My favorite song of this TV Play

PhgzPiA4WOc

Bai Suzhen at the foot of Mount Qingcheng
Thousands of years of cultivation in the cave
ah ah
Hard work and hard work
reborn into a human
ah ah
Focus on the road without distractions

Taking refuge in the Three Jewels and abandoning the world
ah ah
I hope to be enlightened by the Bodhisattva
Take me out of the mortal world
hey hey hey
hey hey hey
Take me out of the mortal world
hey hey hey
hey hey hey
Take me out of the mortal world

~~~~~~~~·~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The reason that I like:
It is like a fairy tale. I like Bai Suzhen so much. She is very kind and elegant. From this TV play, I learned the Karma and the way of self refining and cultivation.
”After a hundred years of cultivation, we can cross the boat together, and after a thousand years of cultivation, we can sleep together“
After one thousand years, the snake wants to repay the debt to her savior Xu Xian, and then become a human being to marry him and bear a son.
Love is amazing. It can transcend time and space.
Karma is soo cool. It decides our past and future.
From this TV play, it helps me to better understand Buddism.:heart::heart::heart:
"The story of G.I. Gurdjieff and his travels to achieve enlightenment and inner growth. Beginning with his childhood, the movie follows his journeys through Central Asia as he discovers new levels of spirituality through music, dance and near-encounters with death." ~Meetings with Remarkable Men
"Milarepa depicts the humble beginnings of the man who was to become Tibet's greatest saint. A true story based on centuries-old oral traditions, a youthful Milarepa is propelled into a world of sorrow and betrayal after his father's sudden death. Destitute and hopeless, he sets out to learn black magic - and exact revenge on his enemies - encountering magicians, demons, an enigmatic teacher and unexpected mystical power along the way. But it is in confrontation with the consequences of his anger that he learns the most. Photographed in the stunning Lahaul-Spiti region of Northern India, Milarepa offers a provocative parallel to the cycle of violence and retribution consuming today's world."~Milarepa
I once heard about the film before but never watched.
"In early-13th-century Assisi in Italian Umbria, the son of a rich merchant, Francesco Bernardone, returns ill from war. In his delirium, he goes back in his memories to the days when he lived for parties and carnal pleasures. Yet, the shadow of the cross that he sees in fever brings an end to his old life. The armor which he calls "my death mask" appears to be his final clothing of the old human. He slowly recovers, but after the illness he is no longer the Francesco that everybody knew. Instead of spending hours in taverns, he spends them in meadows; instead of drinking, he meditates on the beauty of God's creatures. He encounters a ruined little church where, from the old cross, Christ changes his life forever. Francesco renounces riches and his family and starts to rebuild the church as "il Poverello--the poorest of the poor." Soon, he gathers many people who are willingly built into a powerful new Spiritual Temple. Will the kingly Pope accept a new order of beggars and the poorest of the poor? Will the shining gold accept the inner treasure?"~Fratello sole, sorella luna
I recently saw Point Break for the first time, a 90's movie I think, with Keanu Reeves & Patrick Swayze. Well made movie, character struggles, spiritual awakenings a worthwhile film IMO
The new Batman movie surprised me big time. Gotta say it was nearly 3 hours and I was not bored once. It keeps you intrigued and in suspense. The main bad guy makes sense too. The scene that leads up to the Batmobile scene is epic, along with the chase scene itself. I would even say masterful how they tied those 2 scenes together.
It’s a great epic story for children and adults alike with complicated spiritual and sociological message ,
it nearly extracts a blueprint of countless legends of our ancestors, coiling around the lifeline of the human civilisation, older than the Time and its creatures.
It’s a living legend happening in other dimension of time and space we are also inhabiting and it can be found in a book.
It’s beautiful and deep think sort of movie in either case
I spent some time living in China and Legend of the White Snake was one of 2 shows that I'd watch.
This was the other one being Jouney to the West 西游记
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K3KNpyKILHM&list=PLIj4BzSwQ-_sfc7l2xm1wQswAd5jqrrDS&ab_channel=CCTV%E7%94%B5%E8%A7%86%E5%89%A7
I think though, most people's introduction to this Buddhism pilgrimage story was the Japanese version that aired probably around the same decade. 'Monkey Magic' (https://youtu.be/J-SUoHmpRdM).
One of the aesthetic aspects I liked was the depiction of characters that were struggling with past experiences and trauma as demonic looking. Equally enjoyable was the effect of the redemption arc which saw characters return to a more stable calmer human form, often by way of powerful virtuous understandings based in love, forgiveness and compassion.
From Wesertn cinema the film 'Cloud Atlas' deserves mention for being daring to connect timelines with recurring themes and interconnected relationships of the characters... across those timelines! At least I don't know of any other film that tried this or just can't think of it off the top of my head.
Oh yes, Jouney to the West is famous in China. And the writer Wu Cheng'en(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wu_Cheng%27en) lived in my hometown - Huai'an. My hometown is famous for Premier Zhou and Wu Cheng'en.
A classic religious/spiritual film from 1943 'The Song of Bernadette' tells us the true story of a poor French girl who apparently witnessed a meeting with a spiritual female being, later thought to be the Virgin Mary and led to Lourdes famous healing spring emerging from the rock grotto she experienced these meetings in.
I first saw this movie in my childhood, it made a strong impression on me - I cannot vouch for the veracity, or effectiveness of Lourdes water, but it seems 10's of thousands of people have been cured of their afflictions when visiting this grotto where the spring still flows to this day.
I occasionally post this here in hopes that it will help someone out the way it helped me out. When I was in my early to late 20s I was in a very dark place for a variety of reasons ranging from medical problems to substance abuse. I often thought about why my life was so awful even though I lived in the land of milk and honey. After a long time of thinking this through I came to believe my suffering was a result of my perception, something that I can control if I worked hard enough. However, my culture is not conducive to mental well being when you're in a position like I was. There was no users manual on how to adjust ones perception.
This documentary was a catalyst, it pointed me to the right path and helped me change my life forever. I still have hard times, but never like before. I hope it helps someone else out like it did me. Here's a brief preview/trailer:
"Dondup wants a better and different life. He is forced to hitchhike through the beautiful wild countryside of Bhutan to reach his goal. He shares the road with a monk, an apple seller, a papermaker and his beautiful young daughter. Throughout the journey, the mischievous monk relates the story of Tashi. It is a fable of lust, jealousy and murder, that holds up a mirror to the restless Dondup. The conclusion of the monk's tale leaves Dondup with a dilemma--is the grass truly greener on the other side?"
40 years ago I sat down and watched Koyaanisqatsi - Life out of balance. 'A collection of expertly photographed phenomena with no conventional plot. The footage focuses on nature, humanity and the relationship between them'. - so the IMDb blurb goes.
Produced and directed by Godfrey Reggio, with music by Philip Glass, it introduced many to the screwed-up world we were living in. At one hour 27mins long, it was a relentless montage of images - starting sedately enough with nature and moving with slowly increasing speed through the technological 'advances' (and hell) of mankind. See it through to the end and you will be reeling.
Sorry, I only know how to post the link...I'll have to put my thinking hat on sometime..
Powder Official 1995 Movie Trailer. Powder is a 1995 American fantasy drama film written and directed by Victor Salva and starring Sean Patrick Flanery in the titular role, with Jeff Goldblum, Mary Steenburgen, Bradford Tatum and Lance Henriksen in supporting roles. It is about Jeremy "Powder" Reed, who has an incredible intellect, as well as telepathy and paranormal powers. The film questions the limits of the human mind and body while also displaying society's capacity for cruelty, and raises hope that humanity will advance to a state of better understanding. Its filming locations were around suburbs of Houston, San Antonio and Austin, Texas.
I'm not sure why, but I've always been secretly in love with this film. Perhaps because I love films about misunderstood outsiders who are too pure for our dark world. Jeremy is certainly one of those outsiders. His intelligence, appearance, and supernatural powers ostracize him the second he sets foot off his grandparents' farm.
But one thing I've never really understood about Jeremy is who he is supposed to be. With Edward Scissorhands, there was some backstory explaining how he came to be: he was invented by a genius who died before he could finish him.
With Powder, however, there is no such explanation. The film doesn't take the initiative to hold your hand. Instead, it leaves the mystery of Powder's being up to your imagination". unquote
Powder Movie Review
KvcVOcwyj1c
My movie review for a film about a unique boy who possesses several special abilities, and is very intelligent. Society has a hard time accepting him due to his pale appearance, and his unique abilities, that seem to frighten the people around him. But like anything in life, the boy who has a unique nickname of "Powder", learns that there is always something out in the world for everybody, even if it is a long and difficult journey to find it. This film stars Mary Steenburgen, Lance Henriksen, and Jeff Goldblum.
There is a little of everything in the movie. Even the comedy hints:
Gavin:
As soon as I got back, I just feel like... I feel like there's someone else there. And then last night, I thought I heard something, like a woman singing.
Melissa:
What like a ghost? A singing ghost?
Gavin:
I guess. And then I saw something; I actually ran into someone. I saw...
Melissa:
Was it the singing ghost?
Gavin:
It was a man.
Melissa:
Oh.
Gavin:
I think it was me.
Melissa:
Your house is haunted by yourself? :bigsmile:
Hi Xidaijena,
You asked me, Ravenlocke , if I’m Chinese but I’m not.
Still I enjoy watching the Chinese tv series like Eternal Love ten miles of peach blossoms and Ashes Of Love when they come to Netflix because I can watch with English subtitles.
I love the storyline, the beautiful scenery, the music and the beautiful costumes and enjoy the actors too. I like fantasy stories especially those that have heaven realm, floral realm, ghost or demon realm, etc
I have also come to like the Korean tv series they are well done too. One of my favorite is called “It’s okay to not be okay”
The story involves two brothers, the younger has to take care of his older brother who is autistic and the younger brother works at a psychiatric hospital. The brothers later meet this young woman who writes children storybooks, and she is pretty but she is also “broken”. Long story there are lots of characters and little side stories all moving, and the main story. Very nice and moving.
“Invisible City (Portuguese: Cidade Invisível) is a Brazilian fantasy streaming television series created by Carlos Saldanha. It is based on a story co-developed by the screenwriters and best-selling authors Raphael Draccon and Carolina Munhóz.[2] It stars Marco Pigossi as Eric, an environmental police officer who uncovers a hidden world of mythological entities from Brazilian folklore, as he searches for a connection between his wife's death and the mysterious appearance of a dead pink river dolphin on a beach in Rio de Janeiro.[3]“
It’s a fantasy story, a murder mystery and some of the towns people are not what they seem. They shape shift into human form but they’re true forms are from mythical creatures.
During World War I, Scottish soldier Private Plumpick (Alan Bates) is sent on a mission to a village in the French countryside to disarm a bomb set by the retreating German army. Plumpick encounters a strange town occupied by the former residents of the local psychiatric hospital who escaped after the villagers deserted. Assuming roles like Bishop, Duke, barber, and circus ringmaster, they warmly accept the visitor as their King of Hearts. With his reconnaissance and bomb-defusing mission looming, Plumpick starts to prefer the acceptance of the insane locals over the insanity of the war raging outside. Since its debut, King of Hearts has become a worldwide cult favorite and stands out as one of de Broca’s most memorable films. Fifty years after its original release, this satirical look at the absurdities of war is presented in a gorgeous new 4K restoration for modern audiences to discover.
Hi Goba, thanks for sharing some nice films about the War and this film attracts me a lot. I will try to watch it all. I will share my thoughts about it when I finish watching it.
You are from Germany? One of my customers is German. Your country is famous for me and my boss. My boss had been working in Germany for some months and he likes German customers best. Nice to see you here.:coffee:
The twenty-sixth film: The Story of Xing Fu
https://www.viki.com/tv/38275c-the-story-of-xing-fu
He Xingfu (played by Zhao Liying) married in Wanjiazhuang. At the wedding, his sister was humiliated by "marriage trouble". In desperation, Xingfu injured Wan Chuanjia, the son of Wanshantang, the village party secretary. One wave after another, a health care product factory was built in the village, and the farmland of the happy husband's family had to be requisitioned. Xingfu gave birth to a child with hemorrhage. Wanshantang organized villagers to donate blood, which saved Xingfu's life. Xingfu is very grateful. Unexpectedly, the report letter she sent before attracted the discipline inspectors. Wan Shantang became angry and fell ill, causing the anger of the villagers. The happy couple couldn't bear the pressure and went to work in the city. In urban life, where happiness and husbands are constantly at odds, marriage is a red light. Xingfu returned to his hometown to set up a homestay, which brought fire to the tourism industry of Wanjiazhuang. Unexpectedly, after the pollution incident of the health care product factory, Xingfu put on the shirt again, led the villagers to fight against the interest group bravely, and won everyone's respect and support.
The twenty-seventh film: Tie Lihua
https://zh.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E9%90%B5%E6%A2%A8%E8%8A%B1
The play tells the story of an ordinary folk woman who finally became a patriot after going through ups and downs, starring Chen Shu, Wei Zi, Sun Qiang and others. Among them, Liu Tianci, played by Sun Qiang, and Fenger, played by Chen Shu, were childhood sweethearts. Unexpectedly, Fenger was snatched by the warlord Zhao Yuangeng (played by Wei Zi) to be the fifth concubine. The times, either close at hand, or separated from each other in the world, although they can't get married, they can't forget the bitter love of the century. A daughter born in a family of tomb robbers at the border of Shanxi and Shaanxi, in the turbulent years that spanned the war between the warlords and the Anti-Japanese War, she shared a legendary time with her relatives, lovers, friends and even enemies around her. The love-hate entanglement in the world, and her mental journey from a daughter of an ordinary family, to a concubine of a warlord, to an ethnographer who is determined to resist Japan.
Thanks for posting this, Jena. I watched it last evening. It’s rated 7.6 (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt3721954/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_0). There were many awards (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maudie_(film)) for the actors, director and movie.
One of the summaries (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt3721954/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_0) provided:
Beautiful location, beautiful artist.
"The whole of life, already framed, right there." Maud Lewis (Sally Hawkins)
Maud Lewis was a pioneer of the Art Naïve school of folk painting flourishing all over, especially in Canada, and specifically here in Nova Scotia. The quote shows how natural her genius was looking out a window from her 10x12 foot home.
The biopic Maudie thrives on Hawkins' superior acting talent that superficially shows her deformed leg, her debilitation from arthritis, and her emphysema doomsday from smoking. Yet she radiates joy and a keen eye for the simple beauty of life. As she tells her husband, Everette (Ethan Hawke), she doesn't need much.
With no formal artistic training, Maud initially uses a finger to paint a tulip with vibrant colors. She barely looks back as she paints chickens, dogs, birds, and "things," all observed inside and outside the humble cottage on doors, windows, boards, and whatever.
The pain most artists experience in order to express beauty comes for Maud not just from her physical handicaps but from her husband, a rude fishmonger and wood chopper without a lick of humor. He begrudgingly allows her to sell her paintings and pockets the proceeds. However, he loves her in his own crude way and provides the home, albeit no more than two rooms, that spawns the art.
Cinematographer Guy Godfree captures the sweep of open nature that surrounds the town and the intimately colorful interior transformed by her art. John Hand's production design makes her cottage so meticulously authentic that you might wonder if he borrowed it from the Nova Scotia museum that now houses it.
Beyond the pleasant bio of a charming painter, the love between the two is one of the best romances of the year. It could be because theirs is hardly conventional or because Hawkins and Hawke are super actors. Or both. Love abides, and as Everett says, "There's me. Them dogs, them chickens, then you."
Original title: Der Himmel über Berlin
Die Engel Damiel und Cassiel treten als Beobachter der Welt auf, insbesondere in Berlin. Sie können nicht in das Leben der Menschen eingreifen und sich ihnen nicht zu erkennen geben. Sie können ihnen jedoch neuen Lebensmut einflößen. Das Leben der Engel ist rein geistig, sinnliche Empfindungen sind ihnen unzugänglich. Der Wunsch, am Leben der Sterblichen und deren Empfindungswelt teilzuhaben, wird bei Damiel so groß, dass er dafür bereit ist, auf seine Unsterblichkeit zu verzichten. Mit seinem Harnisch als Startkapital wird er in die Welt hineingeworfen. In einer Trapezkünstlerin, die sich scheinbar von der Erdschwere löst, findet er seinen Gegenpart.
When the masses are fooled by wrong ideas, there will always be one or a few ideological peculiarities to point out a new path. There must be light in the dark. Marriage or Career? I think: Your own feelings are the answer.
It is my choice to have a career that keeps me positive, with ideals, beliefs, confidence, and motivation, rather than a "marriage" that makes me teary-washed and filled with negative thoughts every day. As Jesus Christ said, "The gate of the kingdom of heaven is a narrow gate; but to whom it is given, it shall be received."
Choose, then experience and feel.
I choose Lifechanyuan and the lifestyle of New Oasis for Life.:inlove:
The Mrs. degree is a prized thing. I have been pursued and wooed and won and discarded over that. I think if a girl didn’t think that way, there must be something wrong with her.
I love the film 'The Whale Rider'.
It's basically about... the answer is right before your eyes, but you're too blind to see the truth!
Brilliant film.
小小女子半边天
男儿情怀莫笑我
豪情原同属你与我
拥有并没不可
小女子天空都广阔
如汉子一个
红尘浮沉问对错
凭谁来维护
更叫我非要自立不可
小女子的心眼内藏
谁会猜得破
浓浓柔情是你我
前途如何伴你过
只盼并没疆锁
小女子交出这份情
求你珍惜我
不必嗟怨风波急转叹奈何
我永远会勉励你更加多
不必声称我只懂口讲那样傻
你会看见是我如何突破
女子天生机警不过
好比水中的火
暗暗会给你援助
也可肩担起天一半
对错分清楚
永远知道这世间
爱什么
Google translate:
Don't laugh at me, boy
Pride originally belonged to you and me
It is not impossible to have
little girl's sky is wide
like a man
Red dust floating and sinking ask right or wrong
who will maintain
Makes me have to be self-reliant
little woman's heart
who can guess
Thick tenderness is you and me
How to live with you in the future
I just hope there is no border lock
The little girl handed over this love
please cherish me
No need to complain about the storm
I will always encourage you more
Don't have to claim that I'm just as stupid as speaking
You'll see how I break through
Women are naturally alert
like fire in water
I will help you secretly
You can also carry half the sky on your shoulders
Clear distinction between right and wrong
always know what this world loves
