Anyone ever tried a bovine colostrum supplement? If ya have can ya share a bit about your results?
I keep seeing ads for the Armra brand, and the more I read about it the more intrigued I get. On top of that I get a nice light feeling when I read and think about this stuff. That's usually a good indicator.
Colostrum is a dairy superfood produced by all mammals in the first 48-72 hours after giving birth. Armra is merely a powdered version of it.
Lots of good info here for anyone who's interested:

With light humor Mike , I've seen even human colostrum supplement in specialised pharmacies 10 years ago , was never tempted to try.
But I think it does taste a bit like baby formula. Lucky for my dear mum I was one of those babies who were breastfed till almost one year of age whence after I gave up on mum and preferred soups. And I did not drink or like milk products a lot as a toddler. It all started to make me yucky.
It's recommended for people who genuinely can not digest other types of human food such as leukemia patients and post radiation treatments/exposure patients, those who suffered burn injuries and so forth.
For sure it has to have "aftertaste" and one could feel at odds with themselves about it if eating any other "normal food"
while in itself, of course, it would not be able to sustain you through out the day.
Too many diary products almost inevitably result in indigestion and later may cause lactose intolerance.
Many babies wean off their mom's milk because the amount of fats and proteins makes them uneasy at some point.
Puts you back to native state

I think taking Colostrum is a good idea and I have taken it in the past, but it was in liquid form and I wouldn't take it in powdered form. For the simple reason that colostrum, in its natural state, is not powdered! I'm aways for the natural state of things, just like it was intended by Mother Nature. Makes sense, yes?
Of course that leaves you with the problem that it's hard to come by the natural raw liquid form, unless you know of a farmer who will let you have it. Or a woman who won't mind to share her human colostrum with you. Actually, I'm half serious. For that matter I'm also advocating that people should drink human mother's milk (surplus milk). But that's a whole different story and not always doable.
There's a couple of good suppliers, from Switzerland, and I believe it is this one that I took. https://bestvital.de/en/produkt/bestvital-bio-colostrum-fluessig/
But even there they neeed to filtrate it (so they say) so even though it's organic it's not 100 % the original product.
Also make sure that it's from the first couple of hours after birthing which the above product is. There's some suppliers out there that omit this information as to when they take the colostrum. I know you are aware Mike of the differences in quality when it comes to products in the supplement market and guess what, Colostrum is no exception! ;)
As a matter of fact, there's also a supplier that makes sure that the colostrum is from cows that still have their horns and not have them cut off. Which apparently makes a huge difference. (That goes for the output of milk too btw) Here's a page on that, see the horns section:
https://www.swissbiocolostrum.com/en/manufacture/organic-colostrum?srsltid=AfmBOoqrNTWLfpYpIy17IvyVHOF_7rJOwv8w_DwPxB5L2BMB6iybU4qu
Unfortunately the colostrum from such cows is a lot more expensive (as you can gather from that site). However, anyone who's been serious in dealing with good quality supplements will always find that quality has its price. Personally I don't blame the manufacturers or distributors of that but the system that we live in. If everything was just left and processed in a natural/organic state there wouldn't be an differences in price. What kind of messed up system do we live in where the natural organic (food) costs more than the industrialized version? It's crazy and upsetting.
When I took the colostrum, it felt pretty good to me and I really didn't mind the taste. I can't say that I had any noticeable effects, but I definitely didn't experience anything negative either. I remember that I was actually craving more. Let's face it, it's just not a whole lot for the price, not something you can take in high enough amounts for a longer period of time (unless you make some really good money!). But hey, that applies to some other good supplements too, doesn't it.
So yeah, I wish I could have stayed with the product a bit longer. Overall, I believe it was like 3 or 4 months that I took it (in the recommended dosage - but like I said that never felt satisfying to me).
I was curious about trying the powdered form too because I'm not ruling out that it may have some benefits too. But to me it would be like the poor version of it.
Hope this helps, Mike.
p.s.. I just remember that I think it made my stool a bit harder. Which also happens to me when I consume too much dairy. So make sure that you up your magnesium a little bit (though I'm not sure this is actually a calcium/magnesium issue because colostrum is quite different from milk) and also your dietary fiber. (Then again, bodies are different so I don't know if you would really need to do this.)
