Hello all. I was inspired to put the "Our Father prayer" to music

This is my first post anywhere of this. I have yet to get my vocalists to sing it

I hope to have singers and vocalists of every kind do so.

This world, this country needs healing.
I say this prayer every morning simply because I feel good doing so.

The piano and arrangement are excellent. I was singing along as it played the beautiful melody. Marvellous!

Amen

Yes, lovely open inviting music. Like a lilly pad waiting for an exotic vocalist to land and make herself/himself at home there for a performance of a lifetime.

Thank you all very much. The fact that you all took time to listen means much to me. Norman, your comment in particular is one I hope to have someday realized.

Nice music, Doug. Bold enough to back the message, and gentle in doing so, as is the tenor of the prayer. And I like how you resolved it.

I have one problem with the lyrics. At 1:10 comes up “Lead us not into temptation, but...”. Who wrote and who sanctioned/licenced this modern version of that prayer? All I can think of is that the controllers of the text, at some point and probably early on — maybe before the council of Nicea, 325 AD — were used to gods that would ‘f’ with them lol.

Should read “Lead us through (times of) temptation, and...” Just my opinion. Cheers.

Doug, I need to recalibrate to universal energy, every day. The distracting thoughts that assail me, during my daily prayers, give me an indication, of the intensity of the assault on the composite mind.

Johnnycomelately/ many thanks for this observation. I actually went with the prayer I remembered from catholic grammar school. so the prayer with some nostalgia added!

But when a singer arrives, I will give it thought and my change it to your suggested wording.

yoda/ agreed!!

That was lovely, Doug, thank you for sharing it with us all. I hope you find some beautiful voices to sing along. Montserrat and Freddie would have been the dream team for it (imho).

I agree with Johnnycomelately about that particular line, by the way, and I'm glad you will consider that change. Never forget who the Catholic church really represents.
