Miss-identified object ISS vs UAP

Wow...what a night. Captured in Gen 3 Night vision first and changed over to HI8 Nightshot mode for that close in observation. Tomorrow will work on the edit and upload to the youtube channel. This one is unlike anything seen before. But you will be able to discern after observing the footage for yourselves. It lasted over a minute before going behind a Ponderosa Pine. Before the capture there was activity spotted in the night sky. Just as in many of the past encounters there were a series of bright flashes. Prior to this evening the events were flat lined and nothing unusual was observed so the lack of activity helped form a baseline or reference point. Tonight was much different. Anyways stay tuned for the footage.

Mojo. the night vision shows something large and slow moving , definitely unknown . The next part is confusing to me. Is that a camera affectation or some lens effect, or what was actually there? How come no stars etc? What did you see with the naked eye

Hi Doug,
The nightshot which is the second part rarely captures stars unless they are very bright, so the night vision gives a clue to it's position with a star reference background. When first looking at the object as a small dim point of light that caught my attention, I was amazed that it appeared to get very bright. That is about the time the Gen 3 was recording. The second time seeing it with the naked eye was almost overhead and it had that aura around it but only when zooming in could any detail be made. The flashes prior to the display made this more unusual to me. There were a series of different ones above me some flashed fast 3 times in a row others flashed out in one place and also in other locations . They were not in any direct line of flight though but above in different sporadic spots.

I know you know your stuff, did you check for any knowns, ISS etc in your area at time ?

According to the Space Station map the ISS was visible at 37 degrees over my local and this appeared to be higher in the sky. Although it was over that night it was not seen the very next night.

I can't discount the possibility that I misidentified the object so I am asking the mods to close this thread.

Hi all, I should have used more due diligence on checking with satellite apps first. If there is ever a possibility to miss-identifying with a more earthly explanation it's always best to ere on the side of natural origins ie Occam's Razor at work. Although I am pretty sure about the more intriguing flashes received that night which over many hours in the past of skywatching were related to similar type of contact in the past. Anyway I was pretty excited about getting back under the night sky and hopefully in the future something interesting will make an appearance. Cheers
