Hello Avalonians,

Here's a link to a non-fuzzy version of the classic documentary (with music by Stevie Wonder - who never saw the film prior) - based on the legendary book by Peter Tompkins and Christopher Bird. Well worth watching if you have never seen it.

Just a little niggly point - @ 16m and 20 seconds.

The Mimosa pudica certainly doesn't need ether to droop and 'sleep', it just needs contact (https://www.britannica.com/plant/sensitive-plant).

Stevie Wonder record "The Secret Life Of Plants" is one of my favorites Albums ever!
A master piece of sounds and image! (the documental)

Each song(double album) a masterpiece where he play best soul, funk and electronic, what most people don't know is that himself design all kind of keyboards...

One song ( I don't remember the tittle) is the first hardcore "techno" I ever heard, better than his precursors "krafwerk"...the scene with frantic traffic...

I went to his concert in Marbella (Spain) in the hope to listening, 3 hours and no songs from " The Secret Life Of Plants"...
I thought it was about "copyrights" things...

That's may be funny, but I don't find this music in internet, same with the documental, my spider sinn went on... why?...

Finally 2 year ago I found only the documental in very poor Quality and I got it!

What is about is "Anathema" for the "scientism" today, experiments with plants where it come about that are sentient bens ...they "know" when are in danger,
they "scream" to each oder about fire, they react different with all types of music, etc.

Maybe some people ( who got a garden, like myself) "know" something about...I " talk" smooth to them and I say thanks for your beauty, etc.

I saved many plants and then thanks back with many flowers, I know many peasants like and envy my little garden (6m plus5m) and this corner is know to be named( from people in the streets), I herd them to name it "the colorfully corner"

Thanks "samsdice" for this "quality" version . :flower:

Grover Cleveland "Cleve" Backster Jr. (February 27, 1924 – June 24, 2013) was an interrogation specialist for the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CIA), best known for his experiments with plants using a Polygraph (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polygraph) instrument in the 1960s which led to his theory of Primary Perception (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plant_perception_(paranormal)) where he claimed that plants feel pain and have Extrasensory Perception (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Extrasensory_perception) (ESP), which was widely reported in the media. These claims have been rejected by the scientific community.

I remember listening to Jeff Rense (https://rense.com) interviewing Cleve Backter (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cleve_Backster) in the early 2000s (the interview itself was made somewhere in the 1990s) ... it was a .mp3 or .wma file downloaded via torrent but it is not there anymore ... has anyone a link of that interview? ... a video or audio file?

Was super impressed listening to both of them asking the right questions!

cheers,

May not be in wheelhouse of the OP but was defending plants along animals with vegetarians regarding consumption but mostly what I received back was that it was a tired argument.
Still consider it a valid point which is loosely reflected in the science above.

Everything is alive.

Give thanks where thanks is due.

Boils down to respect.

Samsdice,

Thanks for posting this.
It got me curious and being old school, I googled and found the book (free pdf download) at
https://archive.org/details/TheSecretLifeOfPlants_201811

It's one of the most interesting reads I've had in a long, long time...
