It's horrible, I was there 4 days ago. We had been performing at the Christchurch Buskers Festival that is 10 days long and attracts millions of visitors. It's rips me inside to see the pitches I had just worked on in ruins. Especially the scenes of Cathedral Square.
Seriously I have always said that the people of Christchurch are some of the most nicest people I have ever met. They'll pull through this but after the last earthquake they'd had what would of felt like 1,000 after shocks. When I was there we had several a night sometimes. Seriously the initial light hearted jokes wore off quickly and thats what I noticed whilst I was there. It was almost like they were waiting for the next big one.

My thoughts are now with the people still trapped in office buildings.. I think this will be the final straw for a lot of people. They'll just want to get the hell out.

New Zealand definitely has had their fair share of earthquakes, the thing is though, after going to Stan Deyo's site and researching his work on an upcoming pole shift I do believe we are in for one.

Hi all. I'm about 300 km North of Christchurch. Far enough away for it not to have affected us at all.

This isn't a good one. People have lost lives. The true tally won't become clear for a few days yet.

We are getting a continuous flow of information, so if you have any questions, I'll help you out.

Please DO NOT PHONE if you have family here.

Emergency services have trouble communicating and right now, only a few hours after the quake, they need communications to set up and deploy.

It is 5:13pm now - I will be here for the next 6 hours.

2.36pm Julia Gillard says it's too early to say how many Australians were in Christchurch, but the national women's cricket team, which has been training there, are safe. "We've got no reports at this stage of Australian fatalities," she says.

2.29pm Christchurch's mayor has declared a state of emergency, saying it was a "black day" for the city.

2.22pm Australia has sent a search and rescue team to Christchurch. Prime Minister Julia Gillard has spoken directly with NZ Prime Minister John Key and Australia would provide any assistance requested. She told parliament the images from Christchurch were "truly shocking":

People wandering around with blood literally streaming across their heads and faces. Images of buildings that have been reduced to rubble...

2.17pm TV3 reports bodies have been seen coming out of a YHA hostel.

2.16pm A map pulled together by Paul Nicholls of the University of Canterbury's Digital Media Group in Christchurch shows the spreading intensity of the earthquake. A picture follows but you can see the full animation at the website.

My thoughts and prayers are with those who live in Christchurch and outlying areas. Please know that the Earth and all of us are under Divine Intervention. While there are serious changes Gaia is going through in order to ascend ~ mitigations are taking place to gentle these changes. Most of you know or have heard rumors of great cataclysmic events but the old radical pole shift that flipped the outer skin is not the kind we are experiencing. The old landmass of Atlantis in the East and Lemuria in the Pacific are rising up. The Earth struggles to regain her balance as these changes occur and we will have more land available ~ instead of mostly water, it will be 50-50 instead.

Know that we have many guardians watching over us and especially in areas of these great changes. This means we are all blessed. Whether we are able to ascend with Earth or not, even in transition ~ we go to the Fifth dimension and above immediately if we transition during the change and without further pain or suffering.

It is a time when each of us needs to stay intune with our own intuition and senses. We are being given special gifts and powers that we had to leave prior to coming to Earth to participate in this 3D duality experience. These are being returned as our remembrance of who we really are comes back to us. In fact, we are each Divine creators in our own right. Our Divinity has been restored to us ~ not that it was ever taken but we certainly had veils of Forgetfulness and couldn't remember this little tidbit. We also seem to have forgotten that we are INFINITE and can never die. It is a great misunderstanding that came from being isolated and in quarantine for 13 millions years and reincarnated over and over and over again. This phase is over, thank goodness and mercy. Nevertheless, we are able to ascend with Earth now and become physical angels.

So no matter what it may looik and feel like ~ even though it may appear that things are tragic and disheartening ~ it is a time that brings all things unto us. Soon we will have Heaven on Earth and the celebrations can begin in earnest. Be of good cheer ~ the most loving and kind Creator watches over us, as well as most of the universes and worlds; so many beings are here to witness these events and assist ~ we can hardly imagine ~ for Earth is a prize jewel in the Creation and is on her way to being the brightest star in the Center of the Milky Way Galaxy next to the new Central Sun and no one in the whole of creation wants to miss the show ; ) xoxox

I think this ties directly to the comet in our vicinity. It was expected by some. That's two in a couple of days. First was in Russia.

Can I say something here. I just received a thought form.

Your mother is suffering. Your mother will do everything in her power to protect
the precious life that she nurtures. She is under massive pressure and she is resisting for you.
Think of her and what she does for you. Give her your thoughts during this stressful time.

That's it.

bump

pole shift, more earthquakes in other areas besides NZ. In 2009 Melbourne had some shakes, I felt it and a friend of mine in LV who I was talking to at the time brought up the earthquake site and said yep your having a little one now.

More Big quakes everywhere, partly due to the pains that were playing with their toys but also due to the shift.

With many still trapped in collapsed buildings, this isn't going to be the final tally.

So we are in the midst of it as it plays out, war in the middle east, God knows where else, floods that haven't been known before wiping out food production, increase in earthquake activity and that is going to get worse.

Sorry to go off topic.

Out of city fire appliances, firefighting crews and Urban Search and Rescue personnel are on their way to Christchurch to support the civil defence emergency response.
The first wave of support includes several fire appliances from Dunedin and Invercargill with 20 firefighters and support staff.
A USAR (Urban Search and Rescue) team from New South Wales is also mobilising while Queensland and the United States have teams on standby.

Thanks Australia - your PM Julia Gillard visited a week ago and said we were brothers and sisters. When you had the floods, we turned up to help, when the Pike Mine disaster hit, you came to help us. I'm sorry to say, we need your help again.

Local power company Orion's Chief Executive Roger Sutton is hoping power will be restored to most places within the next two days. But he warns it could take one-two weeks for power to be reconnected to the worst hit areas. The company is warning people not to assume that power will stay on given the numerous aftershocks that are expected.

You can rattle our bones,

Christchurch quake: 10,000 homes 'cannot be rebuilt'

New Zealand's Prime Minister John Key has said 10,000 homes in Christchurch are lost forever and cannot be rebuilt after the 22 February earthquake.

from what i've come to understand and believe... the quake was caused by the continuing collision between the Pacific and Australian tectonic plates; Some have speculated it was caused by the harrp system?

Christchurch quake mapped from space
By Jonathan Amos Science correspondent, BBC News

http://news.bbcimg.co.uk/media/images/51556000/jpg/_51556333_christchurch626x500.jpg
The coloured bands, or fringes, represent movement towards or away from the spacecraft

he upheaval wrought by the 22 February earthquake in Christchurch, NZ, is illustrated in new radar imagery.

The Magnitude 6.3 tremor killed more than 160 people and shattered a city already reeling from a previous seismic event in September.

Data from the Japanese Alos spacecraft has been used to map the way the ground deformed during the most recent quake.

It shows clearly that the focus of the tremor was right under the city's south-eastern suburbs.

The type of image displayed on this page is known as a synthetic aperture radar interferogram.

It is made by combining a sequence of radar images acquired by an orbiting satellite "before" and "after" a quake.

The technique allows very precise measurements to be made of any ground motion that takes place between the image acquisitions.

The coloured bands, or fringes, represent movement towards or away from the spacecraft.

In this interferogram, the peak ground motion is almost 50cm of motion towards the satellite.

"It's like a contour map but it's showing to the south-east of Christchurch that the ground motion is towards Alos. That's uplift," explained Dr John Elliott from the Centre for the Observation and Modelling of Earthquakes and Tectonics (Comet) at Oxford University, UK.

"And then right under Christchurch, we see subsidence. That's partly due to liquefaction but it's mainly due to the way the Earth deforms when you snap it like an elastic band."

Where the rainbow fringes become most tightly spaced is where the fault break came closest to the surface, although the data indicates the fault is unlikely to have broken right through to the surface.

Blind danger

Liquefaction is a phenomenon that afflicts loose sediments in an earthquake and is akin to a lateral landslide.

It is a major issue for Christchurch because the city is built on an alluvial plain, and this type of ground will amplify any shaking during a tremor.

http://news.bbcimg.co.uk/media/images/51556000/jpg/_51556182_nzquakehires.jpg
BBC News reader Gillian Needham took this image of central Christchurch moments after the quake struck New Zealand's second city on 22 February

Scientists are using the Alos information to understand better the future seismic hazards in this part of New Zealand.

It has become obvious from recent events that Christchurch sits close to "blind" faulting - faulting that is at risk of rupture, but which betrays little evidence of its existence at the surface, meaning the potential danger it poses is not fully recognised.

"It means much more work needs to be done around Christchurch," said Dr Elliot.

"People knew they could get earthquakes further into the mountains [in the west of South Island]; that's how they've been built in some ways, through earthquakes and all the faulting.

"But to get an earthquake right under their city will have been a surprise to nearly every single person."

Liquid lurch

The interferogram is noticeably incomplete - there are several areas where the fringing is missing. There are a number of reasons for this.

To the east is ocean, and this technique does not work over water.

To the west, the issue is related to the satellite track and the fact that it views the Earth in strips. Hence, you get bands of data.

But the more interesting and more relevant omissions are in Christchurch itself.

Dr Elliot commented: "Here, the patches are the result of de-correlation between the acquisition images, where we just can't match them - they're too different.

"There are a few reasons for that. Usually it's the result of vegetation growth, but here it could be due to more extreme shaking or liquefaction."

http://news.bbcimg.co.uk/media/images/51369000/gif/_51369391_nz_fault_map464.gif
Tuesday's quake was less energetic but more destructive

Researchers are investigating the relationship between September's Magnitude 7.1 quake and last month's 6.3 event.

The latter is very much considered to be an aftershock from the former, even though they were separated by six months.

The September quake occurred about 40km to the west, rupturing a similar length of fault. The most recent tremor ruptured about 15km of fault.

What scientists need to know now is the nature of any "seismic gap" between the two; that is, a segment of fault which was not broken in either tremor but which may have been loaded with additional strain because of both those events.
