I stand by what I say. It's about time that people realised that 'voting' per se is nothing but a placatory tool to persuade us that we are living in a 'democracy', fostering the mentality of 'I hate this - it is so wrong, but hey-ho, we can vote them out at the next Election', mindset.

A council spokesman has proved this by stating that it doesn't matter what we think or say - they're going to do it, anyway. Blatant, in your face disregard for our human rights. The public have been incredibly slow in getting off their backsides and facing this - and some never will, so it's up to those who can see this evil control to call it out for what it is.
Easy-peasy - just make a thorough nuisance of themselves and refuse to pay their road tax, council tax etc....hit the council where it hurts the hardest. I agree though with those who say that this must be done in large enough numbers, so the predators will find it difficult to pick us off individually. I see a victory of sorts, however, because the restrictions are going to affect everyone - even the cosy normies

Derby smells like it is moving towards the WEF 15 minute city too, and I wonder how many other towns? The town council, who produced this announcement, says it's a Government request (below).

Council to begin monitoring journey times with ANPR

As part of the Roadside NO2 scheme, Derby City Council will be installing 27 ANPR cameras across 12 sites in the city to monitor journey times through key areas. They will not be used for any enforcement purposes.

Data gathered by the cameras will be used to help the Council understand how vehicles travel around the city, their journey times and how those journeys impact air quality.

Cameras will be installed on the following roads from Monday 5 September:


A516 Uttoxeter New Road Royal Derby Hospital
A5111/ A38 Grand Canyon
Uttoxeter New Road Rowditch
Uttoxeter Old Road Sims Avenue
Ashbourne Road
Uttoxeter New Road - Sudbury Street
Mercian Way

Although there are other ways to monitor traffic in the city, the Council has been asked to use ANPR (Automatic number plate recognition) by the Government so that data can be used for national air quality modelling.
The data will also help the Council make improvements to roads that will benefit not just private vehicles but public transport, cyclists and pedestrians.

Councillor Steve Hassall, Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Decarbonisation, Strategic Planning and Transport commented:


For most of our residents, travelling is an everyday need so it’s important that we’re making this as quick and easy as possible however people decide to travel. However, we also have a duty to protect our environment and reduce harmful emissions that particularly impact pedestrians and cyclists.

The data collected by these cameras will allow our teams to make informed decisions about any future changes to our highway network and deliver the best outcomes for the travelling public.

The Roadside NO2 project has already seen significant changes made to key junctions in the city including Stafford Street. Further information about the Roadside NO2 scheme is available on the Council website.

A pioneering Clean Air Neighbourhood project to improve air quality and local people’s health was extended to all of South Fulham on 1 December.

It follows the successful trial to the east of Wandsworth Bridge Road which has seen 8,000 fewer cars emitting dangerous nitrogen oxide entering the area. Carbon dioxide emissions have reduced by one tonne a day.

The new trial to the west aims to discourage out-of-borough motorists from using residential streets as cut-throughs.

It uses smart technology cameras to reduce pollution and congestion in the streets to the east of Wandsworth Bridge Road.

All residents of the borough with vehicles registered in Hammersmith & Fulham can go through the cameras without penalty.
