Hello All,

As you may know, I have grumbled often in the past about the posting of youtube and other videos that lack subtitles. I have also bemoaned the fact that there are little or no transcripts of audio files as well.

I would like to ask the folks who run this place if they can please make the Avalon-based video/audio files accessible to HA/Deaf folks like me.

We have a right to know what's going on! One of the biggest problems with the internet is a lack of access to information that will help us to see the bigger picture.

I would really, really appreciate this and if it costs a bit to make these files accessible, I could help with that.

I know I can't be alone and there must be other folks out there with similar disabilities that want better access to the content of this site.

:yo: Yeah I have the same problem not completely death but hard to hear some videos. Does your computer give you access to use headphones? That's the only way I can be able to understand some low volumed videos, and even with that I have to focus alot to try and understand what's being said. Other than that there's alot out of info out there, but I can sympathize with you since their is some videos out there that is not in text and hard to find any research on if you can't hear or make out what is being said.

Headphones are not enough. Subtitles/captions are more useful.

Yup. This cow is deaf in one ear and can't hear too good out of the other.

I find that headphones (I got the cheaper one with just one ear ;)) plus a software equalizer to adjust the frequency response really help. I still have to give up on about 10% of videos.

Obviously, your mileage will vary, depending on how much hearing you have left.

Yes - transcripts of such things as Bill's interviews are much appreciated.

There is something they do with the microphones or sound on them is not so great. Perhaps it is low quality, nearly omnidirectional mics in small, hard walled rooms ... just a wild guess.
