ARVADA, Colo. -- An 11-year-old Arvada boy was arrested and hauled away in handcuffs for drawing stick figures in school, something his therapist told him to do.

I know you homeschool your son and everytime I see stories like this you choice is validated. I often feel if I had homeschooled my daughter she would still be alive but everyone was so into she needs "socialization" which I should have replied you mean you what her to cut off more of who she is on a daily basis. My daughter read the Bell Jar at 11 and had a very strong sense that this was what everybody did. Cut off little pieces of themselves to fit in and then denied it hurt.

What really chaps me is that these stories are becoming more and more frequent. The one I have never gotten over happened last year in Pennsylvania. A middle school boy was called into the office and expelled from a public school for masturbating. The problem was that he was alone and in his own bedroom with his laptop on his desk. These laptops were school issued. The problem was that they had webcams and programs that the students were not informed existed. Then the supervising authorities had their own rules for what was acceptable behavior. They recorded this experience showed it to the boy and got him to confess!

This got big play on the political sites last year. This did go to trial and the school lost big time and for once a lot of heads rolled.
