Many thanks. There were 5 (five) large earthquakes there in quick succession: 6.2, 5.6, 6.4, 5.9, with a 5.0 a couple of hours later. :worried: The death toll is sure to be a lot greater than just 1000. :flower:

Mod note:

Mark has been working behind the scenes to enable our automatic earthquake feed. The problem is that it works TOO well, with 4.0 and 5.0 quakes frequently being reported (many of them!) even though the filter is set for >6.0. We'll fix this, for sure, as we know that large earthquakes are of significant interest to many Avalon members.

This event could easily slip from the news. :flower:

The text:
The death toll from the earthquake in Afghanistan last night by 22:00 Moscow time was already more than 1,500 people
Half of Herat, the third most populous city in Afghanistan (about 600 thousand inhabitants), lies in ruins. Up to 50,000 people were trapped under the ruins.
Due to developments in Israel and the Gaza Strip, the world barely noticed yesterday's tragedy. According to various estimates, the number of deaths from the consequences of the earthquake will range from 7 to 50 thousand people.
