For most of my adult life, since the age of 16 lets say, i was a devout atheist.
then 6 months ago i read hermes, this especially..
http://www.gnosis.org/library/hermes2.html
Reading this, I felt the vibrations, you know, like when your "in the zone"
and it has changed me, my thoughts, completely, and more so with other stuff I read.

I just wonder, if something like this, or indeed other readers who follow the link, if it can change their whole perspective in a profound way as it did me.

Now after turning 34, having read this, I have been changed. I hope for the better too, and rather than get pi@@ed off why it took me so long, I am just glad I found it.

Nice move mate.... I congratulate you on trusting yourself to expand your horizons. Embrace the journey!

Sooner or later I predict you will see how fervent atheists and fundamentalist theists are two sides of the same coin.... the same state of mind with different labels on it... and have a darn good laugh... if you haven't already :)

Both represent mind running along pathways to "model" the universe.... the first locking everything within, the second abdicating everything without... it's the locked-in-ness that counts... and then these "opposames" defend that because to challenge it is to risk being unlocked

Because when we do that, when we level off the lid, as you clearly have experienced, we find that mind was only ever a model of how things really are, that this existence is much more than we ever thought possible, that mind is best in the role of servant than of master, and consciousness flows.... everywhere!

I trust these words are agreeable to you and I'd be happy to talk more

John

There are many ways to the creator. Finding the almighty within is a good start (or is that the end) clearly I am not quite there yet.

Yes, the gnostic writings are pretty friggin interesting.
Thank you for reminding me. If I remember correctly, they make a lot of sense when compared to buddhism and some other writings around the world.. most interesting.

What if one does not believe in "god", but believes in something, and yet is not agnostic? No need for defining anyone anyhow, just out of curiosity. Pagan? Nah... Just spiritual?
Just thinking aloud by typing things down. I just think atheism makes no sense. And I think blind faith is also kinda strange. As well as agnosticism, it's like giving up by saying "I don't know, let's stop trying".
Ok. Enough is enogh is enough.

If, on the pathway to enlightenment, you meet the buddha, kill him.

Firedragon, maybe there will be further steps for you beyond the believing mode?
perhaps remembering, inner knowing, BEing...
then sharing, articulating the unfathomable..what a challenge that can be!

Blessings to you
Barbara

And this is the punishment: that that man's soul who hath no child, shall be condemned unto a body with neither man's nor woman's nature, a thing accursed beneath the sun.
For another way to look at that, research for example leontocephaline figures, Mithraic mysteries and the way out of the endless wheel of death and reincarnation, the impassable ring.

Which one is right for us at the moment? That is in the nature of each one of us. We are not free but bound by our nature and the cosmic laws.

When grapes are ripe it is time for the harvest.

EDIT: Just to provide some context, Hermes Trismegistus (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hermes_Trismegistus). There is much out there to be researched.

I haven't a clue, I'm not enlightened.

But, what I think it means is that the real Buddha is dead and so, if you meet him along the road to enlightenment it means that it's not the real buddha, but an imposter and you should kill him because he's up to no good.

Joking!!!!!!

It means there will be no buddha to meet. Having experienced enlightenment one will be the buddha/enlightened. It will not be something seperate from oneself. Therefore, if you meet the buddha on the way, you're not there yet - don't stop keep going.(kill the buddha)
