Karl Denninger of The Market Ticker chimes in:
A Warning (Which We Will Ignore)
[Comments enabled]
2022-12-05 07:00 by Karl Denninger
Read this carefully folks....
Municipality and county officials “have formed a plan for the night and the next few nights that we may be out of power. It’s a very serious situation,” Fields said. “So we’ve come to an agreement to best protect our citizens and to protect the businesses of our county, we’re going to implement a curfew tonight.”
The power outage in Moore County is being investigated as a “criminal occurrence” after crews found signs of potential vandalism at several locations, CNN previously reported.
Two substations taken out with (presumed) small-arms rifle fire (e.g. bog-standard hunting rifles) from what obviously were a very small group of people, perhaps one or two at each location pissed off about who-knows-what.
Question: Why couldn't this be immediately fixed?
Answer: They don't have spares for the parts that were damaged.
It's a gun folks, not a large blast that destroyed the land around the area. Equipment was damaged. Ok, so replace it and turn the power back on.
That only works if you have the replacements, which they obviously do not. There is nowhere in this nation where you can't drive a truck full of equipment across a single county in a couple of hours. Doing so requires you have the replacements.
Why do they not have the spares?
Because we sent our supply lines overseas, we made no provisions to have spares, and the regulators at the state and federal level sat on their hands and played with themselves instead of requiring that providers of critical services, such as electricity, had a sufficient stock of spares to cover both routine failures and those caused by weather or low-grade assaults perpetrated by small numbers of people.
This is the gross incompetence we have throughout our society. It is the manifestation of "oh nothing bad will ever happen so we don't have to be prepared for it" that has shown up in all manner of other places, such as the cars that are completed except for chips in their engine computers without which they will not run, and thus they're sitting in a field unsold.
Rather than insist that such critical items be produced here in the United States, including all precursor components over the last couple of decades we did nothing of the sort. We allowed the nickel to be "saved" and then pocketed by the shareholders, directors and officers while offshoring supply to China and other places which have no duty to US citizens.
We then went further in our official malfeasance and performed no audits or forced corrective action when the spares were not available and resupply looked possibly challenged, to the point that vehicles are stacked up and can't be sold for want of a chip and now power is out in an entire county because the switchgear and transformers in two bog-standard substations that feed the area were damaged and the power company has no spares available to immediately replace them.
What you should learn from this is that this sort of disruption is tiny compared to what ever one hundred dedicated men, uncorrelated and thus unable to be interdicted in advance could do any time they decided to.
Further, while I'm sure they'll find the parts somewhere in the US and restore power if the damage was to fifty counties instead of one the odds are high that said parts would not exist at all in the United States and might not be available in sufficient quantity to actually restore service to everyone for months or even longer.
"Oh, that could never happen", says you?
We have a secure border and a group of a couple hundred gang-banger terrorists that want to screw America couldn't get in along with all those "migrants" undetected and do this all over the place right?
What if you're wrong?

Please understand, there is no such thing as a hunting rifle, unless you are actually hunting wild animals for food. Only then, are you hunting.
That is just a name given to the any gun you use, to protect yourself with, and demorilise hunting.
just as an assault weapon is used to describe many guns. Its b.s.
A butter knife, fork, spoon, whatever you use to attack somebody with is an assault weapon, but not until you actually attack somebody with it.
Only then can you call it The assault weapon used. If it is used to destroy something, it is merely the weapon you chose to use.
Not a hunting rifle.
Other than that, good post. thanks.

There's a power pole nearby that had its base destroyed by something. It's in an alley and there's no way a vehicle could have done that because there's not enough room for anything to get enough speed from any direction. For weeks-months it has been held up by braces. I see it as a premeditated global setup. If they engineered it so they can only get parts from foreign countries and turmoil is being generated there preventing delivery then it's a receipt for disaster. Over a year ago the lights on our street went out for about a month. The power company said they don't have the parts to fix the problem. An excuse whether true or false was the homeless were tapping into the light poles and power boxes.

Is that a civil engineer who was on the scene?
Would he like to eat 230 kV in the rain??
They obviously do have the parts, or it couldn't have been fixed...
SC shots were a mile (https://www.wsoctv.com/news/local/fbi-investigates-shots-fired-near-duke-energy-plant-south-carolina/2VNITGUP55GUTAL2BIEANY5C2U/) away.
Channel 9′s Madison Carter has learned of another incident at a substation last month in Jones County, near the North Carolina coast, that impacted 12,000 Carteret-Craven Electric customers. Investigators would only call it “vandalism,” but didn’t specify how it was vandalized.
Carter also uncovered back in March, someone targeted a power substation in Durham County, but that didn’t impact any customers. Again, the Department of Energy would only refer to this as an intentional attack, but shared no details on how it happened.
This goes on all the time. The rumors are more or less true. We have a lot of people with guns, and some attack inanimate objects, such as power stations.
What enforcement agency does one consider "reliable protection"?
They are not state or federal properties, so there is no jurisdiction.
Would "you" go do it for "me"?

Don't think it is about Ukraine, no.
I just figure it is like many other things in our supply chain that were off-shored largely to China. Things such as auto parts, hardware, some pharmaceuticals, etc. To save $$ on wages and materials, the US produced less and less over the last 20 or so years, and also began implementing "Just-In-Time" systems, rather than stockpiling inventory. When the supply lines are curtailed, for any reason, it places lots of things in jeopardy.

Hi from northern Canada. We had a mysterious power outage in my locality yesterday December 8 for several hours. (It's back on now.) When I called the local power supplier to find out what happened, they answered they don't know, but it affected quite a wide area... Our power is mostly from hydro turbines. This is rather unsettling as it is winter here and quite cold, many people are completely dependent on electricity for heating.
Strange coincidences of unexpected power outages in various north american locations...
Who remembers that in July of 2019 Venezuela had many power outages, and suspected electromagnetic sabotage by the USA military machine or deep state which disapproved of their politics:
"Blackouts plunge Venezuela into chaos as minister blames saboteurs
"Nationwide outages caused by ‘electromagnetic attack’ on hydroelectric system, government claims"
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2019/jul/22/venezuela-blackout-caracas-other-states-latest-power-outage
As the cabal is forever seeking ways to sow chaos and destruction to gain world control, I could see that one of their tactics would be attacks on power grids.

It's time to seriously check your own supplies for emergencies, and possibly long term survival needs. Generators, fresh water supplies, food... Warm clothing, and an ample supply of things to keep us healthy, of which there are many threads here for such things... Things don't seem to be getting better, only worse. I suppose it is time to check my own stock...

To do that much damage with "a hunting rifle" strongly suggests the shooter either has in depth knowledge of these stations or has had instruction.
IMHO there is no way this is "vandalism", it's part of the ongoing campaign of terror being waged on the populace at large, I mean all over the world, not any individual country.
I'll second what Denise said above, prepare. Don't forget that water is pumped in a lot of places & that requires electricity too.
I'm currently rigging up a generator to power our house, we only have gas central heating, that won't work without electric, and I want the fridge to stay cold too. We have a lot of wind farms here, and the air is now very still, and it's -4°c.

The issue is something to keep our eyes on for sure. And something that preparation for may be critical. Karen could likely offer a lot of feedback on this thread, as she suffered through the midst of the power outage ice storms in Texas last year, which was quite a disaster.
I am just noticing too many hints, from MSM for comfort. Seems every day MSM is hinting. Here is an example from today:
ATTACKS ON U.S.ENERGY GRID: IS THIS DOMESTIC TERRORISM?
(some snipped quotes from the story below)
"There are around 155,000 energy substations spread across the United States, most of them in rural areas, or in semi-rural areas around big cities. They are metal and marked by danger signs; full of technical-looking transformers that convert the high voltages that come from power plants to the electricity that can enter our homes.
The substation equipment is surrounded by high metal mesh fences topped by barbed wire, with signs that warn about the danger of high voltage energy shock they represent. Everything about them seems designed to keep people safe from the equipment — not the other way around.
The gun attack on two electric substations last Saturday night in Moore County, North Carolina was a shock in more ways than one. It continued to bring trauma and grief to 40,000 people in this rural county days after the weaponized attack that put an entire county in the dark and cold got media attention. It appears now that it was not an isolated incident and it was not an accident.
Investigators from Duke Energy, whose substation it was, the Department of Energy, and the FBI say this was no youthful prank or “drunken pot-shotting”. The culprits attacked that substation with high-power rifles appearing to have known exactly what to hit, where to hit it and how many shots it would take to take it down.
In other words, this was what by any definition qualifies as domestic terrorism."
<snip>
"Now, what used to be the conservative right appears to be more than extremism — some have described the movement that could be behind these attacks as ‘violent anti-government activity’. It appears to be precisely the definition of domestic terrorism that the Department of Homeland Security bulletin released prior to the mid-term election warned us about."
<snip>
"“It’s impossible to keep it completely safe. We believe in the inherent good of people and 99 percent of people are inherently good. There are bad actors in every sector,” said Sangre de Cristo Electric Association CEO Paul Erikson. “Vandalizing power stations and substations is about the highest form of stupidity there is. Everybody uses power and people can get badly hurt … not the least of which is our employees. There is environmental damage too,” he added. “Shoot at a transformer you’ll spill 1,000 gallons of oil, and you can start a fire.”"
<snip>
"The normally easy-going Erickson sounded a more somber note regarding the dangers of these attacks. “That’s not even including the human suffering caused by prolonged power outages. The production waiting list for transformers is 12 to 24 months out. Someone destroys a substation in winter and it’s terrorism — In the winter people could die.”

Our little town in northern Canada was told by the power station officials that the recent power outage was caused by a "tripped sensor", but they don't know what 'tripped' it.
I wonder if a strong magnetic field from an outside source could induce tripping? Like an EMP?

More than 14,000 in Washington state lose power after energy station attacked
Christmas Day outages add to an alarming string of incidents with similar power grid vandalism in Oregon and North Carolina
More than 14,000 people suffered power outages in Washington state on Christmas Day following burglaries and a series of vandalisms at different power stations.
The Pierce county sheriff said in two statements that no suspects have yet been identified for the incidents.
Emergency crews work to clean up the largest US crude oil spill in nearly a decade, following a leak at the Keystone pipeline operated by TC Energy in rural Washington county, Kansas.

The Christmas Day outages add to an alarming and increasing list of similar incidents in the US. There were six attacks across power stations in Oregon and Washington earlier this month, following a similar attack on a power grid in North Carolina at the beginning of December.
In the attack in North Carolina, assailants shot gunfire into two stations, with some claiming that it was done in order to halt a local drag show.
While there are no suspects in the string of attacks, there are concerns that at least some of these assaults are carried out by extremists, motivated by online conspiracy theories and pursuing a far-right agenda.
The most recent incident in Washington unfolded on Christmas evening, there was a fire on the premises of Puget Sound Energy substation following a burglary. “The suspect(s) gained access to the fenced area and vandalized the equipment which caused the fire,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement on Sunday.
Early on Christmas morning, around 2.30am, an energy utility company Puget Sound Energy experienced a power outage “where the fenced area was broken into and the equipment vandalized”, said another statement from the sheriff’s office.
At about 5.30am, a break-in and vandalism in a Tacoma Public Utilities facility about 10 miles away, led to a power outage.
Following that, just a couple of miles away, there was a “forced entry” at a substation where nothing was stolen.
Tacoma Public Utilities said in a statement on Sunday that the issue was a lot more severe than they had initially thought.
“Unfortunately, the impacts to our system from today’s deliberate damage are more severe in some places than initial testing indicated,” they said on Sunday evening in an update in a live feed on Facebook.
Pierce county Sgt Darren Moss has said that it’s likely the incidents are related.
“There’s a good possibility they are related, we are going to be investigating to see if this was coordinated by a specific group or people,” he told news station KING 5, “but at this time all we know is that we have burglaries where the power was purposefully knocked out.”

Hunting rifle schmunting rifle - any long gun with rifled barrel is designed to fire a high velocity, relatively heavy bullet that has a great deal of kinetic energy behind it.
Most rifles designed specifically for taking down big game use ammunition very similar to military ammo and can fire fully jacketed bullets that can easily penetrate the skin of a large substation transformer. Those tranformers have a very toxic oil inside them that cools the transformer. Not sure if the oil is highly flammable, but it will burn.
All that's necessry to take out one of those really big substation transformers is to puncture it with enough holes to drain the coolant. Then the tranformer overheats and obviously the coolant will ignite.
These large transformers can probably be repaired if they haven't sustained serious damage. You do not replace these transformers quickly or easily. There are very few spares available. This is why a Carrington Event (geomagnetic storm) is so serious - there aren't enough transformers laying around to replace the many thousands that will explode due to the extreme induced curents in the transformer during the magnetic storm.
No, I'm not an expert on the trasformers used in these intermediate substations such as the ones in the Tacoma area not too far from where I live. Thankfully there's a whole lot of water between me and them. But I will say that Tacoma, nearby Federal Way, and the smaller cities such as Auburn are so dangerous that I will not travel there for any reason.
I recently went to Federal Way for a doctor appointment, thinking it can't be as bad as everyone tells me it is. What I saw was actually heartbreaking. There's a very large mall there that once was made into the city community center. I visited that mall. It's clearly third-world destitute today, so filthy with garbage ground into the streets and sidewalks that I doubt it will ever be clean again.
Now, parts of Tacoma (Hilltop, especially) have always been known to be where the bullets fly 24/7. Today the bullets fly everywhere. Tacoma and Federal Way have had constant shootings for years now. If they're bored they just shoot at passing cars. My guess is that the three substations taken out in the Tacoma area are copycat shootings unless all of the nation's substation attacks are funded by the eF_bee_i, which really is my greatest suspicion.
This is just another way to put fear into the hearts and minds of the populace. And who is best known for doing such things? Those three letter devils that Scully and Mulder were run out of on a rail because they were too honest.
Actually, all of those recently fired twitter-nerds are likely still on the payroll, just not Elon's payroll. And some might just be latte guzzling gun nuts.
Speculation can get you anywhere. What concerns me are the cross-country high tension lines crossing the Cascades from the dams in the east. They are incredibly vulnerable.
I lived for a long time in the high North Cascades and always wondered why there wasn't any security on those towers and lines. But then I was distracted too much by the fabulous auras emanating from the high-tension lines against a black starry sky. You didn't need lsd or psilocybin to see at least a six foot multi-colored aura around those lines.
With a decent dose of green or red dragon blotter acid though, the colors were mesmerising - at least twenty or thirty feet surrounding the lines in the brisk night air of the high country with the Milky Way as background. Those were the days.
I think we will see lots of copycat attacks on these substations. Then someone will find a more spectacular way to draw attention and engender fear.
I know, I should have shut up after the first paragraph. Or should not have written it at all.
But I will say that it would be real easy for citizens to get together and do nightwatch around their local substation. This 'phenomenon' might actually bring the best of us closer together. Where I live it's the racoons that do nightwatch duty just down the hill at the small substation that we love so much.

Yes, EMFs from the Sun can cause power outages, in fact one big one can cause the entire electric grid to go down.

"In my research, I found a statistical correlation between separatist groups and a preference for energy infrastructure attacks. Many of today’s domestic right-wing and neo-Nazi domestic extremist groups have similar grievances against the government and large institutions. They embrace ideologies that seek the fall of government or current systems: a reset. The theory is that attacking the power grid is one method to bring about that change. Many extremist groups refer to this as accelerationism. Accelerationists seek to hasten the collapse of society by sparking unrest. Their ideas about bringing down the power grid are one approach to igniting this instability."

Several months ago The W.H.O. U.N. and W.E.F. had what I'll call a crisis meeting to get back on top of the info war and propaganda war. The outcome of that meeting was a quick agreement to put their foot on the gas for an all encompassing globalist 'treaty' and matching action plan. It may have been what they call the 'Pandemic Treaty' but I'm a bit vague on that, I only read the feel of their urgency and determination and assumed others would follow the paperwork.
Until I saw a fresh W.H.O. promo video last week I didn't think more about what form their action plan would take. These power plant incidents make a match with this W.H.O. video, in an eerily urgent threatening way.
https://twitter.com/WHO/status/1602991915808456705
1602991915808456705
I don't know, and I'm asking anyone, what paperwork commitments did the US sign up for as a result of that 'emergency' gathering and action plan several months ago at the globalist level ( it was before these power plant incidents but not a lot before ). Was anything signed into firm legislation ? . . . or are they gasping for a lucky break ?
If these two dots genuinely do join, the move suggests, more than ever, that they want to fight patriots with internationally conscripted globalist goons.

FBI arrests man, woman with 'extremist' views in alleged power grid attack plot targeting 5 substations
Sarah Beth Clendaniel, of Maryland, and Brandon Clint Russell, of Florida, charged out of Baltimore in alleged energy grid attack plot
February 6, 2023
The FBI and U.S. Attorney's Office officials in Baltimore announced they had arrested two individuals, a man and a woman, with extremist views who were allegedly attempting to attack the power grid in Maryland.
FBI officials told reporters they believe this was a "real threat" that had been thwarted.
Sarah Beth Clendaniel, 34, of Catonsville, Maryland, and Brandon Clint Russell, 27, of Orlando, Florida, are charged through a federal criminal complaint with conspiracy to destroy an energy facility, Erek L. Barron, U.S. Attorney for the District of Maryland, and Special Agent in Charge Thomas J. Sobocinski, of the FBI Baltimore Field Office, announced Monday.
Clendaniel spoke to an FBI informant about her plan just last week, according to authorities. Russell is an alleged neo-Nazi figure who authorities say posted locations of substations.
Clendaniel allegedly told an FBI confidential source that she planned to target five substations including in Norrisville, Reisterstown and Perry Hall, according to an affidavit by Special Agent Patrick W. Straub, of the Joint Terrorism Task Force ("JTTF") in the FBI Baltimore Division.
If they hit a number of them all in the same day, they "would completely destroy this whole city," and that a "good four or five shots through the center of them … should make that happen," Clendaniel allegedly said. She further added, "[i]t would probably permanently completely lay this city to waste if we could do that successfully."
The affidavit reveals the two defendants were in separate prisons for past crimes and communicated online. In messages, Clendaniel allegedly referenced Unabomber Ted Kaczynski and Hitler. She was in a Maryland prison for robbing convenience stores with a machete. Russell was in prison for holding bomb making materials.

A record number of attacks on electrical grids plunged thousands of Americans into darkness last year, as authorities worry neo-Nazis are targeting critical infrastructure

"An Insider investigation has found that attacks against the electrical grid nationwide are at an all-time high — and experts say the greatest threat comes from right-wing extremists seeking to sow chaos and accelerate the devolution of the social order. The investigation, which includes an analysis of newly released Department of Energy data, visits to substations, a review of law enforcement records from nine jurisdictions, as well as neo-Nazi propaganda, and interviews with six power industry and extremism experts, found that attacks on the grid spiked dramatically last year, with a 72 percent increase over 2021.
The motivation for attacks on substations can vary wildly and usually remain unknown, as most perpetrators are never caught. But law enforcement officials and researchers who study extremism say that far-right zealots are increasingly intent on targeting the grid under the banner of neo-Nazi "accelerationism," or the theory that chaos and destabilizing violence will help bring about a race war."
