I remember the late "Red Elk" told Art Bell he clairvoyantly determined Mel's Hole was part of a lava tube leading to the level of reality below this level (8 levels total). He gave directions on how to drive there, but it is now protected US govt property, fenced off, with warnings and sensors.

The entire earth's crust would have to be surveyed with high end penetrating technologies from space before a hole 80,000 ft/15 mi/24 km deep could be created. I imagine a laser in orbit could do the job. This is fascinating...this is one interesting thread. I live in Washington state. I would go visit in a heartbeat but I'm pretty sure I wouldn't get any way near. I love mysteries like this.

That's all it might take.... it is a potential ultimate adventure. Could even sleep in the back of my car, a tiny taste of modified van life. I have always been really, really curious.
