It shows great character to make an admission and apology. on the other hand we sometimes forget we do need to vent once in a while. :)

The fact that you had an outburst, and came back with a nice apology, just shows your an emotional guy. Keep expressing those feelings. :)

Hi Manny
I have got up in the morning, still not sober, and read what I wrote before I went to bed. I would have no recollection of writing it, and in general, although uninhibited, I never did any permanent damage (except to my liver).
That was a fair time ago.
But I've been down the black hole again since.
10 months dry now.
If you can't control it, it controls you.
I wish you strength. You already have wisdom.
..and grapes, apparently! :)

Boy, Charles, you sure have been cause for a lot of learning to many of us--me included! I'm a hot-blooded, passionate, Spaniard gal and have had the opportunity for remorse many a time, including times on this forum. I am sorry if I judged you wrongly at some point--it was part of the process, I guess, and it taught me a valuable lesson: things are never what they seem at first glance. You've had the patience of a Saint, whatever that means to you. Thank you.
Charles, BTW: what does it mean to "like people with grapes"?

Hi Manny,
Welcome back. Very couragous post. Good on ya!
Your frank admission got me thinking about myself and here's how I got round similar situations.
I hope this tip helps...(?)
A few years back I did some stand up comedy (don't ask for jokes I was a 'deadpan' type). After a few terrible first gigs I learnt the great secret of comedy. Which was everything would always work out ok ONLY as long as you were the soberest person in the room. The drunker the crowd the better in fact as to a room full of inebriates a completley sober comedian APPEARS to have razorsharp wit and intelligence (whereas in reality they have dumbed themselves down very very quickly).
I still use that for any public speaking (which I now include this forum).
Please don't think I'm comparing Avalon to a bunch of drunken comedy punters though.:p:

Hi Sunshine,
You made me laugh! Of course, not everyone would know what "grapes" means in this context. Grapes = balls (as in brass balls, or he's got a "set"); chutzpah, cajones, spirit, courage, bravery. It's male in its reference, but its fullest meaning goes beyond any sexual orientation. Show 'em if ya got 'em!
Love,
Lorraine

Hey Manny, welcome back! :)
Those we forgive return forgiveness. Those we attack, hold it against us. Moreover, if they do not hold it against us, we will think they do. There is no way to offer something positive or negative, without some form of return, positive or negative. To be guilt free is to know nothing can hurt us, and by refusing to allow someone to hurt us, we are refusing them the opportunity to think they can hurt us. When two parties do not hurt each other, they love each other, whether they know it or not.

Hi Manny,
welcome back, good outcome. I sometimes think that a forum at the sharp edge such as this, could perhaps have an area specifically to VENT, where a soul in torment can be heard, with nobody trying to fix it or lighten it, just hearing it. This work is mighty upsetting sometimes and does have an effect on mood. The whole process of awakening can be shocking & depressing, we can feel betrayed and frightened. Learning how to safely express feelings can be exhillerating and energising. Anyway manny way to go.
Love

PS Grapes? I just found out from this thread what 'grapes' means, didn't like to ask. My question is.. why grapes, why not plums?

Manny, you are learning the hard way. Never hit "submit" never hit "send" never hit "enter" when you have been drinking! Many of us have learned the hard way and it has cost dearly! If you persist in drinking, stay off the phone, stay off email.
This advice is only a fix that will stop you from hurting others but it does not fix the problem.
Your honesty about your drinking tells me that you can control this.
Send a personal message to me or Greybeard, I believe we can guide you!

It is my belief that many of us drink and tune out due to the old memories of betrayals of Atlantis and Lemuria without realizing where this great psychic pain is coming from ~ I've never met anyone who was exempt from it and I've had some experience as I am as old as dirt. So it is easy to see why we can do this. Once under the influence our pain can take negative and often humerous turns but it is not a reflection on that which we strike out at ~ it is a hammering we are doing to ourselves within our own hearts. Unfortunately when called upon our actions the good result comes in our desire for forgiveness. Most of us have done something like this in our lifetimes and possibly many times ; ) It is great when we can discuss these important things even if they feel like embarrassments (!) and move forward into the light of a new day and here, we are doing this together with some unity and purpose. Just take a gander at all the "Thank you's" you received below. End result is beneficial to all. Do I sound like a MOTHER? Geez. I apologize but it's what I am
Love you guys! Let's all give ourselves a fresh start just for fun and the hell of it ; ) xoxox

Alcohol is a neurotoxin. It stops you from accessing your higher consciousness.
You're probably right, Constance. And alcohol can be destructive on multiple levels depending on how it's used or abused.
Even so, you reminded me of the saying, "Alcohol is slow poison, but who's in a hurry?"
Some other quotations:
Always do sober what you said you'd do drunk. That will teach you to keep your mouth shut.
~Ernest Hemingway
When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading.
~Henny Youngman
Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy.
~Benjamin Franklin
I love to drink martinis. Two at the very most. Three I’m under the table. Four I’m under my host.
~Dorothy Parker
Alcohol is the anesthesia by which we endure the operation of life.
~George Bernard Shaw
I have a lot of respect for people who live life totally sober, and I'm not one of them (yet). Luckily I don't have a drinking problem. (I drink, I get drunk, I fall down--no problem! j/k) Seriously I'm grateful my body only lets me have a limited amount.
Welcome back, Manny!
