View Full Version : "Siddhis": Special Abilities in the Awakening Human

These abilities are normally and naturally going along with your spiritual development. They are called “Siddhis” and are regarded as obstacles during your strive to enlightenment.
They are obstacles because they can tempt the disciple to use them for her/his own benefit or perceived benefit for others. As this motivation is rooted in a limited judgement, these abilities can give rise to notions of increased EGO, fulfilment of desires (Lust, Greed etc.) and karmic involvement into the lives of others.
EGO: Imagine you can manipulate you common human around, you can boast and impress with these abilities. Imagine yourself during an important business negotiation: You will know the thoughts, intentions and hidden agendas of your business opponents, which will give you a huge leverage over them. Common folks will be no match for you, as hinted by Charles. Often you will see the real intend behind the façade and it can fill you with contempt.
That will (most likely) result in elitism and recklessness and if combined with social success: Off you go, to become a small 33….
LUST: Imagine you can watch your favourite girl/boy, whatever remotely under the shower or can influence a relationship with you.
GREED: Imagine you can influence horses on a racetrack or you foresee numbers in a casino…

The Siddhis appear naturally, if already a certain spiritual level has been achieved. At that point the aspirant has a (small) chance to overcome them and go ahead. Most fail at that point and are dragged back, even so more powerful, into the worldly realm, which is called Samsara.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samsara

A fully enlightened being can use the Siddhis for the benefit of others without karmic repercussions.

These abilities can also be activated through special exercises, intake of real ORMES or as Charles said, through a device. The problem is, that you now have these abilities while your personality has not grown accordingly. Thus the personal dangers of using these abilities have now become extreme.

What many people see here as a boon, can turn into a curse:
Imagine yourself in a fully stacked subway and a dispute brakes out about who will occupy the last vacant seat. If you are highly telepathic, then your brain can become “minced” by the emotions around you. The result: You might become less social and will look for more sensitive and stable people.
Automatically you will detach yourself from the “normal” community and will become elitistic.
If you are not in control of yourself, then you will go so deep into the rabbit hole that you will be stuck there for many generations…

Here something more about the Siddhis:

.

I am starting this thread because its an intersting topic that came up in the "Charles and His Abilities" thread that I personally feel could use more discussion.

I value this contribution in understanding from ancient texts. And certainly I feel there is a balancing point or acceptance of boundaries with which how one uses and explores these abilities, as they awaken, as one awakens.

However I am always very cautious about deploying knowledge from ancient texts in the present for this reason: they are insights from a DEAD world. As such, they have value to help us see what WAS, but they may or may not be useful in recognizing how to proceed NOW. I personally am interested in the NOW, and am doing enormous work to continually deprogramme all the 'past' cords that serve primarily as limitation for my existence in the present.

In addition, there is something of this understanding, that one's growing special abilities are NOT to be used, that smells an awful lot like a patriarchal rat to me. I am 'trying' to be gentle, but I've put up with a lot of that in my life and also my awakening, so please do excuse if I come off brash. I'm working on my presentation still... as I said, 'trying', not yet 'doing'. We know what Yoda says about that....

IME, taking intuition as an example of a 'special ability', it took years for me to overcome the standard anti-woman programming that tells young girls not to listen to the voice within themselves. All manner of misfortune befell me until I was given some sage advise, began to listen to myself, and took my special ability of inner voice to heart. I know for certain had I NOT done this, I would not be here today typing these words.

Clearly, humanity is making the crux move(s) on the big climb, right now, as we speak. If this is the case, is it really wise to shun these gifts? Is it possible that in that ancient world, it was best to shun them because we weren't ready, the timing wasn't right? Was that the message of wise forebearance? But now, in our LIVING WORLD, is it really advisable to act on measures devised in what is now a DEAD WORLD? If we don't deploy our special abilities now, refine them, understand their limits and our own, learn responsible boundaries, are we returning a most precious gift intended to be opened in these times, even when we need it most?

A thoughtful discussion on these matters would be most helpful, and appreciated.

Much Love, A Padouan (Jedi-in-Training)

It’s easy to misuse anything. That’s surely no reason not to develop your potentials, responsibly.

Actually, only some of the ancient meditation or spiritual traditions regarded focusing on the development of your psychic abilities as dangerous or a distraction, and even then, only for individuals who had not achieved enlightenment yet. Other traditions regarded their development as highly useful to assist in the growth of your awareness. For instance, if you develop telepathic abilities, surely that gives you more insight into what might be going on in your own mind as well?

Abilities is potential in every human !
They can be traps from the spiritual path also !
Yes often they can be activated before the human is fully developed !

And create problems to as they can be scary !

Best is to just develop one self and not get trapped in different scills !

They can be trained later !

"Whatever the embodied jiva puts its mind, its heart, into; whatsoever ideal, whatsoever object of desire, it dwells upon, single-mindedly, whole-heartedly, whether by love, or by hate, or by fear-it puts on the form of, it becomes, that same ideal or object. The world-procession is mind; purify the mind therefore with all thy might; for the man becomes what he has in mind; especially when leaving the body at its death. The man is his wish his aspiration" -Gita

In the words of western poets,
"Whatsoever thou lovest, that become thou must, God if thou love God, dust if thou love dust?
"Evil is the thought that thinks it, Good the thought that makes it so.
Light and Darkness, Sin and Pureness,
Likewise out of thinking grow.
Dwell in thought upon the Grandest,
And the Grandest you shall be.
Fix your thought upon the Highest,
And the Highest you shall be."

The mind verily creates and is, the world.

natural side effect of healing is the reemergence of natural latent abilities inherent to the divine being that has found an expression in the physical form ( takes a breath after that mouthful)

...healing of the illusion of separation

the great value of siddhis in this modern age is that it shakes up the mind of the rigid materialist. When a undeniable visible manifestation of phenomena is witnessed by a non believer, it forces them to change their world view accordingly or to simply go into denial and start to rationalize & justify what they saw. I suppose the same thing happens when a non believer unmistakeably sees a UFO. Many people at that point just choose to give it no validation in their own mind, as it's too scary for them to change their world view.

Krishnamurti definitely cautioned against them as distractions but he had a lot of experience about people misusing them. He was explicit in their existence but not as to their value.

I see them as existing, as having value, as requiring great wisdom, and being great temptations.

How they are expressed and how they are feared. Right now Dick Cheney is on an artificial heart and therefore has no heart beat. The blood is just propelled through his arteries. We no longer listen but we all have the sense of the flow of our blood to the beat of our heart. Imagine what living without that feels.

Then he knows that he has available the best medicine and the surgeons in the world. He can get a heart transplant by the snap of his decision. But even though his guys are the greats--you know he has read all the literature. His question: would you trust the universe to let you live through this operation? He might live for years this way but going no where everything comes to him from the net. Or he could once again have his freedom.

He has been asking this question for months now. Does he trust the Siddhis of his medicine men to overcome the death prayers he has created throughout the universe reflected back upon him?

It is my temptation not to allow the universe to unfold but to pray for that reflection. I have settled for the fact; he lives daily with the process of making the decision.

We have a chance to do even greater things which is why the distractions are at an all time high. Old knowledge can be used to create new and improved knowledge. We are experiencing prime time to manifest this.....

Shiddhis are a gift and an obstacle.
They are a natural development of spiritual work.
They are not be be confused with the work of Black Operatives work.
There is a massive difference between a gift from God and something that is acquired through human training.

Spiritual evolution is lie going up a stair with there being landings that are places where you are tempted to rest,
the problem being that one can get to comfortable and fail to make the rest of the journey.

The Siddhis can be quite spectacular, energy flowing out of the body to heal, sometimes this can be asked for and directed and this ok as long as one does not fall into the ego trap of thinking "I am the great healer I am doing this."
Everything one does is a function but not what one is.
So the wave of the Divine Ocean that wants to be The Ocean resists all egoic temptation.

Shiddis also manifest as clairaudience, telepathy, clairvoyance (the real deal) remote viewing and other things to, a very attractive parcel.
A seeker may be given one several or all of these gifts.
They tend to happen concordant with Kundalini awakening.

I suspect the gifts are given to encourage the devotee, its like saying yes you are making progress, enjoy these a while then move on.
When all is said and done Enlightenment is the removal of all bondage and the Shidis are a very real temptation to the ego which binds one to the wheel of karma and reincarnation.
Bashi has nailed it well.

Its a very interesting subject thanks for starting it Aretemesia

Speaking of these operatives and their powers ... close to the start of all this Charles stuff, I had some kind of operative come and check me out. It was very invasive but I can either have no patience in the world or enough - That kind of stuff [psy in-your-face] doesn't piss me off that much. But so eventually it got to the point where I was so uncomfortable with the "examination" that I had to turn around and look into his being in order to defend myself. So I sought out his weakness. And I said to him, and I spoke it straight to his body:

"What you really want to be doing and what this, your job, is making you do, are in conflict. They are not the same thing. You don't really want to be doing this."

And I as I spoke it, his body recognised it as truth and he got sad and moved off. He came back a few hours later and apologised. genuinely. but came back the next day and still continued with his examination, because, I am assuming, it was his job and he has to pay his bills. Just like me.

And the moral of the story is: Who knows?
