Hi,
Check out Totnes. A small town near where I live in Devon, UK. They have started their own currency and maybe even a new way of life for the community.
Totnes is now being viewed as a 'model' for other towns to do the same throughout the world.
Worth a read:

Hope the attachment works.
Namaste.

Interesting experiment ~ thanks for the post.
While I feel that any form of money keeps us locked into a system that has many flaws; on the other hand, this could potentially be the break from the matrix. And it could evolve from there. This could be a baby step in the right direction.

I agree. It's not a perfect solution but it's a damn good start in the right direction.

What I like about things like this is the willingness to depart from the current paradigm and explore alternatives.
Now, even if that alternative isn't 100%, if it is better than the current paradigm, that is progress.
AND, it gets people to look into the topic more and get to grips with the basics.
How many people REALLY know what money is and isn't?
And where it comes from?
And what backs it?

We actually had this discussion in our last store meeting at work .
We use to rely on government contracts to get by .
We are slowly adding ways to barter and consignments when possible .
My dad use to say all that is important is how much it is worth to you .
What may be of value to you may not be to the next guy .
I like to think that includes the actual people that are involved .
We have been trying to help on a one on one basis .
If we can't afford to hire you but can put food on your table for a day then we can work something out .
Not sure what the future holds but the 2 other stores that are similar to ours ? 1 filed for bankruptcy 1 is for sale .
We are in the process of remodeling an plan on a re grand opening in May .
Like others we are experimenting with what we think the future holds an so far we are doing ok .
Might be slightly off topic but I think it is important to remember the old ways of doing things an maybe hang on to some of it while looking into the future .
Peace

That's awesome, not off topic at all. Barter system is good too.
I'm a healer, I was unsure of how to get paid because it didn't feel right to charge. So I've been thinking of charging 'food'. That way the taxman/government can't get at my money because it has bypassed them in the shape of food.
Adapt and change.

Yes this was set up some time ago but it is a model for other places.... Tried and tested, just a strong community and some local shop owners to take an initiative.
