Iran president attends ECO Summit in Azerbaijan to boost regional ties

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian arrived in Azerbaijan to attend the 17th ECO Summit, held June 3–4 in Khankendi. Invited by President Ilham Aliyev, Pezeshkian is set to deliver a keynote speech and hold bilateral meetings with leaders including those of Turkiye, Pakistan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan. He emphasized Iran’s commitment to regional cooperation and stability, stating that stronger ties reduce foreign interference.

The summit, themed “New ECO Vision for a Sustainable and Climate Resilient Future,” gathers heads of state from across Central, South, and West Asia. As a founding member, Iran seeks to strengthen intra-regional economic and political collaboration through the ECO, which now includes ten member states.
