"A major breakthrough in nuclear fusion (https://www.newsweek.com/nuclear-fusion-tokamak-reactor-equation-models-1727538) has been confirmed a year after it was achieved at a laboratory in California.

Researchers at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory's (LLNL's) National Ignition Facility (NIF) recorded the first case of ignition on August 8, 2021, the results of which have now been published in three peer-reviewed paper (https://www.llnl.gov/news/three-peer-reviewed-papers-highlight-scientific-results-national-ignition-facility-record)s.

Nuclear fusion is the process that powers the Sun (https://www.newsweek.com/earth-pummeled-solar-storms-more-sunspots-appearsuns-surface-1731651) and other stars: heavy hydrogen atoms collide with enough force that they fuse together to form a helium atom (https://www.newsweek.com/earth-core-leaking-helium-primordial-big-bang-1693263), releasing large amounts of energy as a by-product. Once the hydrogen plasma "ignites", the fusion reaction becomes self-sustaining, with the fusions themselves producing enough power to maintain the temperature without external heating.
Ignition during a fusion reaction essentially means that the reaction itself produced enough energy to be self-sustaining, which would be necessary in the use of fusion to generate electricity. (https://www.newsweek.com/american-military-fusion-reactor-space-avalanche-energy-orbitron-1721359)

Sounds promising, we know that world of 'Star Trek' is enabled in the first instance by fusion energy, this is what allowed them to kick out money and personal wealth as being the sole objective for living, food production and transport, cheap energy is what is going to liberate humanity, maybe they will have something before the big 'event' kicks off and blasts us back to the stone age, 2030-40 seems to be the time for this happening.

Notice how fusion is always a decade or 2 away? Perhaps a self-sustaining reaction at 10's of millions of degrees is too difficult, and if magnetic containment fails ........

I wish these scientists well, but there are far better alternatives, such as the molten salt thorium reactor that operated 50 years ago at Oak Ridge, Tennessee. 200 times more efficient than uranium, safe (can't meltdown) and the small amount of short-lived waste is much valued for medicine and industry.

My cynical mind thinks that the PTB want to spend large sums on red herrings than on alternatives that would benefit humanity.

I tend to be of the ( also cynical) opinion that many of these "breakthrough" technologies already exist and are in use. For a variety of agendas at play ( and they probably are legion) WE won't see any of them in common use until well after "The Event". These technologies solve too many "problems" and create too many new ones...

It is heartening in some small way to see that there is a better future on the horizon and a BIT disheartening to see that most will never get to experience it. Although..that Utopia looks more and more like a ful on Dystopian nightmare to me.

We are SO CLOSE to once again achieving Nirvanna on Earth and I fervently hope during this cycle we finally achieve escape velocity from whatever the lecherous "controllers" have planned, yet again.

The Georgia "guidestones" should have read: You have precisely 12,000 years to get your act together and get off this planet!

I always thought it was sad we focused on uranium early on instead of working harder to get thorium working, but you can't make nuclear bombs out of thorium

[Cynical Flag ON] As a fan of technology, my objections and opinions are not anti-technology. But the promise of generating cheap and abundant electricity by fusion is always 2 decades away. Furthermore, cheap and abundant energy is a threat, far greater than any imagined "climate change."
The simple reason is waste - as in waste heat.
Harnessing energy to do work invariably involves waste heat (friction). Even flying through the air generates waste heat. Our current puny consumption of energy has a minimal impact. Imagine 8+ billion folks with an abundance of power?
"Hey Dad, let me have the fusion runabout tonight... I wanna fly over to Tibet and back, to impress my new girlfriend..."
"Sure, Son, just have it back by 2:00 AM..."
"Yeah, I can do Mach 3.3 for most of the trip."
Human nature being what it is, has never exhibited restraint and common sense before, when expediency and convenience are involved.
[Cynic flag OFF]
I will be favorably impressed when the news reports a transition back to the most efficient form of land transport - steel wheel on steel rail (rail roading) - or a mandate to upgrade building codes to incorporate superinsulation in all buildings - or a national initiative to engineer suitable waterways for hydroelectricity and navigability, via dams and canals.

Chris Martenson takes the hype apart (and it was hype, though based on a real minor breakthrough), starting at 26:27 in this new video about the [very very real] global energy crisis.

The key problems:

The 'fusion, which did happen, lasted for 400 millionths of a second.
The powerful lasers needed to trigger this take a whole day to recharge before they can do it again.
The lasers themselves are so inefficient that they consume and waste a vast amount of power compared with the tiny 'over-unity' that comes from the fusion reaction itself.
Any actual useful benefit from this is likely to take at least 50 years (or much more) before it can start to solve any global energy shortfalls.

"On December 5, a team at LLNL’s National Ignition Facility (NIF) conducted the first controlled fusion experiment in history to reach this milestone, also known as scientific energy breakeven, meaning it produced more energy from fusion than the laser energy used to drive it. This historic, first-of-its kind achievement will provide unprecedented capability to support NNSA’s Stockpile Stewardship Program and will provide invaluable insights into the prospects of clean fusion energy, which would be a game-changer for efforts to achieve President Biden’s goal of a net-zero carbon economy."

The amount of effort put in the nuclear power propaganda (through books, movies, studies, education etc) dwarfs the covid19 psyop by an order of magnitude. The truth is, the conventional steam engines we call nuclear power plants are super safe, can be cooled with Sodium and fueled by spent rods recovered from other power plants or by Thorium (available everywhere). And they produce an enormous amount of extremely cheap and reliable energy, 24/7.

And you can still put a tap in place and charge for it, unlike zero point. But greed has become a virtue.

(Needless to say, this expensive and dangerous research is entirely unnecessary, and is part of the coverup of those original, independent inventors who have created devices that could be providing us all with safe, clean, cheap energy, but whose voices have been silenced and whose devices have been co-opted. And are no doubt being used in top secret facilities and DUMBs even now.)

US Nuclear-fusions Game Changing Achievement; ‘Ignition’ Over And Over:

5vvttM-i0F8

02:01 A US laboratory achieved nuclear fusion, setting a world record by producing a reaction releasing more energy than consumed, known as "ignition."
03:09 The Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in California achieved ignition in four of six attempts, generating pressures and temperatures greater than those inside the Sun.
04:32 The US government plans to establish three research centers to advance fusion science and address the lack of competitiveness in electric cars and manufacturing compared to China.
05:42 Fusion reactions achieved a 54% net energy gain, marking a significant leap in energy production, with subsequent attempts reaching an 89% increase over input energy.
08:52 The US Department of Energy allocates $42 million over four years for three new research and production centers to enhance laser fusion technology and workforce development.
10:29 True nuclear fusion power plants could potentially replace remaining fossil fuel plants, contributing to global clean energy efforts.
11:51 Ongoing experiments aim to improve laser configurations, potentially achieving larger yields, with a 7% boost in laser energy and the possibility of reaching 200% yields within 12 months.
