Turkey’s disaster ministry says seven aftershocks over magnitude 3.0 have struck following a 6.1-magnitude earthquake in Balıkesir.

The quake was felt in several provinces as rescue teams were deployed under the national disaster plan.

A 6.1-magnitude earthquake struck Turkey’s Balikesir province, felt in Istanbul. Local mayor says 10+ buildings have collapsed, with rescue efforts under way.

Some villages remain unreachable due to network outages.

A 6.1-magnitude earthquake struck the Sındırgı district of Balıkesir province on 10 August 2025 at 7:53pm local time, according to the country’s disaster ministry, AFAD.

The tremor was also reported in Manisa, İzmir, Uşak, and Bursa.

🇹🇷 A 6.1-magnitude earthquake struck Türkiye’s western Balıkesir province.

In Balıkesir city, a residential building completely collapsed, with tremors felt in Bursa, Yalova, and Istanbul.

Preliminary reports say there are injured, and rescue crews are clearing the rubble. Local media report that about ten private homes were partially destroyed in one district.
