Gilbert and I were friends for a period if time. in fact , we still are, we just havent crossed paths in years.
Gilbert was one of the funniest people I ever knew. Funny loud obnoxious and yet very shy

Gilbert and I are the same age. We grew up on Chiller theatre and sci fi.
He and I loved talking about the trash horror films, especially the movie, "The great two headed transplant" with Rosie Greer and Ray Milland. What a dog, and we loved it

American comedian Gilbert Gottfried has died aged 67. His family, who praise him as the 'most iconic voice in comedy', made the announcement on Twitter. He is known for his voice over work in cartoons, including Aladdin, and controversial jokes.

In May last year, Gottfried promoted the corona vaccine. “You should get vaccinated, no joke. This is a matter of life and death.” The comedian seems to have died suddenly and unexpectedly, as he had several shows scheduled.

I know some found his humour too extreme, but I liked him and however risque his material I thought he was almost a kind of throwback as a comedian to a bygone age. The famous use of the Aristocrats joke 3 weeks after 9/11 seemed to epitomise him, brave to the point of foolhardy. It's worth hearing the account of it, there's a movie based on the joke which is worth a watch if you enjoy your comedy unfiltered. Gilbert's use of the joke to bring around a traumatised crowd, the most memorable instance within it, though Doug Stanhope's version was even better imo.

RIP Gilbert and thank you for the laughter.

I don't want to sidetrack a thread in his memory, but there's some odd stuff ongoing in the world at present and the recent deaths of Norm Macdonald and Bob Saget seem to link in some way with Gilbert Gottfried's, numerically at least. Norm died 3 months and 3 weeks before Saget, Gilbert 3 months and 3 days after.
