The United States Geological Survey site is doing the same thing. I have gone to www.usgs.gov and brought up the earthquake map for the United States. Clicking on the refresh button I have seen a 3.2 red square show up on the East side of Yellowtone only to press the refresh button and seen it disappear. This has happened to me twice on that site. I read somewhere that the feeds to USGS are automatic and if they don't want the public to know, they have to delete them after they appear.
It is very strange.....

maybe the USGS webserver is having a hiccup .............. here is a link to a screen that says that it is an earthquake report for March 1, 2011 and it is still February 28 at this time (10:54 PM Pacific Time) or maybe there is some other explanation?

Hi All just reloaded the data to see if the earthquakes where getting bigger when suddenly I noticed a gap between the data where there was massive activity where its replaced with no data.
there trying to hide it.
I'd suggest saving the page data at regular intervals. Once you reload the page, the data could be gone. For this site in particular, choose 'view page source' in the browser and look for a very long line near the top (line 116 for me) that starts with 'VI.quakeInfo='
Anyway, just save that whole page as a text document, and you'll capture the data needed to recreate the maps. You don't have to be very tech savvy to automate this, if you use firefox, just get this plugin:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/imacros-for-firefox/

The entire earthquake hardware system is done with remote radio reporting?
This is readable, this radio transmission system... so.... it can have parallel reporting and recording/storage.
never know! :)
