Yeah,
We got several places like that in North Carolina here in the US.
They have roads, houses, and attractions in a few places.
Optical illusion with the geography of the land in comparison to the view, Its cool though.

It's called Magnetic Hill, Witchy - it's near Richmond - directions are here.

I posted this on the other thread as well. I think they are on top of the "not so secret" underground tunnel system that is runs with really strong magnets. It would be interesting to track one and see where it finishes - over the paddocks etc. I guess there is a magnet detector somewhere that could do this???????????

I have been out Windsor way (business trips)........ wonder if I can talk the lord and master into going for a bit of a sticky beak?????????????

I only know because we went there once and did the rolling thing :)
Interesting theory you have there in regard to underground tunnels - it would be fun to do some Nancy Drewing some dark night with compass and a Dan - or is it Ben? and a few friends for company).
I wondered if maybe it was something to do with leylines. Not that I know anything about leylines, except that they're some kind of energy grid lines (I think)

Witchy1, there is a road like this in Victoria near Mt Macedon, I thought that's where the video was filmed, but Teakai may be right about that one being in NSW.
It is considered an optical illusion about the slant of the road looking like it is going up but doesn't actually. A spirit level shows this.

Here's a road in Guatemala where water also "flows uphill".

Out of all the videos in this thread, the only one in which a spirit level was used confirmed that this was an optical illusion. Anyone know of an exception to this? No need to level with spirits. ;)
The longer the spirit level, the more accurate it will be. So for much less expense, much greater accuracy and safety (particularly where passing traffic is concerned), use a water tube level (http://www.diyinfo.org/wiki/How_To_Build_A_Simple_But_Effective_Water_Level) or a line level (http://www.fao.org/docrep/u3160e/u3160e0a.htm)! I've used both for years in landscaping and general garden work.
Time to call in Mythbusters.

Hangmans Hill, Epping Forest London-
It is said that if you turn the engine off your car a keep real quite the ghost of hangmans hill will push you up the hill there...
And it does!!!
Depending on what one has smoked, It can seem even more real!
As for the spirit level.... I think the bubble is being pushed up the hill too, thats the magic of those places!

Hangmans Hill, Epping Forest, London.
Just to be clear, Hangmans hill is down hill it just apears to be uphill.
But there are plenty of ghost stories from the area... This I cant discount.

I'd be up for this - I can dowse for ley-lines pretty reliably. I did a lot of that back in the UK.

this sort of thing has been debunked a few times before ... fact or faked paranormal files did an investigation on one of these ... it turns out its just an optical illusion that your looking uphill and down hill, with proper surveying equipment it actually show without doubt that it is a 100% optical illusion and that what your seeing as uphill is actually downhill
finally there!!!

Hi Everyone!!!
I came across this article here, I hope it helps some understanding why this phenomena happens!!!
Original article can be found here!!! (http://www.phys.ncku.edu.tw/mirrors/physicsfaq/General/roll-uphill.html)
I know a place where things seem to roll uphill. How does it work?
Sometimes you may find or hear of a mysterious place where objects can apparently roll uphill. This is a remarkably common illusion that is found in numerous locations around the world. Usually it is a stretch of road in a hilly area where the level horizon is obscured. Objects such as trees and walls that normally provide visual clues to the true vertical, may be leaning slightly. This creates an optical illusion making a slight downhill look like an uphill slope. Objects may appear to roll uphill. Sometimes rivers even seem to flow against gravity.
Spots where the illusion is especially powerful often become tourist attractions. Tour guides may like to claim that the effect is a mystery or that it is due to magnetic or gravitational anomalies or even that it is a paranormal phenomenon that science cannot explain. This is not true of course. Natural anomalies can only be detected with sensitive equipment and cannot account for these places but science can easily explain them as optical illusions.
There are several things that enable us to sense which way is up. The balance mechanism in our inner ears is one system we have, but visual clues are also important and can be overriding. If the horizon cannot be seen or is not level, then we may be fooled by objects that we expect to be vertical but that really are not. False perspective might also play a role. If a line of trees get larger or smaller with distance away, our sense of perspective is thrown off. Objects far away may seem smaller or larger than they really are.
People often overestimate the angle of a slope. If you are standing on a slope of 1 degrees it will seem like a slope of 5 degrees and if you stand on a slope of 5 degrees it may seem like you are on a slope of 30 degrees. Because of this effect the anti-gravity illusion can seem stronger than it should be even when you know the cause.
Even when the true cause is understood it can be difficult to believe. In some cases the sea horizon is partly visible and it seems incredible that the effect can be an illusion. If you think there is a magnetic anomaly just use two plumb lines, one made of iron and one of stone. They would hang at different angles if a strong magnetic field was acting horizontally. In fact magnetic anomalies are never that strong and are never the cause as is easily shown.
However, it is not always easy to demonstrate that a slope that appears to go uphill is really going downhill. Plumb lines and spirit levels cannot be relied on if you think there is a gravitational anomaly. If the slope runs parallel to a seaview it would be possible to compare a plumb line with the horizon. Otherwise the only reliable way of determining the true horizontal is by careful surveying. If a good topographical map of the area is available it may be sufficient to show which way the land is really sloping. The results will confirm the illusion. Gravitational anomalies are always very small. In any case, if there was a gravitational anomaly you should wonder how you would notice it. There would be an equal effect on your sense of balance as there is on any object. The anomaly would not be apparent unless there was a clear view of the sea behind the slope, which there never is.
A search on the web turned up a surprising number of examples of this illusion. Most are natural while others have been constructed in theme parks. Below is an incomplete list of the natural ones for those who want to visit. Many thanks to those who have sent more site details for this list. Do check locations are correct before making a long journey and remember that it may be dangerous or illegal to stop or reverse your car on slip roads and bends!

If you are indeed rolling downhill as it is an ''optical illusion'', then how come the vehicle remains at a constant speed?
If you were rolling downhill, you would speed up.
I have been on one hill and it remained at a constant speed.

Thanks, AlkaMyst, great article - everyone interested in this phenomenon should read it. @Lord Sidious, my explanation of constant speed is as follows. It might depend on two things, frictional forces and gradient. Minute decreases in gradient would decelerate, rather than accelerate, a car. Friction is a force acting opposite to gravity. If the two are nearly equal, the result is a constant velocity.
If one visualizes such a hill, eventually it would flatten out, slowing the car. One might need a more precise instrument than a speedometer to detect small changes in acceleration.

How's everything going for you?, I hope all is well.....I find this very fascinating and thank you for your response to the questions by Lord Sidious as I was wondering the same things myself!

I first want to point out that I'm not saying that the Fact or Faked show is completely trustworthy. Some have criticized the show for presenting inaccurate information, and I know they are trying to be entertaining and present things in an interesting way, but the explanation from the following clip makes sense to me in relation to what was happening in the particular area that they were studying. You can see in the video that the road looks like it slopes uphill, but surveyor equipment showed that it was a slight downhill slope:
