By default, I have covered my smartphone** front camera with 3 layers of 1 square centimeter duct tape, that is probably why I can no longer update my "Google Play" Store!

John, if you have travelled out of the Eurozone during last decade you would have probably figured out that non-biometric passports were functionally and practically outlawed about 10 years ago and replaced with "biometric passports" that contain chip with your "biometric data" that involve your finger prints AND iris scan.

I am sure the law was adopted more than 10 years ago in the EU and the UK , thus everyone who had to get new passport had no choice than this.

Secondly, how does your computer usage differ from smartphone usage , in levels of danger to your health and integrity, in your opinion.

I completely do agree that prolonged exposure to electronics and screens ( for your eyes) is dangerous to health and mental stability for many reasons,
and these dangers should not be underestimated and should be talked about.
Likewise safety and technical improvement of all devices currently in use, should be developers first priority ,

the world public who they're intended for and sold to call for simplification instead crafty-dirty business tricks selling us in many cases either

capable technologies with restrictions that can be lifted against price

or worse, intentionally incapable technologies.

Of course, no need to say it all is about "business".
Read, someone's bigger money.

So unless we -humanly- get out of the ideology that "money runs the world" and stop laughing at what we see, with creepy sarcastic faces of teenagers who "can't sort it" and have "no rights" because they don't know their rights fully,
because they did not read the books of law,
because they did not finish their education etc.,

the situation won't change dramatically because there's no "better business" than the one that stops your will and soul from growing.

Is someone going to "take pity on the sensitive populace"( namely children, women, variously indisposed people, war veterans, seniors , leaves about 20% space for "military units, supersoldiers and "I can take it all's" and fix the overgrowing problem to our favor?

Following the "business logic" running all levels of programmable human mindsets of today,
it's not going to happen any soon:

I have a perhaps dumb question because I have not owned a cellphone for 15 or more years by choice. If you cover the camera - which is your right since they are not paying you to share your images - does it also block the sound?

And, rather than block these things, can't we come up with an app that when asked for images and sounds plays random children's fairy tales on a continuous loop, at highest volume, just to mess with them?

You can use a simple "physical hack" (a trick) use the microphone input of the smartphone, buy only the 3.5mm TRRS to TRS male microphone plug with a very short wire and connect the + & - to make a "short-circuit" ... the system automatically uses the "manual" mic and record "absolutely nothing!" ... But when the phone rings, you need to pull the male plug out, of course!

ps. super fascinating how Google A.I. does NOT give an honest answer (sharing the best practical search results) when typing something SUPER OBVIOUS:

I had a chinese Huawei for couple of years . It was quite impossible to use it if you blocked the camera in front ,even if accidentally blocked it with hand . Phone would show an text that sayd unblock the camera and until you removed whatever was blocking it then the text would remain on screen and you cant do nothing with it ...

My passport must be renovate every 10 years , last time (9years ago) they took my fingerprints(with some electronic devise) which appear on the first page and from my new ID too...

New was that taken from photos at that place! (Embassy) with some special camera where it was clear the focus at my eyes... (they made 3 times exposure...)

I don't know about a chip inside, but that were no surprise too...

If we don't know some digital savvy "underground forces",well,only stoicism may help, nobody come alive from here and we are the Revelations Generation (Apocalypses Generation if you prefer that term...) and after that we are still in danger to be "recycle" and again and again...the never end story until we learn to master that too!

That future is unfortunately well and here and attempting to stop it at this point is about as hopeful as trying to stop the sun from rising tomorrow. As a recent example. in August I traveled overseas with family and due to connecting flights, etc. had to go through 5 different international airports.

At each one they had biometric scanners; fingerprint and face scanners, which you could opt out of, and I and the family of course did (much to the annoyance of the TSA in US airports).

But it was all for nothing, as once you're past security and on your way to baggage claim, at 3 of the airports a sign would greet you halfway down the long corridor announcing that facial recognition technology is actively in use and anyone walking in there is liable to be logged.

So even if you turned around and waited for the next flight back home, it's too late.

While waiting in security, I watched each and every single person before me. Not a single one chose to opt out at the 3 kiosks I could keep and eye on. With all the airports together, that was several hundred people I got to personally witness do this.

The best thing now is to learn self-reliance, and how to (legally :Angel:) sabotage or confuse these technologies while we still can.

I have a friend who lives in Belgium and every time he travels to Croatia, he must travel by train, even though it takes him 3 days... He could be there in 2 hours by plane but it's a principle.
In this way, he thinks he is bypassing the massive biometric and other controls.
He does not own a smartphone only the old type of mobile phone. He is the only person I know who managed to travel (by train) without a mask or any certificate of testing and vaccination for the entire time of covid. He's my hero.

But there are fewer and fewer people who think like that, who are ready to fight for the idea of freedom. Especially the new generations who were born into this technocracy.

It reminded me of another event, not related to this topic, but important for understanding the drastic changes and lack of reaction in younger people -> we recently introduced a fiber optic cable to the house and for that need a 20-something technician came to connect the router and everything. When I asked him to leave the Wifi turned off because we will connect everything in the house with a cable, he looked at me confused and asked - how will you have internet then?

The conclusion - Totalitarian Tiptoe made for the younger generations impossible to understand that the Internet can also be connected with a cable only and of course what about other topics that are obscured and presented as normal (necessity of vaccination, biometrics, normalization of transgenderism...) - the future looks increasingly scary :worried:

Supposedly the smartphones also record different habits of a person like for example where a person usually keeps the phone ,for how long and most interesting one - persons walking pattern. Lets say you always keep the phone in same pocket when walking then the accelerometer and gyroscope will easily record your usual walking pattern by how much the phone tilts in one way or other etc . Everybody walk a bit differently so it is like a fingerprint.
So once it is recorded in some database and you get new phone and try to be as incognito with it as possible then they could still figure out who is using the phone by matching up the walking pattern from database...
