Fentanyl has destroyed thousands of lives, creating a heavy financial burden for society, created homelessness, wrecked families and caused untold misery.

I am not a death penalty advocate under any circumstances, but I understand why some people would call for such a severe punishment.

This AI-generated information

China, Iran, North Korea, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, and Vietnam are confirmed to have carried out executions for drug-related offenses, according to the most recent global overview by Harm Reduction International (2024). Iran and China are the largest executioners for drug offenses, with Iran responsible for 79% of known drug-related executions in 2024.

Iran: Executed 485 individuals for drug offenses in 2024, the highest number globally.
China: Ranks first worldwide in the number of executions related to drug trafficking, though exact figures are not publicly disclosed due to opacity.
Saudi Arabia: Saw a 6,000% increase in drug-related executions in 2024, with 122 people executed—its highest ever recorded.
Singapore: Executed eight individuals for drug trafficking between August and November 2024 alone.
Vietnam: Executions for drug offenses are highly likely but not confirmed due to censorship.
North Korea: Executions for drug offenses are believed to occur but cannot be verified due to extreme secrecy.
Other nations with the death penalty for drug trafficking in law include Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei, Bangladesh, United Arab Emirates, and India (under specific conditions), though executions are rare or unconfirmed. The Philippines and Mexico carry out extrajudicial executions of suspected drug offenders despite not having a formal death penalty for drug crimes.

Is it time to start executing fentanyl drug dealers?

We (Canada), and many other countries or parts of countries (US states), don’t execute anyone for any crime. Paul Bernardo is still getting housed and fed and medical care.

Am wondering why you created this thread. Not saying don’t appreciate it, I do. I figure you to have a story you want to tell, or to speak about and hear feedback.

I knew a vibrant and cheerful young man (I’m mid 60’s, he died ~10 years ago in his mid 30’s), who had spent some time in prison. I would never have guessed that, but a mutual friend filled me in. Didn’t say what for, but said that fellow got along great in his imprisonment. Declined his statuary 2/3 served release, so he didn’t have to adhere to conditions after. Said he made alcohol in there, which made him valued, but I believe his good cheer must have been more valued. Just remembered his name, been trying, Ricky.

Ricky had told me that his camp in the river valley (Edmonton) had been destroyed in a city push to clean things up. Then he got a job at my regular beer store, we spoke more often, and I thought he was getting squared away. Thought he had a room.

Turns out he was still camping out, my friend said he was sleeping on a pile of pallets stacked against the back outside wall of his workplace.

I don’t know, but I suspect that he died from an overdose of something. That was in winter.

Whatever your exposure to this sort of harm, thinking family or friends lost, may peace be your way.

I don't want to sound like "them". But you would also have to take down heads of pharmaceutical companies "under ice" and every doctor in the country who mindlessly prescribed psychoactive medication to adult or a child just because they are suffering from headache, belly ache or fearing exams or because whatever else,
getting people hooked to the giant brain chemistry industry , some for lifetime,
for many of them it's a way of continuous addiction and replacement of medications
with the next and better generations of them,
with no "life on their own" ( that is without pills),

like a global cult .

There "light never shines" , their happiness does not come, there is no way out of their suffering.

Hour of "therapy" consumes their income . The increasing "state of unwell" eventually consumes the rest.

Truly , if human culture can not forsake experimental psychopharmacology in medical practice as last ends resort we are now dealing with whole big drugged human culture of addiction and abuse people are eventually forced to sort by their own means.

Anyone who has ever touched the medical field knows what talking about.

It truly is and always will be important to regain our mental and physical strength without addiction to drugs ..and supplements and things that resemble drig addiction such as alcohol or sugar .

Rewrite the medical books in favor of ethical and aesthetical medicine. Return people closer to understanding themselves, knowing selves better , closer to nature and understanding life on this planet that is full of Miracles instead distancing them from themselves forever .

Modern technically advanced society often offers model of "abstract life" that looks perfect yet is empty on within. Their "perfect model " is still very human including versions of perfect deaths.

Everybody else trapped in the modern medical system is on their elimination plan too..

The times will change I believe, better version of human society will come and people will once yet rewrite their books , this time with greater wisdom.

The problem is out of control, and the energy of frustration is at crazy level, elevating feelings towards blood-lust; the ultimate control, kill them then everyone else selling fentanyl quakes at the possibility it will happen to them! I don't know what the solution is except it would be nice if: 1) fentanyl abuse was addressed effectively by the powers that be, and: 2) fentanyl production wasn't so supported and promoted by the pharmaceutical industry and the FDA in exactly the same way that Ivermectin isn't.

I would be against the death penalty in any circumstance, ( I will come to my justification for such a statement shortly ), believing it to be an easy way out rather than a life time of punishment.

But then, some people take to incarcerated life like a walk in the park - so should we perhaps have killed them? How about insanity?

I imagine, but don't know, countries who have the death penalty for drug smuggling have far less cases then those that don't.

But then, the guilty party may genuinely not be aware they are carrying drugs - or worse be under the threat of death to loved ones if they don't carry a package. Damned either way in that last scenario.

Is it true that the CIA have routinely been involved in bringing drugs into the US, firstly from Latin America and more recently Afghanistan. Could have all started from Vietnam. Many believe this to be true and it could well be, given the corruption we understand to exist it is at least plausible.

If you are knowingly carrying/distributing drugs for profit that you know well might kill end users then that at least is clear, isn't it? We can kill them! How do we determine the motive, the awareness of the guilty and have 100% confidence we are correct.

And that is why I personally could never vote for another's death. We simply cannot know all the facts, even in the most obvious cases there could be salient points we miss. We could never gather all the threads and weave a Bayeaux-like (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bayeux_Tapestry) tapestry that had total clarity.

I am a witness of something here... as you all are... what is happening lately with Trump to destroying, killing people in small ships in the name of "justice"... these are criminal acts.. not some sort of "justice" by US administration... yes, let's begin with CIA, DEA, FBI, MOSAD, MI6 etc.. and with friends of these agencies ... those are the snakes that stinks at the head...
