October, 2007: Bahrain is seeking nuclear power. In an address to parliament, the king praised the government in joining the IAEA, and sought to reap the benefits of nuclear energy. Bahrain has been in contact with the US, France, and Germany.

February, 2008: Bahrain was accused of purposefully fudging population numbers by a Shi'a member of parliament. The MP asserted that the government is concealing large numbers of Sunni's being naturalized.

July, 2008: Bahrain's king cracks down on Shi'a population. Increasing sectarian violence between Shi'a and police have forced the King to take matters into his own hands.
