Hi all

Was just catching up and reading about the mega solar flare that happened Monday and was wondering if anyone has yet created any form of protection for their beloved electronic devices..?

Discovering that the Monday event was the strongest solar flare (x2.2) in 4 years and that the sun is ramping up for more and maybe bigger ones, just got me wondering. I read that when this flare occured that its flash of radiation hit the earth in a matter of minutes but the cloud of charged particles would have taken 24 hours to reach earth.

Would a Faraday cage protect anything from this type of flare or is it only any good for emp type events. Would the fact that this triggered a geomagnetic storm in our planet's magnetic field cause any meltdown of electronic devices..?

Maybe now is the time to research all avenues of protection before another major flare happens.

Would a Faraday cage protect anything from this type of flare

If the effect of the flare is an emp pulse or ems stream, then a well constructed Faraday cage will protect what is inside the cage against electromagnetic radiation damage. Any other effect will not be affected by a Faraday cage.

Effects of solar flares on the earth.....


Atmospheres are affected by these energy flares. The introduction of short-wave and long-wave gamma and X-rays that are the product of solar flares can ionize the components of a planet's atmosphere leaving it less able to maintain an even enclosure around the planet in question. For earth, the atmosphere that wraps the planet is in a constant state defense against forces from within and out. Powerful solar flares can generate huge holes in the ionosphere, which can negatively affect people and equipment on earth.


Really big ones could effect power grids, satellite comms, cause increase in auroras. No heat involved.

I'm solar powered, with regard to complex mundane and psychic activity as a balanced combination. The particles flowing in and the energy levels are like a sort of nitrous boost for me. Probably for everyone else as well, on some level.

I was at a nutrition goods store yesterday. Picking up Vitamin K2 (the MK-4 variant-for the pineal gland). They said that everyone has been getting headaches all week and no one is sleeping. It's a nutrition store, they talk to their customers every day, so they are not saying (I slightly misquote them and read into their remarks) it is anomalous walk in customers, it is their regular customer base.
