I'm interested in signs and symbols of change related to a pattern of synchronicities I have been following related to 2012. The Mayan calendar side of 2012 is very well documented, if not common knowledge for those who are interested in this sort of thing. What I have uncovered, however, puts a real mind-twist to this event in terms of its awakening potential. And, moreover, it does it from an archetype made flesh or Logos-type perspective, creating what I believe to be a new rebirth foundational mythology. What is most peculiar about this narrative, however, is its relationship to a particular geographic location, namely the state of Ohio. My best understanding or explanation as to why this is the case has to do with what in quantum mechanics is called a strong attractor pattern. But, as I will try and illustrate, the way in which this strong attractor pattern creates patterns of synchronicities out of archetypal symbols related to historical singularities, anomalies and other bizarre forms of cultural brand logos linked to Ohio is truly unfathomable, if not borderline miraculous. The multicontextual result or complexity of this hermenuetical analysis is thus the proof of the synchronicity. If this doesn't make any sense, don't worry. You don't need to understand how it works in order to follow along. All you need to do is pay attention and keep in mind every fact I will be detailing deals with the state of Ohio in some major fashion as a point source of origin related to this idea of bringing into existence a new foundational mythology for the evolving New Age.

The most obvious synchronistic point of origin for this 2012 rebirth narrative is Columbus, Ohio's 2012 BI-centennial celebration. Now this fact is either highly random and coincidental or it is serendipitous of some larger pattern that connects. But, as people familiar with how this whole 2012 phenomenon is evolving know, nothing in this universe is random. So let us begin to unravel the mystery behind what the universe is trying to tell us concerning Ohio and Columbus' 2012 Bi-centennial.

First, this is a BI-centennial event, meaning it's the 200-year anniversary of the city's birth. In terms of repeating cycles of time, we can think of this 200-year event as the city's RE-birth, with the prefixes 're' and 'bi' both relating to the number two (and to the number 200 by extension). The number two is important because it alludes to the brothers Enki and Enlil (of the Ancient Astronaut Theory of Creation), to the year Y2K we just passed and to the idea of a RE-turn or RE- resurrection, prevalent in the rebirth cosmologies of both the Mayans and Christianity, and alluding to the characters of Quatzequatel and Christ respectively. Thus, in terms of legitimizing and defining any New Age rebirth foundational mythology, the figures of Quatzequatel and Christ must be adequately identified. Luckily one doesn’t need to go digging very deep to find such references connected to Ohio.

The Christ element is more or less hidden in the name CHRIST-opher Columbus, the person after whom the city of Columbus was named. Simple enough, right? But this Christ theme runs much deeper than that. I would imagine most people are familiar with the biblical story of Lazarus, the man Jesus resurrected from the dead. But if you are from Columbus, the name Lazarus would be associated with the Lazarus department store, a downtown hallmark for over 150 years. The Lazarus department store only recently closed its doors after having been bought out by Macy’s (the connection here being CHRIST-mas and the movie Miracle on 34th Street). After several years of RE-nnovation, in 2007 the old Lazarus building RE-opened its doors, RE-surrecting as it were as the nations largest ‘green’ government office building.

As if that RE-birth symbolism wasn’t straightforward enough, we can add to this (CHRIST-opher) Columbus-Lazarus RE-surrection theme yet another couple layers of serendipity, context and archetypal veritas. For 2007 also marked the year the Columbus-based Ohio State University, the nation’s largest land grant university, saw the RE-turn of its beloved president “Flash” E. Gordon Gee (voted Time Magazine’s 2009 most powerful college president). What makes this RE-turn all the more sign-ificant is the fact that when Gee (think of the Masonic “G) resigned from OSU back in 1997, he left to take over as president of Brown University, located in PROVIDENCE, Rhode Island. Hermeneutically speaking, the term ‘providence’ is defined as the divine Will of God. How appropriate then that the city named Providence is now referred to as the “Renaissance City.” It received this title after it underwent a ten-year RE-construction project to RE-vitalize its entire downtown canal district (spurred on in large part by the expansion of the Rhode Island School of Design, were I went to school).

All this ties back into Columbus eventually through a man named Barnaby Evans (and by association to the Columbus-based Bob Evans restaurant chain and to the movie Evans Almighty, a modern-day retelling of the story of Noah’s Ark, starring Steve Carell, who went to college at Ohio’s Dennison University). Although Barnaby Evans attended Brown University as a student of biology back in the 1970s, he has since come to prominence as an artist. His notoriety reached a zenith with a 1995 installation piece he created for the city of PROVIDENCE called Water-Fire, which the city of PROVIDENCE incorporated into the opening celebration of its new downtown canal district. This installation consisted of large numbers of bonfires set ablaze atop their watery pyres, such that the fire seemed to “float upon the face of the waters” (to borrow a quote from Genesis).

In 2005, two years before the Lazarus RE-opening and two years before Gee’s return from Brown back to Columbus and OSU (and after a short stint as president of Vanderbuilt University), Columbus hired Evans to do a Water-Fire Columbus installation. This synchronicity becomes a profound symbol when one takes into account the alchemical meaning of the water-fire installation. For the union of fire with water is the symbol of the alchemical wedding; the union of opposites represented by the marriage of the king and queen, or the sun and the moon, and symbolized by not only the Phoenix, the mythological bird of RE-birth, but also by the star tetrahedron, also known as the Star of David, the Seal of Solomon and the merkabah star.

This association of the marriage of the king and queen in relation to the birth of the CHRIST relative to the symbol of the water-fire is recapitulated in yet another famous Ohio-based historical anomaly: Cleveland’s 1969 Burning River incident that sparked Nixon to create the Environmental Protection Agency. Another more complex variation of this Father-Mother-Son or King-Queen-Christ scenario involves Ohio’s three largest cities, Cleveland, Columbus and Cincinnati, the so-called “3-Cs” (creating a Tri-unity and metaphorically related to the triple Father, Son and Holy Spirit Logos). As was previously mentioned, the CHRIST element can be found in Columbus’ namesake, CHRIST-opher Columbus. The fact that Columbus is home to a full-scale replica of CRIST-opher Columbus’ ship the SANTA Maria only reinforces this reference, since a boat, as a vessel for delivering people from one place to another, can be thought of as a symbol for baptism (as in RE-birth) and by extension related to the idea of a birth canal. Water has always been associated with the womb of creation.

Ohio’s unofficial mother, however, is none other than Cincinnati, Ohio, dubbed the “Queen of the Midwest” by poet Wadsworth Longfellow back in the 1800’s. Since that time Cincinnati has been referred to as “Queen City” Cincinnati. The Queen as mother archetype relates, of course, to Mother Nature and, by extension, to the original garden, the Garden of Eden. How appropriate then that the most famous park in Cincinnati is a place called Eden Park (home to their art museum and a telescope observatory!). With the Mother and Child archetypes identified with Cincinnati and Columbus respectively, that leaves only the last of Ohio’s “3-C” Tri-unity, Cleveland, needing to fill the shoes of the Father-King.

This feat is accomplished easily enough by the Cleveland-born and one-time Cleveland Cavalier basketball phenom, Lebron “King” James. Moreover, when“King” James entered the NBA as a rookie, NIKE branded him in their ad campaign as “The Second Coming,” referencing not only his “King” James title, which is a reference to the popular King James version of the Bible, but also to Lebron’s decision to wear the number 23 jersey, the same jersey number as Michael Jordan. Other famous kings from Ohio include boxing promoter Don King, the King of Cowboys Roy Rogers, the King of Popcorn Paul Newman, the King of Polka Frankie Yankovich, and the King of Kings (Elvis impersonator) Bob Lovelace. Two other kings worth mentioning would be the Kings Island Amusement Park, located in MASON, Ohio, since roller coasters and such relate symbolically to trains, chariots and to the merkabah solar vehicle, and Martin Luther King’s wife, Coretta Scott King, who attended Antioch College in Yellow Springs, Ohio.

The father archetype also has ties to Worthington, Ohio, a suburban municipality located just north of Columbus. This is incredibly sign-ificant for several reasons. First, Thomas Worthington is recognized as being the "Father of Ohio Statehood." Second, Thomas Worthington High School is where I went to school. Maggie GRACE from the TV series Lost also grew up in Worthington as did the musical group OAR (Of A REVOLUTION!). And third, the the word 'Worthington' connects up with actor Sam Worthington, who starred in such roles as Avatar, Clash of the TITANS and Terminator SALVATION. In fact, Worthington Industries even shows up in the X-men film, The Last Stand, which dealt with the topic of the Phoenix. Moreover, superwoman Storm in the X-men series, played by Halle Berry, was born in Cleveland, Ohio. This superhero context is meaningful when juxtaposed with the fact that the original comic book superhero, Superman, was the creation of Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, also from Cleveland, Ohio. Why the topic of Superman is of interest relates back to both Frederick Nietzche and Carl Jung, since for Nietzche the Superman (also referred to as the Overman) represented the highest tier of personal enlightenment; whereas for Jung this concept was identified as part of the individuation process, in which the individual consciousness finds itself in a continual state of RE-birth.

Getting back to Worthington, one more profound father archetype deals with the JOSEPH-inum Ponticical College located there. As it turns out the JOSEPH-inum is last remaining pontifical college still left in the United States. So here we have a parallel construction whereby the JOSEPH-inum is recognized as the 'father' of the Catholic priesthood, while the biblical figure JOSEPH is recognized as the biological 'father' of Jesus--and thus by extension CHRIST (much the same way Thomas Worthington is the father of Ohio statehood, the capitol of which, Columbus, is named after CHRIST-opher Columbus). And one final Ohio anomaly that ties back in with Jesus is the burning FOOT-ball Jesus that caught the national spotlight last year. You might recall this statue was struck by lightening. The symbol of lightening is very telling here since lightening is often used as a metaphor to represent an epiphany of some sort. Another symbol for this AHA! moment is the light bulb. And who is credited with inventing the light bulb? Thomas Edison, who was born in Milan, Ohio. The symbolic importance of this Prometheus-like archetype comes in the form of the Inventors Hall of Fame is of Fame, located in Akron, Ohio.
