View Full Version : What Is the Consensus on Consciousness?

In the last few days, this board has asked itself:

Do we have to suffer to evolve?
Can we transcend our world or our reality?
How do we develop gift of intentionality?
What does co creating really mean?

All of these questions are about the connections of consciousness. I intend to spend a week on this thread talking about what we think we know about consciousness. I am also planning on adding information that has constantly caused me to rethink my own body of knowledge.

While time is doing strange things right now--spinning faster and faster--the conscious choice is to be aware that right now direction is more important than speed.

I always like to look at how art reflects life or maybe art creates life by stimulating thought. Kind of like The World is a circle without a beginning and nobody knows where the circle ends.

Thus, I know the Matrix exists and I know I can't see the big picture of its existence. So swimming in the Matrix is like life to me.

In the movie of the Matrix the answer to the first question do you have to suffer to evolve---seems to be yes. And we get from the movie that most people are not willing to do the work to free themselves. Then when confronted with the truth, the pain is not worth living for. Eckhart Tolle's book The New Earth says Evolve of Die! We no longer have the time to awaken the masses who choose not to know, we barely have enough time to form teams of consciousness.

The twenty percent have always pulled the majority, it seems to be built into our DNA. In the MyersBriggs theory of personality, they look at is as quadrants of personality. There seems to be a consistent percentage of certain types of people in all cultures.
The inner square of personalities is essentially 64%. Divided into two sections of 32%. One section says Don't worry be happy. And the other section says early to bed, early to rise, makes you healthy, happy, and wise.

They cancel each other out and they are the inertia of the population that has to be moved. They require a lot to come to consensus, to change, or to move emotionally. The extreme forms of scientists, seekers, teachers, explorers etc. have to spend a lot of time to change their minds. That keeps the population stable from the crazies and the fringes. Our ability to produce propaganda has now outstrip our ability to disclose it.

Bill Ryan is on the outer edges of the personality paradigm in his from of Idealist--5% of the population on a whole. I am on the opposite of the square as a rationalist and my type is also 2 to 5% of the population. It is not that Bill and I don't understand one another--we have different skill sets. We seem to be in agreement we need to form up the 20% of the population into teams or ground crews and do the work that needs doing. We have never met but that is what his writing tells me.

Can we transcend our reality? Those of us that have done it in some form or other know it goes this way---change my mind, change my choices, change my life. From doing this, I have feel I have already lived three distinct lives in this lifetime and I am getting ready to embark on the fourth and final.

My personal experience with life is that Nature has told us over and over there is another reality and we ignore it. In the 70s, when the galvanic skin response machine became available they hooked up to plants and recorded the plants reacting to things done in its presence from good music playing to boiling lobsters. Then they went a step further and proved that the plants responded to people thinking about the plants. These experiments were repeated and remained repeatable. They have been even more refined over the years. In 1955 Disney made one of his nature movies and said the rainforests are the lungs of the earth. All powerful stuff with incredible implications. Those of us who were really into it got called crazy tree huggers.

What existed before our eyes--we denied.

How do we develop the gift of intentionality? Doing something every day that works.

This site has a mission statement about learning, sharing, and developing. It also seems to stand for intolerance against intolerance. I come from a political site of 300,000 plus whose intention is to elect better politicians. After 8 years, I am done because there is nothing I can see coming from our intentions. 300,000 has little weight with the heavy population. Thus, my mind has changed to ground crews have by far more chance than major organizations and you can't fight money with money. You can only change the paradigm.

We could be quite vicious with attacking positions but we were very tolerant of the whole process. To my knowledge although always one of the largest political sites, we did not have a monitor until a little over a year ago. That is because we policed ourselves. We had the courage to say to each other you are off the wall, back off, and we supported the weak against the strong to some degree. We gave people time. We let people make fools of themselves. No one killed someone's thread. They died from lack of interest.

We are not children here. We can praise, and bless, and reprimand. We just need to do it with respect, dignity, and compassion. For two thousand people to need 14 monitors something is seriously wrong with our own behavior. We need to come to consciousness about rather we are creating Lord of the Flies or Lord of the Rings.

What does co creating mean?

To my knowledge I have never really done this. I have tried it a bunch of times. If this is the end of times in some form, now is the time to give it my all. Thus, my call to come to Avalon. Avalon calling to change. It has been said we are the only planet steeped in enormous religious subjugation. We are just now really coming to terms with what all that means. It is basic rethinking of what it means to reconsider the rightness and wrongness of everything.

Love means never having to say your sorry. Rubbish! Love means especially having to say you are sorry. I used to feel great guilt about this. Like it was my generation that put that out there. But it wasn't. It was the Powers That Be. Because it is fundamental to how they work. Destroy the world markets. Not a problem. Pay them a bonus. Not sorry. And not accountable. This is the world reality now.

To co create another world we must do things differently. Like acting like adults all the time and not requiring constant supervision. Being aware enough to see someone is having a bad day and tell them to take a break. When people are wallowing in pain say I hear you but it is enough already. Sometimes they need permission or direction to stop.

What do we have when we do this? I don't know but I am going to give it a shot. I am asking some of my friends to post and to post some stuff I want all of you to see. And then I am going to post an alternative reality story of my own experience. I hope many of you will do the same. Like you learn from major walk abouts--what we are -- are the stories we created. They are visions or nightmares.
