. "Busy day?"
Struggling to respond, I helped him fill in the gaps.
"No time to change?"
"Um, I suppose..."
I pressed on.
"Army Reserves?"
"Um, yeah... how'd you know?"
"C'mon mate, seriously? No self respecting soldier gonna come in here hiding behind his uniform, using it as bait. Now toddle off home this minute and change. You'll have better luck with the ladies. Trust me."
Poor guy must've been listening to this silly song. I felt bad for him. Especially when he started weeping and thanking me for my honesty - true story. Good God kid, pull yourself together. S.N.A.G enthusiasm ain't a good look either.

Love that response. First line made me laugh. And I’d have to agree, but he’s quite the dancer eh? :chuckle: Enjoyed the story. It’s so true, in youth men really have no idea how to approach a woman. Think that’s why I started drinking, think that’s why everyone in my high school did too. Needed to ease those inhibitions with some liquid courage. Spent a fun year in Perth in the early 90’s. Really enjoyed the people and the culture, back before all today’s nonsense. Felt like I truly slipped into the “no worries, mate” lifestyle and state of mind. Those Sunday sessions by the beach were legendary. What a great concept to cap the weekend - start early, end early, still make it to work Monday. At least it worked for everyone in their teens and twenties, can’t imagine making it to work today no matter how early we started.:faint: It was like a gathering of the tribe. Drinks, music, dancing, that magnificent salty air off the ocean. Truly magic.
“Now toddle off home this minute and change.” When it comes to uniforms, I think that’s sound advice. The late, great, George Carlin said it best:
“If it requires a uniform, it’s a worthless endeavor.”
and
“Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.”
Serious question: Is Lady Gaga really this old?

I found this mix in my ‘archive’ folder this evening. Apparently I deleted it from public view in 2013 (I’m not sure why). It’s an eclectic mix from the 1990’s club / cocktail bar scene. A misspent youth for sure, but hey, I’ve come so very far since then!
This track is my own (as are all of the DJ mixes I post). For the record, I was a professional club DJ in the Sydney club circuit from 1992-1997.

I love that thought. I remember attending concerts when everyone was truly feeling it, when a song hit that transcendent climax after a breathtaking buildup, there's real magic there, you really feel connected to everyone who's there experiencing it with you.
Absolutely Ras, there are songs/music out there that can bring a tear to my eye and being surrounded by thousands of others, all experiencing the same emotion is a powerful thing, music connects people together, even if you dont speak their language we can hookup in our experience of music, like we are one.
What i dont understand is people, mainly youngons, that attend a concert and stand there all night with their phones out held high videoing the concert, they spend half the night looking at their ph screens making sure the stage is in shot, why would you record a concert......? i bet they dont even watch their own video of the concert when they get home, and they miss out (IMO) on the human connection and joy, because they are not in tune with others around them, they are more worried about recording the event instead of feeling it.

Almost like the language of love, "even if you don't speak their language..." There's a connection there that transcends language. And then it gets even crazier when you think about the symbols on ancient temples that are visual representations of tones or sounds, like keys to the universe.

I'm with ya all the way there RRR. I do not understand the youth today. They don't seem to possess the power of living in the moment and letting themselves go. For me that was the whole reason for going to a concert, to enjoy not only the music but the camaraderie of the crowd, the experience of meeting new people and living in the moment. Is that a thing of the past, a bygone era?

We (a small group) had a long adventure in Tallinn yesterday, but everyday people
in bus stops and everywhere were unbelievably helpful!

Wow nice, hope you had lovely time although weather kind of sucked . Typical Estonian summer ,rains more often than not. Some of my relatives went there , i havent asked how it was for them.
At 3h.44m they performed a piece made by a woman i know ( she was my classmate ) but it was only instrumental without singing but still must have been incredible experience for her to see so many people play her music .

Oh my, thanks Jaak!
That you have friends great enough to be part of 'Laulupidu' tells much of you!
Now I can understand the scale of this!
Yes, weather was wet-wet-wet during the 5 km (3 miles) march. But people in the right and left were in great spirits and said hurraah to us (unknown foreigners) all the time. We responded with a manly 'Hey', and universal happiness was in the air.
But on Sunday, during main concert, Sun gave her sweet smile, and everything was -- fine.
In 06h:16m Tuljak. Ultra-joy. Even natives fought and laughed with the speed.

While ‘Karmageddon’ has sparked significant conversation and controversy, Iyah has stood her ground. She refused to compromise her vision when asked to change a key lyric line, leading to the end of her contract with her manager. She chose to walk away from her record label and now, fully independent, Iyah continues to carve her own path as an artist.
Her fearless approach is shaped by her unique perspective as a qualified medical doctor, having worked on the frontlines during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Lyrics:
I open up my phone on a Monday morning
Staring at my screen
I'm tired and a little lonely
Mr Musk he said some **** the lefts are angry
Twitter wars and Gaza man it's overwhelming
Maybe that's how life becomes when
People less important than a profit line
No one cares about your dreams just pay
Your tax on time
Keep scrolling
Hold me near to you now
Gender, guns, religion and abortion rights
You better pick a tribe and hate the other side
Keep scrolling
But did you see Taylor live?
Man made virus watch the millions die
Biggest profit of their lives
Here's inflation that's your prize
This is Karmageddon
Turn on the news and eat their lies
Kim or Kanye pick a side
Cancel culture what a vibe
This is Karmageddon
Corporations swear they never lie
Politicians bribed for life
More than war it's genocide
This is Karmageddon
Welcome to the chaos of the times
If you go left and I go right
Pray we make it out alive
This is Karmageddon
It's fashion week celebs lose ribs
Balenciaga how's the kids
Just ask Drake he's losing beef
Kendrick killed him in his sleep
Diss tracks about beating up your queen
While women dying doesn't cause a scene
While we're fed all these distractions
Kids are killed from Israel's actions
I'mma speak my mind
Sick to death of all these crazy lies
A circus for humanity's decline
We just want a peaceful life give the people back their rights
And I've still got a beef
Cause Fauci's laughing and we've been asleep
And WHO's a liar and it's running deep
Big pharma finna eat they a devil make them weak
Man made virus watch the millions die
Biggest profit of their lives

Speaking of positive messages, this one was so unique it's worth another post for any who may have missed it. From the description:
"The music video was filmed in Siberia, Krasnoyarsk Territory, on the Chulym River. 30 km from the village of Pasechnoye (the capital of the Chulyms). This is the birthplace of the members of the OTYKEN group. Chulyms are the smallest indigenous peoples of Siberia. According to one version, the Chulyms are the ancestors of the Japanese Ainu and the indigenous peoples of North America. According to another version, the Chulyms are an ancient Turkic tribe.
The song OTYKEN - STORM talks about the difficulties that people face while traveling to the East. The music of the OTYKEN group is dedicated to giving kindness and warm light to all people on the Earth! The magical power of our music will heal your soul and your body as well, and it can even send you into trance.
Thanks to all the caring people who sent us donations for the filming of the music video OTYKEN – STORM. We tried very hard and gave it our all!"

Those are some great lyrics. Got to experience and witness some of that prosperous nation while it was still at its pinnacle. Went to the Big Day Out in Perth in '94 and it will go down as one of my all time favorites, just a special day in a beautiful outdoor setting with a fun crew. Super sad what's been happening over there. It really is such a special place. I was amazed to find out that Australia is roughly the same size as America yet there are as many people in Australia, at least at that time, as there are in the greater Los Angeles county. So take the city of LA and spread them across an empty America and you can start to get the idea of "no worries mate." I remember getting a flat in my Holden, what a great car, and the first person to drive by stopped and asked if I needed help. Really was the best place on Earth back then, all the people were so fun and easy going. Great memories.
While viewing the current state of our circus sh!tshow I somehow always hear this one (apologies for the repost):

2 songs from some people i know . Lived together with 2 guys from the first band for 3 years , never listened to most of their old songs until yesterday lol . This song was in the ending titles of the movie ¨Little Nicky¨ with Adam Sandler and i guess they are still getting some royalty checks from it . I could be wrong but i think they got around 300 euros a month because their song ended up in the movie titles because of some contest .

Lived together with one of them for half a year or so , friends sister was together with drummer. Singer was a punk midget who during soviet union times while in prison he built an electric guitar in workshop out of an radio . Last i heard of him he was living in the streets of Berlin , a ¨street punk¨. Amazing how some people dont give a crap about anything and choose to be hobos and survive like that for decades ...

Vince: "That's the Human League!"
Howard: "That is electro nonsense."
Vince: "They're electro pioneers, they invented music."
Howard: "Invented music?"
Vince: "Yeah."
Howard: "What happened before them then?"
Vince: "It was just tuning up before then."

This is awesome. Got me remembering a Gregorian Chant album I listen to a lot; Downside Abbey's Gregorian Moods. Crux Fidelis (https://youtu.be/ihn441bqhIk?feature=shared), their Magnificat (https://youtu.be/qjyBiJuncVQ?feature=shared) which is my fav. version of Magnificat, and Thou Knowest Lord The Secret Of Our Hearts (https://youtu.be/FPBL_G7WIjk?feature=shared). Here's the Whole album (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r5Pl0M8xowQ&list=OLAK5uy_mf4LN9k9UqzbvuGU8QPJeM5kliZ1zh8Ac&index=1)

Ha! Thanks Matthew, got a good laugh. It's amazing how much more I appreciate the 80's synth-pop-rock than back then when it was first coming out. The 80's/MTV days stand large in my childhood memories. It was the larger-than-life/in-your-face brand of commercialism, dare I say, propaganda, that we just ate up as kids. Made us all want to be rockstars right? Yet I was happy when I finally scratched the underbelly of the 80's rock scene of LA. I saw these guys so many times I lost track, everything from large outdoor amphitheaters, to the Whiskey, to dive bars on the beach. Even got to talk to Exene Cervanka one night in a small venue while I sitting on stage. Think Billy Zoom may have been a serial killer, that smile!, but a true savant on guitar. Still have a vinyl copy of their first album, Los Angeles. Can you see the fiery effigy?

Movie is very interesting.
I like this song, watched the credits so I could listen to it, voice sounded exactly like one of the leads, and it was.

This is a relatively ancient mix of mine (posted last decade, recorded 20 years before that) which has received a lot of new attention lately. I think it’s because it’s ‘old-Skool’ House music from 1993. From an era when DJ’s still had a sense of selflessness within them…

This one's for the Aussies. A testament to better days or was it ever really that sane in Australia to begin with? This was the number one song on JJJ (Triple J) radio station when I was there in '94. It was that laser focus on the important things in life that I really appreciated about the people down under...

Sweet Dreams is a brilliant example of how a deceptively simple drum beat (if done right) can make a song hit even harder. We're going to recreate it on a modern sequencer so you can follow along and use those techniques in your own beats. Milk bottles and cows on fake grass included. As a bonus The Intern will pick apart the iconic synth riff :)

I don't know who this is.
I found this song in a longer mix and chopped it out. If anyone knows who it is and what it's called, post it here.
