View Full Version : Take some time to stare at the sun with me!

Hello everyone!

I have been putting this off for months, but somehow joining this forum (among other things) prompted me to go on with this little project.

I have for some time now collected the publicly avaliable SOHO image data that you can get from sohowww.nascom.nasa.gov and compiled them into videos, yearly compilations. I'm considering adding monthly compilations as time goes on if there appears to be any interest in the videos.

The SOHO satellite has a number of instruments and have been orbiting the sun since 1996, so it has transmitted quite a few images over the years.

If you want to check it out you can do that on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/user/ErnestErnst). Note that I am currently in the process of editing and uploading the videos so they won't all be avaliable just yet.

I hope this material is appropriate for this forum, I myself find it very plesant to listen to some music and look at these types of videos at times.

Regards,
Ernest

Also, of course, there's some interesting stuff in parts of the videos. Still not sure what they are.

I was reading the guidelines and found that there are pretty hard selfpromotion restrictions in place, for good reason. Then I got to feeling that this thread is pretty much that, selfpromotion. However since this thread was moved, and not deleted, I will take it as a hint that some might find the link useful. Please do let me know if I'm doing things the wrong way.

Ernest

Ernest,

Go ahead. Post the videos- I would love to see them. Of course, please do not stare at THE sun, you'll get cataracts!

*chuckles*

Yes, of course, don't do that, but staring at images of the sun is something I very much would encurage. ^_^

I really had no intentions to post videos here, there's to many really and they're all just raw data without encuraging word or inspirational music. All I want to do is let people know where the videos are if they would like to watch them. Still uploading videos and will continue to do so throughout the weekend I reckon.
