What are the characteristics of the coming war? (I am quite sure of it, because we are already in it.)
• WW1 is convention in the sense that it was still soldiers against soldiers. WW2 is total, civilians are included in the targets. WW3 as we have already seen is a war of AI against humans. Drones, although still operated by game enthusiasts, can evolve easily into purely AI devices. AI has no moral considerations. The drone operators see humans virtually and may even enjoy firing at the victims. There have been videos of them killing surrendering soldiers. Even civilians in one video in Gaza. Firing nuclear weapons might be AI operated, as humans are too slow to make decisions. Humans will be only virtual to the war machines, if not already are.
• The overall picture is one of extreme cruelty unmatched in history. Moral codes, Genova conventions will be totally discarded. Indeed, it is already so on the Gaza and Ukraine battlefields. When one side does not observe any rules, the other side will eventually and certainly retaliate in the same way. Brutal and needless killings will be rampant. Cruelty is very obvious in Gaza and in Ukraine, where men are sent to die needlessly. Both can be consider genocides.
• The seeds of hatred and distrust had already been sown at the turn of the century by 911. After 911 anyone could be a terrorist, as ‘confirmed’ by excessive security checks. Then covid with its distancing and quarantines, separates humans further. Anyone can be a carrier of a deadly virus. People have become fearful. Propaganda and media also play a big role in fermenting hatred and fear. Media silence in extremely evil acts allows evil and its brutality to continue as if it is part of war.
• Use of all kinds of WMD. I read that nuclear weapons are ranked only 4th in strategic importance. The first three are media propaganda, biochemical weapons and weather weapons. It is hard to believe the 4th one is the ultimate weapon. The first one is already used effectively. Before the use of nuclear weapons it is highly likely that the other two weapons will be used secretly and rampantly. These weapons are better at mass killing. They also fit better in depopulation because famines will follow even when the war ends. Rebuilding is also much harder if the earth is hit by these weapons. (Is that the reason Elon Musk has the bizarre wisdom to resettle to Mars when the earth is too contaminated and the few people left can be transported easily?)
