From Chris Hedges' latest on X

The Trump administration’s war with the deep state is not a purgative.

It is not about freeing us from the tyranny of intelligence agencies, militarized police, the largest prison system in the world, predatory corporations or the end of mass surveillance.

It will not restore the rule of law to hold the powerful and the wealthy accountable. It will not slash the bloated and unaccountable spending— some $1 trillion dollars — by the Pentagon.

All revolutionary movements, on the left or the right, dismantle the old bureaucratic structures. The fascists in Germany and the Bolsheviks in the Soviet Union, once they seized power, aggressively purged the civil service.

They see in these structures, correctly, an enemy that would stymie their absolute grip on power. It is a coup d'état by inches. Now we get our own."

This is pretty much a repeat of what the same people said during Trump 45. I don't think it is as bad this time around. From 2015 until today we have all heard the same rhetoric, over and over and over. Trump has been called every disparaging irreverent noxious, indecent and revolting name in the book. Trump supporters have been called deplorable (fairly nice by today's standard), Nazis, insurrectionist, Fascist, cult members, too stupid to understand the truth about Trump and one of my personal favorites by the President of the United States himself............... Garbage.

I remain in a constant state of amazement that Trump supporters haven't burned down hard left-wing political activist homes, which includes virtually all the mainstream media. The amount of self-control by Trump supporters borders on the mystical. I have renewed respect and admiration for Trump pulling off a historical win in 2024 but I have an even grandeur reverence for all of Trump's supporters who stayed the course and persevered. I am in absolute awe that they shined a bright beam right through the media's daily web of lies. The media was profecient spinning enough truths in with their dispicable lies that one would think it would be hard to sort our fact for fiction. Trump supporters have developed truthing skills and truth meters better than any humans on the planet and we know its time to get the boots out of the mudroom when the BS starts rising,

I have held Donald in low regard since the 70s. He is only a few years older than I am, and I have voted third party usually, never for him.

That said, I am thrilled that he has finally been able to restore civil relations with Russia, and equally thrilled with the preliminary findings by DOGE. A glimmer of hope for the future.

Giving the BBC a $10 billion smack in the mouth might reset the teeth of ALL fake news.
