I went to bed @ 10ish. And I had a dream that startled me awake to the point that I gave myself a headache.

I dreamed that I was in my old home town waiting to board a train. It was snowing rather hard as it is right now. I was in a hurry because I was about a half block away from the train and I need to get there quickly but I was also being careful not to slip in the snow. As I was walking towards the train out of the corner of my left eye I saw something very shiny twinkling in the sky. As I focused on it I noticed that it was changing shapes and colors rather quickly as if it was communicating with me, but with shapes. It was telling me to get ready. It told me that I was dreaming and I needed to wake up because they were coming... So I woke up and opened my eyes. I was in my room and it wasn't completely dark yet, but I was still seeing those strange shapes in my left eye.
Like a computer changing the shapes that were some type of alphabet.
They told me to hurry telepathically. Then I heard them land in the back yard behind me. I turned to go out my bedroom door but I froze. I was so scared out of my mind because I knew they had gotten me. They just kept saying it was time....I was so scared I woke up. It was a dream within a dream.
It was the scariest dream I have had. I am not usually afraid when I have these dreams. This is like the second time I became afraid, I think.
I tried to wake my spouse...which usually he wakes right up whenever I need to tell him about a nightmare...but there was no waking him up. So I opted to write it down and went back to bed.

I have seen things that I can't explain or describe very well. I just don't know what to make of this. I look for similar stories online and I just don't find them.
Most people are consciously encountering them...I am wondering if I am just losing it because of my interest in all this or what? I just don't know and it's frustrating.

This is my first post--and I appreciate any insight! Thank you all in advance.

Fascinating! Now that is one thing I haven't experience - a dream within a dream. I also log my dreams - especially the 'heavy' ones. I'll mull it over and see if I can come up with anything to help you decipher it. Thanks for sharing.

Being a lucid dreamer and having extremely high dream recall, I've had similar experiences, but if you look at the repeating message of the whole situation, In my opinion it's spelled out for you just hard to interpret is all. Here's what jumped out at me "It was telling me to get ready. It told me that I was dreaming and I needed to wake up because they were coming." Hope this helps. It seems like you are subconciously or even your higher self is trying to tell you it's time to prepare, because the current state of the world which is an illusion is about to end and you should prepare yourself in that regard.

Namaste.

Keep in mind that a literal interpretation of a dream is almost always wrong. Further, there are some universal dream symbols, but these are only helpful if you apply them to your own context and experience (i.e an eagle may mean something to you that has zero relevance to me). Here's some basic stuff from a dream dictionary:

1) To dream that you are watching the snow fall, represents a clean start and a fresh, new perspective. It is indicative of spiritual peace and tranquility.
2) Having a dream within a dream may be safer and more acceptable way to express material from your unconscious. The dream within a dream protects you, the dreamer from waking up. Such dreams often reflect a hidden but crucial issue which you need to acknowledge and confront.
3) In particular, to see your childhood home, your hometown, or a home that you previously lived in, indicates possibly A) your own desires for building a family and/or B) your family ideologies. It (can) also reflect C) aspects of yourself that were prominent or developed during the time you lived in that home (or some occurrence in that place/time). You may experience some unfinished feelings that are being triggered by some waking situation. Alternatively, the dream may D) represent your outdated thinking.
4) Waiting for a train may denote 1) uncertainty or feeling out of control 2) (in this case) loading the old self, old ideas, beliefs or forgotten memories for passage to somewhere new. You dream seems to indicate some immediacy with the issue in question.
5) To dream that you slip on ice, symbolizes your insecurities and self-esteem issues. There may also be an obstacle ahead for you. In your case, you are attempting to avoid these pitfalls.
6) Something important is apparently contingent on you clearing the issue in question. You'll may have to dig deep to figure it out it sounds like... although it could be forecasting a catalyst that is right around the corner. Keep that in mind and you may recognize it if it happens.
7) Try some silent time, focusing on the most prominent memories of that part of your life (in the old hometown) then let those branch out. See what hits you. Look for anything that has emotional charge. Forgive self and other(s).

Hope that helps you.
