43 monkeys escape South Carolina research facility; police warn residents to secure doors and windows
November 7, 2024 / 10:27 AM EST

"Authorities in South Carolina have warned residents to lock their doors and windows after more than 40 monkeys escaped from a research facility Wednesday night.

The primates broke loose from a Alpha Genesis facility in Beaufort County and traps have been set up and thermal imaging cameras are being used in an effort to locate the fugitive monkeys, the Yemassee Police Department said in a statement.

In an update posted Thursday, police confirmed 43 rhesus macaque primates escaped and none had been captured as of mid-morning.

"Residents are strongly advised to keep doors and windows secured to prevent these animals from entering homes," police said earlier. "If you spot any of the escaped animals, please contact 911 immediately and refrain from approaching them."

"According to its website, Alpha Genesis breeds monkeys and provides "nonhuman primate products and bio-research services" across the globe. The company's clinical trials reportedly include research on progressive brain disorders."

I didn't even realize this place existed in South Carolina. I am finding they were awarded funding and contracts for mrna and covid research early on, too.

Here's a history of monkeys escaping and violations by Alpha Genesis.

Their facility (https://www.google.com/maps/place/Alpha+Genesis+Primate+Research+Center/@32.6814403,-80.8406129,142m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m6!3m5!1s0x88fbff17727c8645:0xaa5fd2934e26838d!8m2!3d32.6813687!4d-80.8406675!16s%2Fg%2F1thzvnbb?entry=ttu&g_ep=EgoyMDI0MTAyOS4wIKXMDSoASAFQAw%3D%3D) at 95 Castle Hall Rd, Yemassee, South Carolina.

Alpha Genesis also runs another center for housing monkeys on Morgan Island, just off the coast of South Carolina.

Overall, it houses more than 5,000 monkeys at any given time which are used in clinical research.

In June 2018, Alpha Genesis was fined $12,000 by the federal government over six violations — four of which involved animals escaping from the facility.

The first occasion was in 2014, when 26 monkeys escaped and were on the loose for 48 hours. Just a week later a single monkey escaped and was never found.

Two more monkeys escaped six months later and then one died from internal injuries that occurred after it was shot with a dart during its recapture.

And in 2016, another monkey escaped because its cage was secured with a clip rather than a lock.

There were also two other violations, including one monkey being placed in the wrong social group, leading to it being attacked and suffering from fatal internal injuries, and an incident where at least six monkeys suffered from severe dehydration.

Hope none of those monkeys are carrying any experimental mrna thingy or bio disease type weapon, and that none of those monkeys get bitten by a tick or something, and that those ticks don't pick up any odd bio contaminant akin to lymes or alpha-gal stuff or ebola etc. etc. etc.

Nah - that sounds like a conspiracy theory or something...
Right?

The monkeys need not be infected with anything, they only need for people to believe whatever crazy new idea they want us to believe.

Immediately brought to mind the movie 28 days which started off with a break-in to a facility where monkeys were being experimented on with a toxic drug - cages were opened, monkeys ran amok and started attacking and biting everyone and this was followed shortly after with a zombie apocalypse.

I have an amusing lightweight story that's VERY mildly connected.

Quite a long time, ago, when I still lived in the UK, my partner Liz and I had spent a few weeks in Kenya where on our very last afternoon there Liz was bitten by a monkey in one of the National Parks. (It was a momma monkey, and Liz had got a little too close to its babies, never a very good idea.)

Because we were due to fly home the next morning, we decided NOT to go to the Kenyan medics, but to wait till we were back in England to check she was okay. There, Liz went straight to the Emergency Room at a large hospital and announced she'd been bitten by an angry monkey in Kenya.

The entire National Health Service went into overdrive, because no-one had records, in England, of anyone having been bitten by a wild African monkey before. They gathered together all the Tropical Disease specialists and a whole bunch of other experts, clustering round Liz with immense interest.

After a multitude of tests, she was told she was 100% fine. (Which I think we already knew!) But what was fun to see was the huge emergency meltdown she triggered because in England being bitten by an African monkey was such an unknown event. :)

Internet Movie Data Base has 136 (https://www.imdb.com/list/ls092127186/) virus movies listed. The oldest one on the list is the 1964 movie The Last Man on Earth starring Vincent Price. In the 1971 movie the Andromeda Strain there's a scene (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jkidzp1mlW4) of them working with monkeys in a biolab. There's probably an equation TPTB and/or the Entrainment Industry use to amplify the imbuement quotient on the viewers. Considering the number of virus and zombies movies put out over the years the events would have a high probability of transpiring. Apparently, they'll use the most popular and highest paid actors for this. Will Smith received $25 million for his role in I Am Legend. Brad Pitt got $10.4 million for World War Z and co-starred in 12 Monkeys. Matt Damon took a reduced salary for Contagion. Kate Winslet character died in that movie, and she co-starred in Titanic which was an event that removed the opposition to the Federal Reserve. The Happening (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Happening_(2008_film)) was unique because it was a neurotoxin that triggered suicide. Stephen King's book The Stand was published in 1978 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Stand) and I suspect the idea for the work and later TV mini-series was supplanted in him.

Another escape recently - this time 21 "highly aggressive" lab monkeys escaped in Mississippi during transport from Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana. This happened on the 28th, with reports at that time that these monkeys were carrying a variety of infectious viruses. I think they recanted that part somewhat today, and last I read they had hunt down and destroyed most of them but 3 are still on the loose.
