I wouldn't usually write such a click-bait title, or make a whole thread for a picture like this. "Anomalies" on the Martian surface can be interpreted many ways, and more often than not it's through the lens of paradolia (but definitely not always).

Occasionally, the rovers on Mars capture an oddity. This is one such example, taken by Curiosity in 2020. As far as I know, it has only just surfaced. It's highly compelling in my opinion -- if not the most compelling image I've seen from Mars, possibly since "the face".

In the image, a Tic-Tac shaped object can be seen hovering or flying over the Martian terrain. The size is difficult to determine, but it most definitely isn't a rock; it's smooth, symmetrical, and artificial, and due to the shadow it appears to be casting, it's suspended in the air.

Can be seen in the lower left.

Fascinating.

May I add this image.

A huge reflective disc was found in a Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO) photo on February 23, 2025 by Jean Ward and immediately posted on his YouTube channel. Later that same day, I used his coordinates to find the disc for myself using Google Earth Pro. I found the entire area blurred.

Jean estimates the reflective disc to be approximately 240 meters or 787 feet in diameter. That is between two and three football fields in diameter. Notice that the top edge of the disc reflects light and its bottom edge reflects the terrain around it.

It should be mentioned that Jean is an imaging and graphics specialist with academic degrees in both telecommunications and electronic commerce. He works as an information technology specialist at Telkom, South Africa’s leading telecommunications company. On his own time, he searches for Mars anomalies. He found the reflective disc in NASA’s MRO photo F02_036488_2211_XI_41N335W.

I am struggling to not see that as a bowl, with the inside deeper than the outside..

I remember when Gary McKinnon talked about the picture he saw of a strange smooth thing, when viewing proprietary image formats using RDP on a NASA computer, said something like (from memory) "I couldn't see any rivets on it", and explained that he was trying to make sense of what he was looking at, shortly before he was rumbled because he was using RDP to view the image, which (as Gary explained) was a particularly conspicuous way to take remote control of the NASA computer in order to view the proprietary images.

Sorry - this is nerd-word-soup to most people, but the point is: when I see this tic-tac, then what Gary said back then about "it didn't have any rivets" makes perfect sense... not only is it too smooth to be a rock, it doesn't look like your typical garden-variety human industrial construction. I'm not saying I think it's alien, because it might be off-world human construction, or terrestrial secret space program/MiLab. But then it might be alien. I don't see why I should be certain one way or the other. The only thing I feel I can be reasonably certain of is that it's not a rock, and it doesn't look like it's made of rivets.

Mysteries of Mars

Mars mystery (cont'd)

Huge 'reflective disk' discovered on mars

A recent analysis of a photograph captured by nasa's mars reconnaissance orbiter (mro) has revealed two intriguing anomalies on the martian surface.

The first image, labeled f02_036488_2211_xi_41n335w, was taken on may 9, 2014, and depicts a monitoring site in north arabia terra, a region east of deuteronilus colles. The anomaly was discovered by imaging specialist jean ward.

The object, described as a massive reflective disc, measures approximately 240 meters (787 feet) in diameter — comparable to two or three football fields.

The second anomaly, located nearby, resembles a large ring measuring roughly 120 meters in diameter.

While the nature of these objects remains unknown, theories range from natural formations, such as pools of frozen water ice, to more speculative possibilities like artificial structures or spacecraft.

The photograph analyzed here (f02_036488_2211_xi_41n335w) was acquired by nasa's mars reconnaissance orbiter on 2014-05-09t16:37:29.117 and is described as 'north arabia terra monitoring site.' here are featured two anomalies i discovered in this photograph located at a site east of deuteronilus colles in a region of mars called arabia terra. The first anomaly looks like a reflective disc that is embedded in the martian surface, it measure approximately 240 metres in diameter (could it be a pool of frozen water ice, hatch or craft?). The second anomaly resembles a large ring measuring approximately 120 metres in diameter. As always, until we get to see these anomalies up close and personal, i can only speculate as to what these objects might be.

Square?

NASA’s mars orbiter camera on the mars global surveyor satellite captured a photo of a mysterious square-shaped structure on the surface of the red planet that has planetary experts and the public baffled; the photo was taken in 2001 and rediscovered recently by an interested party perusing the files.

Here is a paper or article about it. Dunno if the author or the journal are legit. Found the link searching moc e1000462, from the tweet pic.

abstract

inspection of the mars orbiter camera image e1000462 reveals what
appears to be an artifact in the form of an almost perfect square with
sides about 3 km long. The author has enhanced e1000462 by means
of contrast modification, revealing new details.
Background of the discovery
nasa’s mars global surveyor was launched in november of 1996 and
orbited the planet from 1997 to 2006. Equipped with a high resolution
camera known as the mars orbiter camera, its mission was to map the
martian surface and identify potential landing sites for rovers.
The mars orbiter camera consisted of a narrow angle camera that
obtained high resolution grayscale images, and two low resolution
multicolor wide angle cameras. It operated for 4.8 years between
september 1997 and november 2006. During that period it took
97,097 high resolution grayscale images of the martian surface.
Image e1000462 is extraordinarily significant because it shows what
appears to be a massive artifact in the shape of an almost perfect
square that is partially buried by sand. The sides of the square are
about 3 km long. Two of the corners are well-defined right-angles.
The square appears to be the ruins of an ancient walled settlement
built by intelligent beings ~ aliens ~ perhaps millions of years ago.
The square contains smaller features that also appear to be ruins.
The link to the original image is given by googling: Moc e1000462.
The square is located at the top of the grayscale strip. The proposed
name of the formation is alien square.

Can’t seem to copy the other text blocks (2 short descriptions of images, and a more lengthy discussion section).

Text copy happened to work for me. Here's the more lengthy discussion from "the general science journal" article evidence of alien activity on mars (https://www.gsjournal.net/science-journals/essays-astrophysics/download/8873) that you provided:

discussion

It is inconceivable that the formation is of natural origin. Terrestrial
geological forces do not spontaneously produce massive walled squares.
Similar geological forces presumably occur on mars. It seems obvious
that the formation is an artifact created by intelligent beings, aliens,
who inhabited mars and possibly other planets in the distant past.
The question is whether the aliens evolved on mars or were space
travellers who arrived from other star systems and colonized mars.
If they colonized mars, they may have done so when it was warmer
and wetter than it is now. This raises the possibility that the square
is millions of years old.

Another question is whether the aliens also colonized earth and
if their descendents are here today in some form, or in a hidden
location, or whether they are connected to recent ufo sightings.
These are important questions. Recent advances in astronomy have
shown that there are billions of stars in our galaxy and that almost
all stars are surrounded by planets, many of which have liquid water.
It therefore seems likely that our galaxy contains other sentient beings.
The mars orbital camera generated 97,097 high resolution grayscale
images. The vast majority have never been closely examined. It is
predicted that close examination of the remaining images will reveal
massive artifacts similar to e1000462 on other parts of the planet.
This is a project that could easily be undertaken by members of the
public and amateur astronomers.

Nasa is currently using its rovers to look for signs of microbial life.
Although this is commendable, it is well within nasa’s capabilities to
land a rover directly into the square. If this is done, it is predicted that
exploration of the square will reveal other artifacts indicative of the size
and lifestyle of the aliens.

Man, the picture in OP really sells it for me. There is something there on Mars besides us.
