Whether you favor deportation or you are against the expulsion of illegal immigrants it is going to be one of the cornerstones and most controversial policies during Trump's second term. Democrats, Republicans, Progressives and the media are going to demonize Trump over his deportation policy. As we move further into Trump's second term we can expect a fairly significant international reaction. Immigration stories will no doubt become very emotional and a dedicated thread on this topic might help us sort out fact from fiction.

I don't get it: If trump is insistent on sending people back to Mexico but then wants to make Canada and Mexico additional US states, won't the inhabitants all become American and thus the deportation will be a waste of time and money to send them back?

Trump's first job was made much harder because of the damage done by Biden and his "controllers". May have made him
more determined to do what he had already intended to do.

He has a tough road ahead of him. More so than any other President in recent history.

I am hoping for his success!

I believe that by continuing his policy, linked with uncertainties, he will be unable to reach the outcome that he desires. I believe he should announce, very clearly, that he will be deporting those charged with crimes. And that the rest will be given a choice of accepting citizenship, along with all that entails, or being deported. He will then arrive at new workers, which will calm down employers, arrive at new military "volunteers" and sooth all feathers at the same time. Combined with closed borders to ensure no further influx this should do it.

As far as Mexico and Canada are concerned, I'm fairly sure that these are just feelers. He is a deal maker. So he puts out the worst possible option for Mexico and Canada, in the eyes of the politicians there at least, and then they "settle" for something much less but equally to the advantage of Trump and the US.

Were I him, I would have done the above first and then tackled tariffs - it seems as if he is trying too much, too soon. But that's just my less than humble opinion.

Of course, this is just the start of Trump's deportation plans and other countries may not be as accepting as Columbia. Tariffs have been placed on Canada, Mexico and China which are tied to both immigration and fentanyl coming across the border.

It will be interesting to see how the short-term and the long-term effects of these tariffs play out.

Colombia’s President Gustavo Petro buckles under Trump’s trade war threat — offers presidential plane for deportation flights

Colombian President Gustavo Petro quickly reversed course about accepting flights of deported migrants from the US after President Trump threatened emergency tariffs of up to 50% on the South American country for refusing to cooperate.

Petro not only acquiesced to Trump’s demands, he even offered up the official Colombian presidential plane to help shuttle migrants back to the country, calling it a response to “the Government’s commitment to guarantee decent conditions.”

“The Government of Colombia, under the direction of President Gustavo Petro, has arranged the presidential plane to facilitate the dignified return of the compatriots who were going to arrive in the country today in the morning, coming from deportation flights,” a translated official statement read in part.

President Trump vowed to launch a trade war with Colombia and impose an “emergency 25% tariff” on Sunday after the South American country turned back two US military deportation flights.

In response, the Trump administration announced it will not impose sanctions and tariffs so long as Colombia follows through with its part of the deal, according to a statement from the White House press secretary late Sunday.

The visa sanctions issued by the State Department and enhanced inspections from Customs and Border Protection, however, will remain in effect “until the first planeload of Colombian deportees is successfully returned.”

“Today’s events make clear to the world that America is respected again,” the press secretary added.

Tarifs on Canada are tied excusively in Trump’s unilateral decision of starting a war with Canada on the premises that he will put Canada on its knees to then absorb it for its limitless natural resources, while saying that USA needs nothing from Canada.

Only 1% of fentanil entering the US comes from Canada. Same for illegals. Trump is lying through his teeth. . And he wants to make physical war with Denmark to get Groenland.

Waging war to Canada!!! US has fallen on its head.

You are being lied to, front, back and sideways. Biden was senile - wonder who managed the country for 4 years - Trump wants war with about everyone, he ends up being a stupid megalomaniac surrounded by its Silicon Valley billionnaires oligarchs.

Please, tell me what is the difference between Trump waging war to Canada to put that country on its knees, while stealing Groenland, surrounded by oligarchs, an Putin doing the same with Crimea and Ukraine surrounded by oligarchs. I don’t see a difference.

As for the imbalance in commerce, the only reason Canadians sell more to the US than theybuy from it is because US buys Canadian petroleum at a cheap price in quantity. Without the petroleum there would be zero imbalance.

The US president turns out to be a psycho dictator waging war without congress approval, through his only signature. You do not have a democracy anylonger and the world has taken notice. No democracy, dictatoship behavior, no respect for previous commercial agreements, the world has taken notice.

In the not so long term USA will lose big. I had hoped it would be better but within one week Trump has shown his true colors. He will destroy your country. And ensure transhumanism implementation thanks to his billionnaires oligarch gang. This is why he was allowed to become president.

Wake up Americans!

This story is the direct result of Trump's deportation efforts. Nobody likes change, not even some of the most ruthless and dangerous cartels on the planet. The only constant I can see in the Trump presidency is change.

Mexican cartels targeting Border Patrol agents with kamikaze drones, explosives amid Trump crackdown

he warning comes as the Trump administration continues to enact tough border security measures and targets illegal immigrants for deportation

Mexican drug cartels are ordering their members to target U.S. Border Patrol agents with kamikaze drones and other explosives amid a crackdown at the southern border by the Trump administration.

An internal memo titled "Officer Safety Alert" cited social media posts and other sources for the warning to federal agents, the New York Post reported. Agents were reminded to be "cognizant of their surroundings" and should be wearing their ballistic armor and utilizing their long firearms.

"On February 1, 2025, the El Paso Sector Intelligence and Operations Center (EPT-IOC) received information advising that Mexican cartel leaders have authorized the deployment of drones equipped with explosives to be used against US Border Patrol agents and US military personnel currently working along the border with Mexico," the memo, obtained by the newspaper, states.

"It is recommended that all US Border Patrol agents and DoD personnel working along the border report any sighting of drones to their respective leadership staff and the EPT-IOC," it said.

Fox News Digital has reached out to the U.S. Border Patrol, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

News Nation, which first reported the memo, reported TikTok posts and other social media sites used by Mexican drug cartels have also advised illegal immigrants to spit and urinate on ICE agents and defecate in their vehicles.

Other posts have urged assassins to target border personnel.

There is a lot of truth in your statements, at least from the surface level; however look at the state of play here, we do not have an ethical world, it is ruled and directed by psychopathic and ruthless people, we cannot fight this by claiming virtue, or benignly pointing to the "should do's" : we know the global game is essentially evil, where wealth and power determine the outcomes, Trump is not, and will not be an Angel, he recognizes the dirty game and is prepared to fight as dirty as the mobsters who move the chess pieces. We are not going to defeat this globalist order by playing Good Guy, plus what was the alternative, what were the options available to folks? Reality is a ruthless mistress.

You are partly right, when getting the devil out, you do not go with half measures. But you are wrong about the means and the guy himself, and more wrong regarding US vs Canada. Our economies are quite integrated. You kill one, you badly damage the other. With agreements, the main one he himself negotiated, works when with partners. About everythig he said about cCanada is false. That high level of lying is just plainly counter productive with a partner.

Every educated European saw it, every educated and not educated Canadian saw it. We understood that he started a war to get our country. We do not want to be Americans, we do not want their political system, their social system or lack of, their violence and to have to pay for every wars based on lies they have started (from Vietnam to Irak to now the Middle East).

Within a week he turned a friendly partner into a resentful one. This was worthless. It has always been easy enough to negotiate with us. What is the use? Pushing us to create other partnerships? Real Putin attitude, that of a megalomaniac tyrant. With holigarch billionnaires gang all named on political positions, do you still really believe hebis on the white hat side?

I am truly sorry for Americans, mostly after today when he openly says he will clean Gaza, finish the job, he just triggered those who want to harm America. This is without taking into account the real war with Mexican cartel (needed I believe, but lets put the energy where itcounts).

He will try to strangle Canada through his negotiations with China, you will see. But Chinese negotiate on 100 years basis, soon or later American people will pay.

And I am sorry for us Canadians, who did not elect him but will have to take the hit of this erratic authoritarian behavior.
