US issues "Terror Threat" in South Africa

Well this has put the cat among the pigeons, so to speak.

Earlier this week, the US embassy in South Africa issued a Terrorist alert (https://www.news24.com/news24/southafrica/news/us-embassy-issues-warning-of-possible-terror-attacks-in-sandton-20221026).

The South African government was not at all happy (https://www.thesouthafrican.com/news/state-security-agency-sandton-terror-attack-alert-information-breaking-26-october/) at being completely bypassed in their own county by a foreign county.

The gay pride event is set to go ahead, and who knows what all is behind all this. Very odd indeed.

If any of these 4 countries really did care about their own citizens, it might be more credible. But all four, in their domestic policies, have demonstrated that they do not have the slightest regard for their own people, So why would they be concerned about their people located in South Africa?

In this case I may be in agreement with the threat being self made by these countries, just because it suspiciously coincides with the docking of a Russian billionaire super yacht in Cape Town...just my 2 cents:noidea:

Yes that is very plausible.

The City of Cape Town initially wanted to refuse docking to the Russian billionaires' superyacht, but the South African Government overrode that and allowed it to dock (https://www.thesouthafrican.com/news/russia-tycoon-superyacht-free-dock-south-africa-ports-breaking-25-october-2022/)

My sense as well it is definitely something along those lines - more of a coded warning to certain people to "get back in line".

For those not familiar with the details of South African politics, the City of Cape Town in the province of the Western Cape, where the wondrous Table Mountain is, is openly and vigorously supportive of Ukraine (https://www.polity.org.za/article/city-hall-to-be-lit-up-in-blue-and-yellow-in-support-of-ukraine-2022-03-02), while the South African government is steadfastly neutral and will not take a stand against Russia (https://www.sapeople.com/2022/03/02/cape-town-stands-in-solidarity-with-ukraine-while-sa-government-abstains-from-historic-un-vote/).
