Senator Demands Biden Scrap Creepy ‘Disinformation’ Unit; “Dissolve This Monstrosity Immediately”:

Following news that The Department of Homeland Security’s new ‘disinformation governance board’ (https://summit.news/2022/04/28/dhs-disinformation-unit-headed-by-woman-who-said-hunter-biden-laptop-story-was-disinformation/) will be headed by a woman who says free speech makes her ‘shudder’ and who falsely labeled the Hunter Biden laptop story disinformation, Republicans called for the body to be scrapped, labelling it a ‘monstrosity’.

Heading the opposition to what has been compared to the Ministry of Truth in Orwell’s 1984, Senator Josh Hawley wrote to DHS Secretary Mayorkas noting “I confess, I at first thought this announcement was satire.”

"Surely no American Administration would ever use the power of Government to sit in judgement on the First Amendment speech of its own citizens,” Hawley continued.

“Sadly,” he added, “I was mistaken. Rather than protecting our border or the American homeland, you have chosen to make policing Americans’ speech your priority. This new board is almost certainly unconstitutional and should be dissolved immediately.”

“It can only be assumed that the sole purpose of this new Disinformation Governance Board will be to marshal the power of the federal government to censor conservative and dissenting speech,” the Senator concluded, urging “This is dangerous and un-American.”

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy also responded to the development, describing it as “Orwellian.”

“Leave it to Democrats to think free speech is the problem and more government is the solution,” McCarthy told The Daily Wire (https://www.dailywire.com/news/gop-leader-kevin-mccarthy-torches-biden-over-admins-new-orwellian-disinformation-governance-board).

“The notion that the same party that spent four years promoting the Russia collusion hoax, suppressed the Hunter Biden laptop story, and equated parents to domestic terrorists believes it has the credibility to tell Americans what is true is laughable,” he added.

Referring to Nina Jankowicz, the Congressman added that “it is telling that the person who would run Biden’s Orwellian Disinformation Governance Board is a political activist who has a long history of falling for and spreading disinformation.”

“It is easy to imagine this person abusing the term ‘disinformation’ to suppress facts and spin away inconvenient truths about the administration’s many failures, including their failures to secure the border,” McCarthy further urged, adding “The idea that the federal government should control speech sounds uncomfortably close to the Thought Police. Biden must immediately abandon his plan to create a modern-day Ministry of Truth.”


Representative Jim Jordan also hit out at the move, telling Mayorkas “You put out a bulletin two months ago, a big fancy bulletin here, red, white and blue. You said that misleading narratives, mis-, dis-, and mal-information, MDM, as you call it, misleading narratives undermine the trust in government. I was just wondering, when the head of the CDC, Miss Walensky, said that the vaccinated can’t get the virus, did that undermine trust in government?”

Jordan continued, “When the highest paid official in our government, the smartest man on the planet, Dr. Fauci, when he said the virus didn’t come from a lab, did that undermine trust in government? And will that be something that this governing board will look at?”

“How about when 51 former intel officials told us that the Hunter Biden story was–had all the earmarks of Russian misinformation? Will that be something that this governance board that you just formed, will you be looking into that?” Jordan also asked:

DHS Chief Mayorkas Gaslights: Disinformation Board Won’t Police Free Speech or Monitor Americans

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas defended the Orwellian-style Disinformation Governance Board during a CNN interview on Sunday, insisting that it wouldn’t infringe on free speech.

“Republicans are calling it ‘Orwellian’ and comparing it to the Ministry of Truth in the novel 1984,” anchor Dana Bash pointed out. “Can you clarify what exactly is this? What exactly will this disinformation governance board do? Will it monitor American citizens?”

Mayorkas admitted the DHS could have done a “better job” communicating the Disinformation Board’s purpose, claiming that criticisms by Republicans are the “opposite” of what the board will do.

“It’s clear, I mean, those criticisms are precisely the opposite of what this small working group within the Department of Homeland Security will do,” Mayorkas said. “And I think we probably could have done a better job of communicating what it does and does not do. The fact is that disinformation that creates a threat to the security of the homeland is our responsibility to address. And this department has been addressing it for years.”

“So, what it does, it works to ensure that the way in which we address threats, the connectivity between threats and acts of violence are addressed without infringing on free speech, protecting civil rights and civil liberties, the right of privacy.”

“And the board, this working group, internal working group, will draw from best practices and communicate those best practices to the operators because the board does not have operational authority,” he added.

Bash again asked, “Will American citizens be monitored?”

Mayorkas said the board is meant to monitor “cartels” and “foreign adversaries”, not American citizens.

“No. No, the board does not have any operational capability,” Mayorkas said. “What it will do is gather together best practices in addressing the threat of disinformation from foreign state adversaries, from the cartels and disseminate those best practices to the operators that have been executing and addressing this threat for years.”

Mayorkas also defended the Disinformation board’s leader, far-left radical Nina Jankowicz, claiming she’s a “renowned expert” who is “eminently qualified” in the “field of disinformation.”

Bash then asked Mayorkas whether he’d be comfortable if Donald Trump were again president and heading up such a board.

“Would you be okay if Donald Trump were president, if he created this disinformation governance board? Or — if it is in place and he wins again in 2024 — that he’s in charge of such a thing?” she asked.

Mayorkas dodged the question and again insisted the DHS is “safeguarding the right of free speech.”

“I believe that this working group, that gathers together best practices, makes sure that our work is coordinated, consistent with those best practices, that we’re safeguarding the right of free speech, that we’re safeguarding civil liberties, I think, is an extraordinary important endeavor,” Mayorkas said.

Jankowicz herself has disseminated plenty of disinformation and fake news despite claiming that most misinformation comes from the political right.

She pushed the Russia collusion hoax and characterized the Hunter Biden laptop story as “Russian disinformation” despite it being authenticated by numerous news outlets.

She has also called for Facebook to censor Breitbart News and other conservative media outlets.

"The day after the announcement last week of Elon Musk’s acquisition of Twitter, Michael McKibben and Douglas Gabriel talked about how Elon Musk is yet another one of these cardboard cut-outs who, like Mark Zuckerberg, Jeff Bezos, Peter Thiel, John McAfee and Mike Bloomberg (etc, etc) are cultivated by the Deep State to privatize taxpayer-funded, government technology and that the tech giants are just privatized arms of the Globalist intelligence apparatus.

McKibben says that the idea that Elon is going to rescue us and restore our free speech is “Kabuki theater” and a “Complete psychological operation.

“He has been a PSYOP since the early 2000s and we’ve watched him roam around in the PayPal Mafia…And then in 2008, Obama started feeding him cash and he got into the Energy Stimulus and then, magically, he got into the Space Program and then Tesla.”

Several times over the course of their research, McKibben’s team have been floored by discoveries about how the world actually works in the spheres of high finance, governments and telecommunications.

McKibben is the Founder of Leader Technologies and has been engaged in massive forensic research to produce indictable evidence for his case against Facebook.

He claims his 1999 white paper with his revolutionary source code for the scalability of social media fell into Zuckerberg’s hands while the latter was attending Harvard as a classmate of his son. The verdict in McKibben’s case against Facebook said that Facebook HAD infringed on his patent – but that the patent was invalid due to an obscure law.

He found that SpaceX’s portfolio included technology originally developed by a British company called Surrey Satellite Technology (SSTL) and which had been sold to EADS Astrium, a European aerospace conglomerate that includes Matra Marconi Space and Airbus Space Defense and Systems.”

In 2006, he says British Aerospace (BAE) announced a partnership with SSTL, which McKibben says is the classic, interlocking model that the Pilgrims Society has been using to structure businesses for over a century, putting these businesses under the control of the British Crown through their golden shares.

The Crown’s monopoly on British military technology was privatized in the 1970s, much of it in deals shepherded by Sir Geoffrey Pattie.

“One of the things that’s in there is they are going to ‘authenticate humans’. When you see the word, ‘authenticate’ in anything related to technology and communications, what that means is they’re going to make sure they know who you are, when you’re online, who you’re chatting with and so, they’re ‘saving’ you from the bots.

“They actually talk about this mission to ‘stop the spam bots’. So, in order to do that, they’ve got to know who you are. So, on the one side, they say they’re going to give you free speech, on the other side, what they’re not telling you is, in order to give you that free speech, we have to take away all of your privacy rights.

“And so, in the same announcement, they’ve done both and they put out the propaganda on the free speech part, which has got almost everyone singing Elon Musk’s praises and thinking he’s changed his stripes but there is absolutely no way that that is what’s going on, here.”

Enter the Department of Homeland Security, which was enacted shortly after the Patriot Act and which is currently headed by Alejandro Mayorkas, who last Wednesday announced the creation of the Disinformation Governance Board.

This new Ministry of Truth is to be headed up by Nina Jankowicz, an extreme DNC partisan, who has worked with the Atlantic Council, the Ukrainian government and with British Intelligence and who has referred to Hunter Biden’s laptop as “Russian disinformation”.

It provided a quasi-official imprimatur — something that could be depicted as an authoritative decree — that these authentic emails were, in fact, fraudulent.

After all, if all of these noble and heroic intelligence operatives who spent their lives studying Russian disinformation were insisting that the Biden emails had all of the "hallmarks" of Kremlin treachery, who possessed the credibility to dispute their expert assessment? This same strategic motive — to vest accusations of “disinformation” with the veneer of expertise — is what has fostered a new, very well-financed industry heralding itself as composed of “anti-disinformation" scholars. Knowing that Americans are inculcated from childhood to believe that censorship is nefarious — that it is the hallmark of tyranny — those who wish to censor need to find some ennobling rationale to justify it and disguise what it is.

They have thus created a litany of neutral-sounding groups with benign names — The Atlantic Council, the Institute for Strategic Dialogue, various "fact-checking” outfits controlled by corporate media outlets — that claim to employ “anti-disinformation experts” to identify and combat fake news. Just as media corporations re-branded their partisan pundits as "fact-checkers" -- to masquerade their opinions as elevated, apolitical authoritative, decrees of expertise -- the term "disinformation expert" is designed to disguise ideological views on behalf of state and corporate power centers as Official Truth.

The targeted views are not merely wrong; they have been adjudged by official, credentialed experts to constitute "disinformation.”

20 Republican-led states threaten legal action against DHS, urge disbanding of 'un-American' disinfo board


EXCLUSIVE: Republican-led states are threatening legal action against Department of Homeland Security's (DHS) new "Disinformation Governance Board," which they deem "un-American" and chilling to the free speech of Americans.

Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares is leading GOP attorneys general in sending a letter to Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas Thursday demanding that the department "cease taking action" contributing to a "chilling effect" on free speech.

"This is an unacceptable and downright alarming encroachment on every citizen’s right to express his or her opinions, engage in political debate, and disagree with the government," write the 20 attorneys general in a letter exclusively obtained by Fox News Digital.


The Republicans raise concern with the timing of the board's creation, saying it comes after the Biden administration has "flagged problematic posts" on social media and worked with Big Tech companies and the private sector to take down "misinformation" off its platforms.

"Suddenly, just as Elon Musk prepares to acquire Twitter with the stated purpose of correcting the platform’s censorship of free speech, you announce the creation of the Disinformation Governance Board. As the Biden Administration apparently loses a critical ally in its campaign to suppress speech it deems "problematic," you have created a new government body to continue that work within the federal government," says the letter to Mayorkas.

"The contemporaneous occurrence of these two events is hard to explain away as mere coincidence. It instead raises troubling questions about the extent of the Biden Administration’s practice of coordinating with private-sector companies to suppress disfavored speech."

The attorneys general also state that "no statutory authority" exists to support the creation of the board, making it illegal.

They also take issue with the executive director of the board, Nina Jankowicz, who they say is "often in error but never in doubt," pointing to her previous suggestions that Hunter Biden's laptop was a product of a disinformation campaign and that the COVID-19 lab-leak theory was invented to help former President Trump politically.

"Unless you turn back now and disband this Orwellian Disinformation Governance Board immediately, the undersigned will have no choice but to consider judicial remedies to protect the rights of their citizens," the attorneys general conclude.

Republican members of the House Homeland Security Committee also wrote a letter to Mayorkas Thursday, demanding DHS provide basic information to the committee including the disinformation board's organization, members, schedule and recommendations.

"Your recent testimony and media statements regarding the board, as well as a recent briefing for Committee staff, have only created more questions and concern," says the letter, led by Ranking Member Rep. Jon Katko, R-N.Y., and exclusively obtained by Fox News Digital.

"What this would do is continue [CISA's] work, and it would help coordinate internal activities from the department related to disinformation that poses a threat to the homeland," Psaki said Monday. "The mandate is not to adjudicate what is true or false, online or otherwise. It will operate in a nonpartisan and apolitical manner. It's basically meant to coordinate a lot of the ongoing work that is happening."

DHS did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment on the letter Thursday.

Back when the Russian empire fell, the Soviets took over, but there were lots and lots of people who were not in agreement of how things were happening, so there was the "White Army" who started a war against the "Red Army", eventually the Red Army won, but not because they were better, they were actually losing, then the White Army lost support in some ways and then soldiers lost the will to fight, they gave up and finally accepted it was the end of the Russian Empire

The head of what has been dubbed the Biden administration’s ‘Ministry of Truth’ previously compared free speech to “fairy dust” during testimony about social media censorship in front of the UK Parliament.

Yes, really.

Nina Jankowicz, recently appointed DHS ‘disinformation czar,’ made the comments while providing oral evidence (https://committees.parliament.uk/oralevidence/2714/html/) regarding the implementation of the UK’s controversial Online Safety Bill, which will ban legal content which has “the potential to cause harm.”

After agreeing that the government should set minimum speech standards which ban “misogyny,” Jankowicz blasted alternative social media platforms for supporting “freedom of expression and fairy dust.”

She also said that government-connected communications regulators such as Ofcom should “be able to establish the minimum standards that would be applied to all platforms and incur fines.”

“That could be based, again, on the preexisting terms of service,” she added.

Jankowicz also endorsed empowering governments to demand data on individual users from social media cites for the purpose of implementing further censorship policies.

“The social media platforms can do that if they are compelled to,” she said.

Jankowicz also asserted that social media platforms should utilize algorithms that would “allow us to get around some of the free speech concerns” by demoting content so few people saw it.

“You can shout in the black void, but you do not get a huge audience to do that,” she stated.

The comments are in line with previously statements made by Jankowicz when she revealed that free speech made her “shudder” while also promoting the lie that the Hunter Biden laptop story was Russian disinformation.

The disinformation czar also ludicrously cited Christopher Steele as an expert on disinformation. Steele was the author of the infamous Clinton campaign-funded Trump ‘peegate’ dossier’ that turned out to be an actual product of disinformation.

As we previously highlighted, Jankowicz previously demanded that “trustworthy verified people” like her be given the power to edit other people’s tweets, making Twitter more like Wikipedia.

The attorneys general of 20 states have threatened legal action against the US government unless they disband the newly formed Disinformation Governance Board.

We shared with you recently an article about the people behind the DGB, who have a history of trying to curb dissenting speech by calling it “disinformation.” We here at the OP have been the targets of censorship before and would not be surprised to see more of the same. (Here’s how we’re meeting the possibility of further oppression head-on.)

It turns out that we’re not the only ones concerned about this.

What’s being done?

In a letter addressed to DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, the Attorney General of Virginia, Jason Miyares, spoke for the AGs of 19 other states and shared his concerns about the overreach.

As the chief legal officers of our respective States, we, the undersigned Attorneys General, are tasked not just with enforcing the laws but with protecting the constitutional rights of all our citizens. Today we write you to insist that you immediately cease taking action that appears designed exclusively for the purpose of suppressing the exercise of constitutional rights.

Every American knows that the Constitution forbids the government to “abridg[e] the freedom of speech.” US Const. Amend. I. As Justice Robert Jackson wrote nearly eighty years ago, “[i]f there is any fixed star in our constitutional constellation, it is that no official, high or petty, can prescribe what shall be orthodox in politics, nationalism, religion, or other matters of opinion.” West Virginia State Bd. of Educ. v. Barnette, 319 US 624, 642 (1943).

Your recent testimony before the US House Appropriations Subcommittee on Homeland Security, however, indicated that the Department of Homeland Security, under your leadership, is doing exactly that: prescribing orthodoxy by slapping a federal-government label of “disinformation” or “misinformation” on speech that government bureaucrats, operating behind closed doors, decree to be improper. This is an unacceptable and downright alarming encroachment on every citizen’s right to express his or her opinions, engage in political debate, and disagree with the government. The Biden Administration’s latest effort to decide what speech is “acceptable” and “orthodox” combines McCarthyite speech policing with the secrecy of the English Star Chamber.

In short, you seem to have misunderstood George Orwell: the “Ministry of Truth” described in 1984 was intended as a warning against the dangers of socialism, not as a model government agency. “MiniTru” and its thuggish apparatchiks are the villains in that story, not the heroes. For the sake of our democracy, you must immediately disband the “Disinformation Governance Board” and cease all efforts to police Americans’ protected speech. The existence of the Disinformation Governance Board will inevitably have a chilling effect on free speech. Americans will hesitate before they voice their constitutionally protected opinions, knowing that the government’s censors may be watching, and some will decide it is safer to keep their opinions to themselves.

The resulting damage to our political system and our culture will be incalculable: as a democracy, our political debates and decisions are supposed to take place in the public square, where every citizen can participate, rather than in government office buildings where hand-picked and unaccountable partisan committees are insulated from public supervision and criticism.


The letter goes on to question the timing of the new Ministry of Truth (just as Elon Musk completes the purchase of Twitter with the stated goal of restoring free speech on the platform). It also calls into question the dubious qualifications of head honcho, Nina Jancowiz, who AG Miyares describes as “often in error but never in doubt.”

How will the AGs enforce this?

In a firmly worded promise, Miyares concludes:

Unless you turn back now and disband this Orwellian Disinformation Governance Board immediately, the undersigned will have no choice but to consider judicial remedies to protect the rights of their citizens.

We sincerely hope this puts a halt to the censorship efforts of the Biden administration.
