I agree, that they want to tokenize everything (convert all assets, including physical assets like land, into a digital form that takes preferential control). My comment was directed at the price potential of BTC meaning its price could skyrocket if it indeed becomes the basis of currency valuation.

Bitcoin is like gold.

As gold is a core physical asset that has value in the market because it's difficult to mine, difficult to fake, easy to recognize and inventory, and has been generally accepted world wide for ages as so is Bitcoin becoming a core digital asset.

Unfortunately (from my more libertarian, less elitist, perspective) just as gold has become a relic, so will Bitcoin ... much faster.

In both cases:

The major institutions will transact in "more convenient" derivatives of the base currency.

Governments will collect taxes and fund benefits and projects in whatever derivative they so dictate (hence the term "fiat".)

Banks will lend money, handle transactions, store wealth, and collect debt payments in such a derivative.

Corporations will conduct all their finances and operations using such a derivative.

Similarly other large institutions that almost all of us have to use on occasion, such as insurance companies, doctors and hospitals, legal firms, stock exchanges and investment firms, ... will conduct their business in such a derivative.


All but a few hard core "off gridders" will live their lives, such as in the U.S. from the assignment of a Social Security number at birth to the receipt of Social Security payments in their retirement, enmeshed in a world of such derivatives.

The "price" (value in terms of such derivatives that can actually earn income, pay taxes, purchase food, clothing and shelter, and so forth) of the underlying asset, once gold, now becoming bitcoin, will be manipulated by the elite, who will own almost all the real underlying asset, locked away in vaults or multi-signature digital hardware wallets, and who will exert almost complete control over the exchange rate between that real asset and the "paper" or "digit" derivative asset that everyone (but some remote tribes and that hard core off gridder) will really need to live their lives and conduct their business.

This (digital gold "based" monetary system) is all being setup at break neck speed.

Gold bugs have long realized that modern day central bank issued debt-based money has a shelf life. The ever increasing interest due on future debt repayments overwhelms the system.

But we won't collapse back to a real gold based system. Rather we will collapse to a "digital gold" based system ... aka Bitcoin.

The digital derivatives of Bitcoin provide the elite bastards fertile ground for the "perfect surveillance and control grid" that they envision. Just as industrial scale farmers move their flocks and herds from the open fields into large barns with constant monitoring and electronically controlled food, water, light, heating, medicine, insemination and slaughter, so do the elites envision doing with humanity.

They will try ... they are trying ... they have been trying for millenia.

They will fail, perhaps in my lifetime (and I'm getting long in the tooth). Some of us are difficult to herd, and the solar micro-nova and pole shift (cf Ben Davidson of Suspicious Observers) will wipe out the global digital system.

On second thought - let me revise that forecast a bit.

Bitcoin lacks the liquid float of gold. Central banks will move to gold. They know and trust it, and they can buy or sell in the gold market in a few huge transactions each day without upsetting the market too much. Bitcoin will become the underlying core asset of the various digital derivatives of bitcoin that us ordinary people use. Those derivatives can (soon will be able to) handle a huge volume of smaller transactions.

A few huge transactions: Gold for the elite
Many small transactions: Derivatives of Bitcoin for the masses.

Investing in crypto currencies is folly, imho.
All investments in the material world (including the digital world that is just an appendage of the physical world) are folly, sooner or later.

Such investments have longer or shorter time frames, varying and entangled webs of risk, varying motives, and are made by investors with varying assets to invest and varying circumstances and knowledge/understanding affecting their choices.

Such is life ... until it isn't, at least not in whatever material sense we each know it in our current bodies.

So was not a folly 4 years ago, but I am not intending to invest further in that asset type (retired since then and living on past decisions), just a question for me of the risk/return as to when to fully sell and where to put the gains if/when I do.
