Hi Friends,

Could you please help me out?

It shouldn't take long, less than a minute.

Can some of you provide me with 4 randomly picked numbers each consisting of up to 1000? Any number will do. Just reply back to this thread below.

A: (Any number between 1 - 1000 for A)
B: (Any number between 1 - 1000 for B)
C: (Any number between 1 - 1000 for C)
D: (Any number between 1 - 1000 for D)

So for example I chose:

A: 681
B: 854
C: 939
D: 267

I would appreciate it if at least 5 PA members could supply me with their 4 randomly chosen numbers between 1 and 1000.

Thank you in advance.

Cheers,
Szymon

B: 962
C: 28
D: 195

Hi Szymon. I will participate because I am curious. But first, I will state that I don’t know your meaning of “random”.

Not trying to be a troll here, just looking for data, as any experimenter should do:

A: 1
B: 2
C: 3
D: 4

I thnk that these are validly random, as they were the first ones that popped up. If you think that they are not, you have my blessing to discard these choices as an artifact in your mysterious study.

As ever, to you, cheers!.

I'm curious too:

A: 17
B. 5
C. 90
D. 787

Thank you all for participating in this experiment and providing your data.

Providing what data??

Thank you all for participating in this experiment and providing your data.

Providing what data??

I meant the random data for the four A, B, C, and D variables. I'm looking into the complexities of computer-generated random functions with and without human input.

Below are some reference materials.

Thank you all. I no longer need any more data.

It can be used as a form of numerical clairvoyance, another model of numerology, the science of numbers.
Give me your numbers and I'll know a lot more about you than you could give me. another way to give these credit card numbers? 🪪

What were your conclusions or findings so far?

"Some people hear that computers don't generate “real” random numbers, they generate “pseudo-random numbers” (true), and therefore conclude that computers are inadequate for testing betting systems, and that their systems can beat the real world of a casino even if they can't beat the numbers generated by a computer (completely dead wrong). For almost all intents and purposes, the numbers generated by Xorshift128+ (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GaY5mthUEAo) or any of the other modern algorithms are virtually indistinguishable from real random numbers. They pass batteries of statistical tests for randomness, including frequency distribution, gaps, and repetition (or lack thereof). The bottom line is, you can't tell the computer-generated output from the real thing, and there's no statistical difference between live results in a real casino and what you get from the generator".

Thank you John for your post. This is exactly what I was researching.

Lunesoleil - I was very surprised at your answer and will try something else with the above data.

Cheers,
Szymon
