I took excerpts of the article to; 1. in the event the article is taken down 2. to give others in the forum an idea what the article is about 3. to highlight what is happening in the world.
"...if the SHIELD (Securing Human Intelligence and Enforcing Lawful Dissemination) bill, introduced in both the Senate and the House of Representatives, becomes law. [S315 and HR703]".
"Under it, anyone who passes along any classified information “concerning the human intelligence activities of the United States” – even if it has already been leaked elsewhere -- will be a criminal, if the information is “prejudicial to US interests..."
"Not only would, say, The New York Times or The Hook have been in violation of the law if they’d published this information, but anyone commenting on a blog who had cited the original tidbit could have been prosecuted. Or anyone sending a “hey did you hear about?” email message or posting a link to a relevant article on Facebook. (If we’d had Facebook back then.)".
"Should this SHIELD bill become law, then you (yes, you – you with your forwarding of email messages and the comments you post that you think are anonymous and your itch to pass along interesting chunks of information by way of tweets and links) could be fined, and imprisoned for up to ten years for disseminating what might well be the truth. (Ten years!)".
"The letters in “SHIELD” stand for ‘‘Securing Human Intelligence and Enforcing Lawful Dissemination.”"According to this, if/when it becomes law - everyone here is a criminal in the eyes of (corporate) civilization - 'you' all should be ashamed of yourselves, right!?

Ok, what jail do we go to..?
I'll take a book of cards so we can kill some time...
Would be nice if all Avalonians get jailed in the same place...
Looks like we are finally going to meet and the most beautiful thing of all, the system is gonna pay for us.......:der::biggrin1:

All I can say is, "wow, they are really scared of us."
This is just another attempt at shutting down the internet, since the very basis of the web is to share information.

Well, for starts, the site that this links to:
http://www.readthehook.com/88974/going-viral-new-law-could-criminalize-your-sharing
lists both bills S315 and HR703 as pertaining to the SHIELD (Securing Human Intelligence and Enforcing Lawful Dissemination) Act. As near as I can tell, that isn't the case. The full text of both bills is available here:
http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bill.xpd?bill=s112-315
and here http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bill.xpd?bill=h112-703
Both bills appear to be only slight revisions of already existing legislation:
http://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/html/uscode18/usc_sec_18_00000798----000-.html
So, while I appreciate the need for vigilance and concern over this type of legislation, the article cited seems a fairly distorted and sensationalistic presentation of the facts. The rule of constitutional law has indeed been reduced to not much more than a dog and pony show at this point, but inaccurate and misleading reporting of that process certainly isn't going to aid efforts to reform it.

Shuttingdown Human Intelligence. Soon we won't have to use the keyboards anyway to reach each other.
Day late and a rule too short for this time in history.

I "believe" this is in direct responce to the leaks from Wiki. Which "may" have been leaked by our government anyways.
What a great concept.
Release info, to create a new law, to prohibit future leaks, or it's a crime.

Cancun Pete King, who was in with Sanford the Dixie Billionaire ponzie scheme Pete King?
That guy. He and Jeff sessions and a few blue dogs were found to be flying down on Sanfords private jet, looking at vacation properties to purchase, like Charlie Rangle.
Pete needs to be exposed for the ponzie schemer enabler he is. Truth will set US free.
Politicians pass policy
And what they pass
Effects me
It's up to US to set US free
Americans, that's who WE be!

It's alright for them to spy on us through the internet for their corporate ads on the sites, but for us to discuss our goverment's collusion of corruption, is against the law. All you have to do is use a search engine and a million cookies try to follow you around. But to set one or two journalist on the corruption trail as a check and balance is against the law.
Getting more and more Naziregimist in America. What's next. Burning books, I hear we are going ipad notebook instead of the students lugging books. Is this another way to invade the privacy of students and try to sell more credit cards?
Money motivates these congress critters, follow the money.
Maybe he his just trying to stop wiki from publishing his cruise with a ponzie billionaire?

TPTB Have been paying attention. The only thing that prevented total world takeover in the early 1900s was the "Muckraker" journalists. What have they done now? Bought out all the mainstream journalism organizations.
But with the advent of the internet, Muckrakers don't NEED organizations, they just need a computer, webcam, and alot of good sources. Can't have people promoting the truth however, that' bad for business. I agree with Learninglight; Saddening, but ultimately not surprising.

Yes, it looks to me as if Section (3) would criminalize Wikileaks release of the diplomatic cables:
[I]TITLE 18 > PART I > CHAPTER 37 > § 798
Prev | Next § 798. Disclosure of classified information
(a) Whoever knowingly and willfully communicates, furnishes, transmits, or otherwise makes available to an unauthorized person, or publishes, or uses in any manner prejudicial to the safety or interest of the United States or for the benefit of any foreign government to the detriment of the United States any classified information—
(1) concerning the nature, preparation, or use of any code, cipher, or cryptographic system of the United States or any foreign government; or
(2) concerning the design, construction, use, maintenance, or repair of any device, apparatus, or appliance used or prepared or planned for use by the United States or any foreign government for cryptographic or communication intelligence purposes; or
(3) concerning the communication intelligence activities of the United States or any foreign government; or
(4) obtained by the processes of communication intelligence from the communications of any foreign government, knowing the same to have been obtained by such processes—
And, I am curious whether (2) "communication intelligence activities" would apply to whistleblower A. Basiagos Darpa Project Pegasus information. Could the chronovisor and tesla device be considered to have been used for communication intelligence if they wanted such revelations stopped?
Thank you for this discussion, everyone.

Okay, on re-reading the House bill, yes- it does have SHIELD Act listed as its short title, so I was wrong on that count. I still don't see the proposed revisions of the existing legislation as all that significant in terms of who the law would apply to. btw- my anti-virus gives me a malware warning for the second link you listed. You might want to edit that one out and run a scan on your machine.

"If you can think of a document like that, put a link to it on Facebook"
You might as well spell it out for the dumbed-down -- that document is called the Constitution of the United States. Any Congressional representative voting in favor of this proposed bill is, according to said document, a traitor. We need to ensure that they are punished as such.

ok, sounds like a nice vacation for me too,
Hey , maybe we can get certain large groups to discuss certain issues...
say like -get all the garbage companies worldwide to get arrested on a particular week... and see how long it takes TPTB to rescind their LAW...
(HAHAHA LOL - i WOULD LOVE TO GET IT ON TAPE TOO!)
