Hi all,
I'm new to this forum and wanted to get an idea of the opinion of members on what they think is an Extra Terrestrial.
I know it is a pretty basic question but when answered i can get a better idea of what you are all talking about when you refer to ET's on other threads.
I know an ET is a living being that is not from this earth but that is a very wide definition.

So is an ET:

1) a physical or non-physical being from another planet?

2) a physical or non-physical being from an alternate reality?

3) a physical or non-physical being from another demension?

4) anything i did not mention here.

If you reply please do so whith an explanation as to why you think that.

Hi Krull, welcome to enlightenment. Im new to this forum too, so bear with me!
This is my opinion. You've basically summed everything up with statements 1, 2 ,3, but with statement 4, perhaps you forgot to mention ojects ie: (meteors or ice paricles).

Extraterrestrial life (from the Latin words: extra ("beyond", or "not of") and‎ terrestris ("of or belonging to Earth")) is defined as life that does not originate from Earth. Possible forms of extraterrestrial life range from simple bacteria-like organisms to sapient beings far more advanced than humans. It is unknown whether any such forms of life exist or ever existed.
My answer would be choices 1,2 +3. But are options 2 + 3 the same? where does an alternative Reality differ from another dimension? where's Stephen Hawking when you need him? Good question Krullenjongen. You got me thinking

Thanks for the complete definition Circe!
I have left out bacteria-like beings because that would probably not fit in most of the discussions on this forum.

The difference between an alternate reality and a demension is in my viewpoint this.
An alternate reality would fit the multyverse theory where you have an infiite number of universes "next to" each other and everywhere it is different because different choices were made. (kind of hard to explain, lookup the multiverse theory please)
A different demension in my view is for example a demension that exists outside the realm of our time, time may not exist there, but they can move in and out of our time realm. Or a demension that has more demensions that our height, width, depth and time.

This is a good thread that highlights how outmoded the term "extraterrestrial" has become. ET is defined by the origin of the lifeform. If it can be proved that we originated from Mars or some other planet, does that make humans ETs too?

Maybe it's time to cast around for a new term that is inclusive rather than exclusive, as ET has become. ET is applied to anything that hasn't obviously evolved (or been created) here, just as "colored skin" epithets have been applied to anyone with a non-white (yellow/black/brown) skin. What about those aliens who are said to be indistinguishable from humans? What about humans who may have been born on a base on the Moon or Mars (not much else to do there)? Are they ETs? On the other hand, "Greys" and "reptilians" are inclusive terms that describe their members. What bothers me is that right now I can't think of a better term than ET with which to group all our alien brothers.

depends whether the perspective is from the body of the spirit which inhabits it

This does not make me any wiser.
I had hoped for a different and more personal answer from everyone.

The reason i started this topic is because in the big picture Charles painted we (humans) are "created" by ET's.
And i was wondering, are people thinking about grey's or reptilians or about people/creatrures from other demensions or realities???

Anyone?
