I didnt know about this iron pole when i were in Dehli, doh i would love to have seen it, its amazing in the sense that its just there right out in the open, not hidden away in a museum or fenced off in an enclosure, you can just walk by it, and its been around for atleast 1600 yrs or More, according to Praveen.

Who ever the Metallurgists were back then knew their stuff, just like a million other craftsmen and artisans and architects, they were so more advanced than the gate keepers will admit.

Interesting claim. I wonder, is this artifact indeed that historical, meaning are there records of it back as far as claimed based on the inscription?

Vid gives no references, so I am not on board with the claims. I do recall learning about this thing in the past year or two tho.

Yes, there is a great likelihood the Iron Pillar of Delhi (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iron_pillar_of_Delhi) was constructed in the 400s.


India was the master of the Iron Age:

Wootz Steel (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wootz_steel) originated in the mid-1st millennium BC in India, wootz steel was made in Golconda in Telangana, Karnataka, Tamilnadu and Sri Lanka. The steel was exported as cakes of steely iron that came to be known as "wootz".


By around the 1200s, it is known as "Damascus Steel", and around 1790, west Europe receives samples. They barely begin imitating it in the 1900s.

It is not that iron and steel were not available other places, possibly in greater volume, but this was always considered the best in the world.
